Path of Exile 2 is currently the most sought-after ARPG on the market. Even the head of the biggest competitor, Diablo 4, is playing it.
How is Path of Exile 2 doing? Currently, Path of Exile 2 is more popular than the predecessor ever was. The game peaked at nearly 500,000 players on Steam, which is about 45 times more than Diablo 4 (via SteamDB) and is now the largest ARPG.
The ratings are also impressive with 83% positive on Steam for an Early Access title, even though the predecessor stands at 89% on Steam. The major competitor Diablo 4 is only rated 71% positive on Steam.
Not only among fans of the predecessor is PoE2 well received, Elon Musk has also shared his opinion on the action RPG. Now even the head of Diablo 4 wants to play the game.

Head of Diablo himself plays Path of Exile 2
Who is it about? Rod Fergusson has been the head of the entire Diablo franchise at Blizzard since 2020. He is also the one who recently suggested renaming the ARPG genre to “Diablo-like” and received a lot of criticism for it.
In a new post on X.com, the head has once again commented on Path of Exile 2, this time positively. He congratulated the developers on the Early Access release of their game. He also announced that he would play the game and that he is looking forward to the holidays, during which he plans to play extensively.
He is quite serious about the post, as he confirmed in response to a user’s inquiry (via X.com). Rod Fergusson will be playing on Xbox as his platform of choice.
Which class does the head want to play? After he was unsure in the initial post about which class to play, he announced in a further post that it will probably be the Witch. He explains on X.com that he played a Necromancer in the first part of Path of Exile and wants to try it again in the second part.
Minion builds of the Necromancer are always popular in Path of Exile 2 and other ARPGs like Diablo 4. Players simply enjoy having control over an army of the undead.
