What kind of vote is this? In Path of Exile, the developers want to know how you want to spend your money in the future.
After a survey about an animation was already successfully received by the fans – a Sharknado animation won – the developers want to repeat this success on a larger scale. They are asking the question of what type of cosmetic players would like to see next in the shop.
How does Path of Exile make money? Path of Exile is a free-to-play game that can be played for free. In order for money to come in regularly, microtransactions for cosmetic stuff like pets, skins, and animations are needed. Since all gameplay-relevant content is completely free, the prices for cosmetics are steep: players pay up to €25 for an item.
However, sometimes the developers overdo it and spark a little outrage, for example with a cursor pack for real money.

What is the status of the vote? Currently (as of September 16, 2021), over 5,000 players have participated in the survey in the forum (via Path of Exile). The following categories of microtransactions are available for selection:
- Helmet Skins
- Capes
- Wings
- Weapon Effects
- Weapon Skins
- Shields
- Character Effects
- Pets
Currently, wings are in the lead with 23.9 percent. Close behind are shields with 19 percent and pets with 15 percent.
The least popular seem to be weapon effects and helmets.
How long will this last? The whole campaign runs until September 20, 2021. You can still vote until then and maybe help the pets to victory.
How is the campaign received? The tone in the comments is indeed positive, and the high number of votes shows that fans are quite interested in cool skins and other cosmetic stuff in the game.
The idea is generally well received. However, there is disagreement about what exactly it should be, and supporters of the wing team argue fiercely against proponents of pets or fans of shields.
Additionally, there seems to be a clear rivalry, depending on whether one wants more shark content in the game or prefers cats or just other things.
Yes, you have Sharknado. But I haven’t seen anyone talking about it or using it in the game. If you had had cats [as a theme], I would have bought it myself. The whole movie Sharknado is dumb!

What are the developers’ future plans? Once the vote is over on September 20, the developers will gradually set together with the community through further votes what exactly the item will be. It remains exciting whether there will be more sharks soon or whether the cat fans will prevail.
