Many players are wondering when Path of Exile 2 will leave Early Access and celebrate its full release. In an interview with MeinMMO, the director revealed more information about this.
What is the status of the release? At the start of the Early Access of Path of Exile 2, Game Director Jonathan Rogers originally announced that the development phase on Steam and consoles would last about 6-12 months. The first major update ‘Dawn of the Hunt’ brings numerous improvements and only one new class – and this is despite the fact that four of the announced six to twelve months have already passed.
During a press preview of the new season “Dawn of the Hunt” for Path of Exile 2, Game Director Jonathan Rogers answered questions from journalists. This also included the question about the complete release of the ARPG in 2025.
Game Director Jonathan Rogers stated that he is doing everything he can to fully release Path of Exile 2 in 2025. However, he admits that he is not entirely sure if the development team can meet the schedule. The release is still planned for 2025 and is also possible, according to Rogers.
The new season “Dawn of the Hunt” is set to start on April 4, 2024. You can watch the trailer here:
The new classes determine the release date
What are the developers’ challenges? Later in the conversation, Rogers was also asked about the development. He indicated that the new classes present a significant challenge for the developers. Their development is significantly more complex and resource-intensive than that of bosses or new items.
The final release also depends on whether all classes can be completed in time. A release with fewer than all of the announced classes would likely disappoint many players.
After the delays of the Early Access and the fact that one third of the announced development time has already passed, many players have little confidence in a 2025 release.
Whether Path of Exile 2 will really be released as a full game in 2025 with all six acts and all classes remains to be seen. Game Director Jonathan Rogers continues to stick to the planned release timeframe.
