With a new teaser trailer, the developers of Path of Exile 2 have announced the release of the highly anticipated update 0.2.0. However, the timing of the patch’s release could not be worse for the fans. They even suspect malicious intent behind it.
When does the update 0.2.0 start? The new patch 0.2.0 is set to go live on April 4th at 21:00 CEST. The developers have also given the major update a name. The patch will be called “Dawn of the Hunt” and will bring many improvements, likely introducing the spear as a new weapon and a significant innovation in the ARPG.
More details about “Dawn of the Hunt” will be revealed on March 27th at 20:00 live on Twitch, where the developers will present the update and answer questions from the community. However, with April 4th as the release date, most players are extremely dissatisfied, as just two days earlier, a major competitor is releasing their long-awaited update.

Path of Exile 2 vs. Last Epoch
Why is the date causing such trouble? The developers of Path of Exile 2 have taken too long for many players’ taste to release the next content update. Now, with April 4th finally providing a date, most players are unhappy. The reason for this is the start of the 2nd season of Last Epoch, “Tombs of the Erased.”
Last Epoch thrilled over 260,000 players at launch (via SteamDB), before the player numbers then plummeted due to a lack of content. Many genre fans were already looking forward to the next season since its announcement in February. The fact that Path of Exile 2 now wants to release its update exactly two days later is viewed by the community as a direct attack.
What are the players saying? In the comments on X (formerly Twitter), there is a flood of criticism regarding the date. Significant figures from the community, like Twitch streamer Zizaran, who has over 500,000 fans, wrote on X.com: “You couldn’t have chosen a worse date.”
wudijo, the content creator for Diablo and Path of Exile, also had clear words regarding the date in his reaction on Twitch: “This is obviously intentional […] They are so damn late that they decided: ‘Okay, let’s just make it even later. Just so we can clash with Last Epoch.'”
For many on X.com, this date is part of a downward spiral of negative actions by the developers at Grinding Gear Games.
For some players, the situation appears as follows: First, they concealed that they diverted the developers of Path of Exile 1 in favor of the sequel, then there were too few updates for too long in both games, and now it seems that they are deliberately trying to hinder the new season of Last Epoch.
