The developers of Path of Exile have introduced their new league “Mirage”. This especially changes the endgame massively.
What have the developers changed? With the upcoming update 3.28, the developers of Path of Exile have made some changes to the endgame. The update goes live parallel to the new season “Mirage” on March 6, 2026.
The endgame changes mainly affect the Atlas tree, which connects the various maps as an overview map. In the new Atlas tree, modifiers can affect different maps, similar to what occurs in Path of Exile 2.
With the update, players will no longer find specific maps. Instead, enemies will drop a map with a certain level, for example, map level 11. In the Atlas tree, this unspecific map can then be assigned to a location. This way, players now have the choice of where they want to fight.
This also has the effect that players can complete the Atlas tree faster. Less grinding is needed to find the missing maps. Instead, one simply selects what is missing.
Furthermore, the developers have removed some of the most annoying modifiers from the maps. No one will turn into a frog anymore just to annoy you. But the new update offers even more.

New class changes every season
What kind of new class is this? The developers of Path of Exile have announced a new expansion class for the Scion. The Reliquarist is something very special. He chooses from a new set of bonuses each season, all of which come from unique items.
In this season, there can be a bonus of 40% to fire resistance, while next season the movement speed will be increased by 10% in the same place. The developers have confirmed to MeinMMO that one developer thinks each season about which builds can be created from the various bonuses, aiming to create a new interesting class every season.
New season mechanic
What does the new season bring as a mechanic? New is the Mirage world in Path of Exile. On the normal maps, there are portals that take you to a kind of mirror world. Everything there is almost like in the real world, but there are extra bonuses and slightly changed modifiers.
In the mirror worlds, you can complete several in a row to bag even better rewards and new items, with which the items in the game can be strongly changed again.
Here the developers also give a tip. It is possible to enhance strongboxes and other items in the “real world” before going into the Mirage world to buff them even more there. Here the developers see a high “Juice” potential.
The new season of Path of Exile offers a great opportunity to re-enter the ARPG thanks to the overhaul of the endgame. But the competition is also tapping into a popular system right now and wants to score: Competitor steals the best mode from Path of Exile, proves in the new trailer how good it looks
