Grinding Gear Games has announced a new league for the action RPG Path of Exile (PC, PS4, Xbox One) called Harvest. This time, you will become gardeners and take care of plants from which monsters will grow.
What is Harvest? After Delirium, the new league for the fast-growing hack and slash Path of Exile offers a unique gameplay principle that is somewhat oriented towards farming simulators like Stardew Valley.
You will meet the new NPC Oshabi. She discovered a sacred grove and asks you for help to collect seeds that can be planted there. During your adventures, you will find the seeds, plant them in the grove, fertilize them with life energy, and when harvest time comes, it’s really exciting. Because from the plants, monsters will grow that you have to defeat.
- There are three types of seeds: Vivid, Primal, and Wild
- The seeds come in three tiers, which are harder to find depending on the level and also promise higher rewards
- Depending on the seed and tier, it is more difficult to make the plants grow
- You have to connect the garden through pipes so that the plants can be effectively supplied with nutrients. You need to pay attention to the requirements that each seed has to grow
- Collect life force and put it into a condenser. The plants need life energy as fertilizer
- When harvest time comes, monsters grow from the plants. Depending on the type of seeds, their location, and how many seeds you have planted, you will face a corresponding boss fight. Your gardening determines how the boss fights will look at the end
- Up to 48 plants can be harvested per instance
- The right combinations allow you to breed special boss enemies, including the ancient beasts Ersi, Janaar, and Namharim
- Accordingly, you will receive special rewards at the end of the fights
An Unusual League
What new rewards are there? A total of 12 new unique items are coming to the game. These include:
- Doryani’s Prototype Unique Armour – Targets builds that deal lightning damage, as you can only deal lightning damage with this armor. The lower your lightning resistance, the more damage you deal.
- Storm Secret Unique Ring – Targets the Herald Bomber build. The skill Herald of Thunder is buffed and increases the frequency of shockwaves.
What other innovations does the league bring? Two-handed weapons receive a buff through slam attacks. The passive skill tree will be revised and new battle cries will be added.
Moreover, crafting in the Harvest league works a bit differently. After the harvest, you will have the opportunity to use the life energy of the defeated monsters to equip your items with modifiers.
- Each seed found unlocks a recipe
- You then plant the seeds where the modifiers particularly appeal to you
- Harvest the plant and defeat the monster
- Now collect its life energy
- Enhance an item with the corresponding modifiers
- Life energy that you do not collect dissipates or you use it for the condenser and thus as fertilizer for the plants
When does the Harvest league start? Harvest begins on June 19 on PC and one week later for PS4 and Xbox One.
