We take a look at how the new Delirium league of the hack and slay Path of Exile (PoE) is received shortly after its launch on PC.
What does Delirium bring? The new league aims to provide players of Path of Exile with greater challenges, which will then also bring valuable rewards. This is where the new Delirium Mirrors come into play, which transform the area for one minute. Now you fight there against particularly nasty enemies.
With the new Delirium Orbs, it is possible to transform your maps into Delirium maps, which then create a very challenging area of play. And the new Cluster Gems allow you to expand the skill tree individually.
Enthusiastic Players
How is the new league received? Shortly after Delirium launched, PoE already set a new record on Steam. The previous record was 123,462 simultaneous players in December 2018.
Now, 132,508 simultaneous players have been reported. And these are only those playing via Steam. PoE also has its own launcher. The ratings of the game on Steam have increased to 94%. This shows that Delirium is really well received.
What do players think about Delirium? After other leagues previously caused some problems, this does not seem to be the case now. The developers have learned from their mistakes.

- jimboslice5545 says: “Aside from the occasional crash in the middle of a monster fight, Delirium is good. The league brings a new level of difficulty. Good job, developers!”
- MikuruKitsune shows enthusiasm: “I haven’t had this much fun since Flashback. The only thing I don’t like about this league is that it doesn’t extend the duration in a Delirium when you are, for example, in an encounter with Alva or Jun.”
However, there is some criticism
What is being criticized? Overall, Delirium is well received. However, the influx of players that has led to the new record has now caused performance issues. The servers are somewhat overloaded, which can even lead to being kicked from the game.
- Ronin™ writes, for example, on Steam: “The game is poorly optimized. It stutters especially in towns and when other players appear.”
- Kirk is somewhat annoyed by the performance issues: “The developers seem to have given up. Every three months they make the same mistake and strain the goodwill of their players.”
- ꧁Oภ?iℝe꧂ says: “The new league is terrible in terms of performance. Lags and Rubber Banding have increased significantly.”
Additionally, there are a few bugs and optimization opportunities, for example, regarding balancing. Growing pains that basically occur with every new release, but that the developers always quickly address.
