In Path of Exile, the developers have announced the first major feature for the new season. What other games have had for years could become a major change for the ARPG.
What have the developers presented? In a new video on YouTube, the developers introduced their first new feature for the upcoming season “Secrets of the Atlas” of Path of Exile. It is about pausing the game. The feature, which was initially only present in the sequel Path of Exile 2, is now coming to the original 11 years after its release.
The pause in Path of Exile will be activated whenever players trigger a menu, such as by pressing the ESC key or opening the skill tree.
Although a pause function may sound trivial at first to many and other games have offered this as a feature for many decades, this new function could lead to a significant change for professionals.

Pause becomes a game changer for professionals
How do experts benefit from the new function? Many professionals do not play Path of Exile in the normal mode, but in the hardcore variant. This differs in that when a character dies, the run ends, and the character is sent to normal mode.
Accordingly, situations in the endgame can become precarious, where professionals nearly lose their characters. To prevent this, many log out shortly before death. In this case, the character is brought to safety and later appears in town again with full life.
However, this technique carries a risk. While pressing the ESC key to open the menu, time continues to run, and logging out too slowly can lead to the character’s death. With the new pause function, this will be more relaxed.
