Path of Exile (PC, Xbox) is a dark action RPG that is often described as the more complex and free alternative to Diablo 3. Our author Leya is going into exile today at 6:00 PM and will fight as an outcast through the brutal world of Wraeclast.
In Path of Exile you take on the role of a criminal who has been banished to a continent called Wraeclast. Once, Wraeclast was a radiant empire. But now it is just a cursed land with merciless weather and dangerous creatures.
The inhabitants of the nearby island of Oriath use the merciless Wraeclast to banish lepers there and leave them to their fate.
I, Leya, will be one of those leprous criminals today and invite you to go into exile with me.
What is Path of Exile?
Path of Exile is a “hack and slash” action RPG and is developed by Grinding Gear Games. You primarily slay monsters at a rapid pace to obtain better items.
Path of Exile is often compared to Diablo by Blizzard. However, Path of Exile is free and has an extremely deep skill and upgrade system. This is mainly due to special stones (gems) that allow you to change and enhance the effects of items. The stones themselves can also be leveled up.
Much of the gameplay revolves around finding a perfect synergy within the equipment and gems. This, along with the vast character skill tree, is what draws most people to the game.
I will stream Path of Exile on PC. Together with you, I will create a character and embark on the first missions.
