The new season brought Path of Exile yet another player record. With the launch of Legion, more fans played the hack & slash than ever before.
What record is it about? Last weekend, the hack-and-slash game Path of Exile set a new player record. The free-to-play game is regularly expanded with new addons and seasons, known as leagues, and can continuously set new records for player numbers.
On June 7th, the new season “Legion” launched. On the following weekend, a peak of over 224,000 players was recorded on the main server of Path of Exile. Players on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles as well as Chinese fans were not included.

Where does the record come from? Along with the new season, PoE was also released in Korea last weekend. In Korea, the game is marketed together with Kakao Games.
As the developers of Grinding Gear Games stated, the launch of Legion was the smoothest launch ever, despite the exploding player numbers. Although there were some client crashes at the beginning, the developers were able to fix many issues in the first days.
The new record with Legion was able to surpass the player numbers from the Betrayal update in December. The last league “Synthesis” was not very well received by the players.

What is Legion? The story of Legion revolves around the most powerful military leaders of the land of Wraeclast, who are trapped in an eternal war. Players must free their legions and fight against them to earn their rewards.
With Legion, the melee characters were also revamped and the difficulty level was increased. The developers wanted to give all players the feeling that they could achieve something through tough challenges.
