Delirium is the new expansion of the online action RPG Path of Exile (PC, PS4, Xbox One). The release is on March 13, 2020. What this brings should fulfill the wishes of many fans.
What is Delirium? The new expansion for Path of Exile (PoE) will be grand and it addresses what fans of the action RPG desire.
PoE can be a tough nut to crack and is significantly more complex than other hack ‘n slay games like Diablo 3. This is exactly what the developers build upon. Delirium will be even harder, more extensive, and more complex.
A gigantic expansion
What does the add-on bring? Delirium will introduce a series of innovations that should please PoE fans. We present them to you here.
The Delirium Mirrors
These mirrors appear with the new add-on in every area. If you touch the mirrors, you will fall into a Delirium for one minute. You will find yourself in a foggy area where you will face particularly tough opponents.
The further you venture into this fog, the more and tougher monsters will appear. Boss opponents will also be influenced by this mechanic. It is therefore possible to encounter a familiar boss in Delirium who is even harder to defeat. Furthermore, Delirium can be combined with all existing league mechanics, including Breach or Incursion.
You do not have to touch these mirrors. However, a very valuable loot awaits you as a reward.
New rewards
The more monsters you can defeat in your Delirium, the better the rewards will be. These can be rare items, maps, or simply the currency of Path of Exile. However, the rewards are always tied to the specific Delirium encounter and have a special theme. There might also be unique items in them. The further you progress in the fog, the better the rewards will be. However, it will also be increasingly difficult to obtain them.
Delirium Orbs are another reward. You can apply these to the maps you find in the game. This will turn that map into a Delirium level. The more orbs you use, the harder the map becomes. In return, you will receive better rewards when playing the level. This includes the new Simulacrum shards. If you collect 100 of them, a new endgame activity will be unlocked, which the developers will talk about at a later date.
More complex skill tree
The Delirium add-on introduces Cluster Gems in PoE. These can be applied to the outer sockets of the passive skill tree. By finding Cluster Gems of different sizes, you develop new skill groupings that can, in turn, offer new sockets. You thus create your own personal skill tree.
Additionally, there are Keystone Passives that offer new possibilities for how you play your hero. For example, if you want to play a barehanded ninja, you can unlock the corresponding Keystone Passive skill and deal a lot of damage without weapons.
What is the purpose of Delirium?
Delirium aims to provide Path of Exile players with more opportunities to improve their heroes and further develop a core element of hack ‘n slays: taking risks to receive great rewards. You will face new challenges and decide for yourself how far you want to go. This is meant to make PoE more complex and harder. Something that the fans should definitely appreciate.
When does it start? Update 3.10, Delirium, is set to be released on March 13 for Path of Exile. You can already purchase one of the supporter packs. These give you some in-game currency, skins, and the soundtrack of the expansion.
