The developer Grinding Gear Games has officially announced that the action RPG Path of Exile will also be released on the PS4. Fans won’t have to wait long, as the PS4 version is scheduled to be released in December 2018. Path of Exile is considered by many to be an alternative to Diablo.
What happened? Rumors that a PS4 version of Path of Exile might be in the works had been circulating for several weeks. A Taiwanese rating site listed the PS4 as a platform in one of its ratings for PoE. Now Grinding Gear Games has officially announced the release of PoE on the PS4.
You can watch the trailer for the PS4 announcement here:
What content will the PS4 receive? On December 7, Path of Exile will release its next expansion with patch 3.5.0. Not much is known about the content of the expansion, and the announcement is expected to be made over the weekend. However, it is certain that PS4 players will have full access to all the content of the new patch.
While the PC version will receive its 3.5.0 update before the consoles, they will catch up soon after. However, the PS4 will not offer crossplay with other platforms at launch.

The PoE community delivers jabs at Diablo: The announcement of the PS4 version was received extremely positively on the official Path of Exile subreddit. However, there were some jabs towards Blizzard, who are currently facing massive negative feedback regarding Diablo Immortal.
The highest-rated comment in the announcement thread was “Do you guys not have playstations?”, referencing a question from a Blizzard developer asking whether Diablo fans had no smartphones.
Additionally, an unknown fan created the site www.playdiablo4.com, which redirects to the homepage of Path of Exile when clicked.

While fans joked about smartphones, they had no objections to a mobile Switch version of Path of Exile, as several comments in the thread showed.
The developers at Grinding Gear Games are likely pleased with the troubles surrounding Diablo:
Blizzard expected troubles regarding Diablo Immortal, but not this much
