Grinding Gear Games has announced the new expansion 3.13 Echoes of the Atlas for the hack and slash Path of Exile (PC, PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Xbox Series X/S). In this, you can expect a very special challenge.
What’s in Echoes of the Atlas? The new expansion 3.13 – which was originally planned as the last for the year 2020 – aims to usher in a new “era of endgame” in Path of Exile and introduces the boss “The Maven”. Reaching her, however, is the real challenge.
What is this challenge? You must compete in an arena to lure The Maven out. In this arena, you first fight against a boss enemy, then against increasingly more. Finally, you will have to defeat 10 bosses before you can turn to The Maven. This means you will be fighting 10 of the most powerful monsters of the hack and slash at the same time.
The Maven herself is said to be the strongest enemy you have ever faced in PoE. The developers themselves state that very few players will likely be able to meet this challenge.
What else is in PoE 3.13
What else is new? The expansion 3.13 Echoes of the Atlas brings many other innovations as well. These include:
- 11 new maps
- The new Ritual league, where you find altars on the maps that summon more monsters when activated. Defeating these will reward you with tributes that can be exchanged at the altar for random items – among them can be 13 very special items
- The classes Elementalist, Deadeye, and Inquisitor will be revised
- Over 40 skills will receive optimization, and new abilities will be added
- You will find portals to gardens that are ready for harvest. Each garden has its own difficulty level and corresponding monsters that you must defeat
- You will get Maven’s Orb, which allows you to modify items in even more ways
- New supporter packs that include new pets and additional cosmetic items
When does it start? The launch of Echoes of the Atlas as well as the Ritual league will take place on January 15 for the PC version of Path of Exile. The versions for PS4/PS5 and Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S will follow on January 20.
Grinding Gear Games is already working on Path of Exile 2, which is part of the 8 new hack and slashes that are coming in 2021 while you wait for Diablo 4.
