Does the PC control of Anthem feel weird to you? Don’t worry, the controls will still be adjusted until the final release.
What’s going on? Players of the VIP demo of Anthem were puzzled by the controls on PC. Some frustrated players left their feedback in forums and other social media.
Especially flying and swimming felt sluggish and “not right”. Also, keyboard inputs were not consistently recognized.
BioWare has now reassured that the controls will change before the final release.

What’s changing: As lead producer Ben Irving stated in the Anthem subreddit, the developers have taken the feedback from players in the VIP demo and adjusted the PC controls accordingly. However, the changes did not make it into the open demo but are expected in the final game.
Among other things, the aiming and flying controls are said to be improved. For instance, the slider for flying and swimming is expected to offer more than twice the range that was available in the VIP demo. This should enable a wider range of mouse DPI settings.

Additionally, there is automatic centering while swimming and flying: If you stop moving the mouse, the cursor will automatically return to the center of the screen after a while.
Aiming in the final version of Anthem will use proper raw input. This means that the direct signals from the mouse will be processed without being influenced by any settings from Windows or other programs. Among other things, a bug that caused a “symptom of negative acceleration” has been fixed.
