The role-playing game Path of Exile 2 presented the new class Mercenary in a new gameplay video. It is supposed to bring shooter vibes to the RPG and takes out its opponents with crossbows.
As part of a livestream, Grinding Gear Games introduced the Mercenary as a new class for the upcoming RPG Path of Exile 2, which fundamentally differs in combat style from the other classes.

What does the new class fight with? The new class Mercenary is a ranged fighter. He uses a crossbow, with different types of ammunition and modifications available:
For example, you can choose ammunition that is effective for a single opponent or entire groups. Different ammo types or modifications provide specific extras, such as slowing, igniting, freezing, or stunning enemies.
But that’s not all: You will also have different crossbows available. These will bring individual properties similar to various types of weapons, and will score at different distances like a sniper rifle or a shotgun.
Additionally, you can control the Mercenary using not only the mouse but also the WASD keys on your keyboard. This allows you to run somewhere and fire your crossbow at the same time.
Moreover, the skills and attacks of the Mercenary are triggered immediately – even while you are running. So you don’t have to stop every time – like with the other classes – to attack.
What other classes are there? In addition to the Mercenary, the following classes have been announced in Path of Exile 2:

When will Path of Exile 2 be released? The game will enter closed beta on June 7, 2024. Interested players can already register on the game’s website. A precise release date for the full game is not yet known.
