Will is the key to powerful builds in Path of Exile 2. Without willpower, your best abilities remain unused. We will show you how to increase your will and get the most out of your character.
What do you do with will? In Path of Exile 2, you need willpower to activate passive abilities. In the game, they are also called will gems or spirit gems. These passive abilities can massively boost your build.
Additionally, you need this stat for the witch, as it also determines how many creatures you can command in your undead army.
However, to utilize multiple or better skills, you will need more of it, as more points are reserved per activated ability. We will show you how to get more.

How to increase the value? To increase the will value in PoE2, you have various options. The easiest is defeating boss enemies. There are a total of three enemies that reward you with more willpower when you defeat them:
- Act 1: Freythorn – The King in the Mists
- Buff: +30 Will
- How? Defeat optional boss (rituals must be completed to summon the boss)
- Act 3: The Azak Bog – Ignagduk, The Bog Witch
- Buff: +30 Will
- How? Defeat optional boss.
- Act 6: The Azak Bog – Ignagduk, The Bog Witch
- Buff: +40 Will
- How? Defeat optional boss.
Equipment items also give you more willpower. Above all is the scepter, which always gives you +100 will and even offers a chance for more of the stat.
Other items include the sun amulets, certain armors, jewels that you use in your passive tree, uniques, and specific points in the ascendancies of monk and witch.
How to Use Your Will in Path of Exile 2
How to expend the will value? In Path of Exile 2, you must manually activate the abilities that reserve will. First, open your skill menu and select the skill. Press the corresponding symbol to activate the ability. On Xbox, this is done with the X button, and on PS5, with the square button. If you have done everything correctly, the ability should glow. It is always assumed that you have enough will available.
Even without special items, you have at least 100 points in willpower. So choose carefully which abilities you want to activate. Think carefully about which buffs you want to use.
