In Path of Exile 2, builds are quite complex, and you need a lot of time and patience to refine them. A player has now built a powerful build for the Sorceress, which allows you to freeze the entire battlefield and bombard bosses with comets.
What kind of build is this? This is a simple build by YouTuber Zen_M for all players who want to start with Path of Exile 2 but do not want to memorize complicated rotations from other classes. The Sorceress with her Comet build is ideal for this.
In this build, you freeze your enemies and automatically let frozen comets fall onto the battlefield to pause and dominate your foes.
The build is simple, easy to understand, and can be quickly implemented with the right preparation. Therefore, in our guide, we will show you how to optimally skill your Sorceress at the beginning of your journey and what you need to know in the endgame regarding gems and your rotation.
Skills for Beginners: From Act 1 to Act 3
How does the build look until the endgame? The true power of ice can only be unleashed in the endgame, but until then, you have to settle for weaker talents. Therefore, depending on the act, use the following skills:
Act 1: All Skills and Gems
| Skills for Act 1 | Support Gems for Act 1 |
|---|---|
| Main Skill: Spark | – Unleash – Controlled Destruction |
| Flame Wall | – Spell Cascade |
| Frost Bomb | – Magnified Effect (for Maps) – Concentrated Effect (for Bosses) – Glaciation |
| Optional: Orb of Storm | Arcane Tempo |
How does the rotation work? Use Spark as your main ability. Pair this with Flame Wall to amplify your projectiles. Always use Frost Bomb on cooldown against bosses.
What should I focus on in the passive skill tree? From the starting point, go up the fork on the left side, and activate all points up to Path of Storms.
Before the fork meets and goes up further, continue along the left path and unlock points up to Exploit the Elements. Focus on increasing cast speed, intelligence, and more elemental damage at the smaller points.
Act 2: All Skills and Gems
| Skills for Act 2 | Support Gems for Act 2 |
|---|---|
| Main Skill: Frostbolt | – Scattershot – Glaciation |
| Cold Snap | – Spell Cascade – Concentrated Effect |
| Frost Bomb | – Magnified Effect – Controlled Destruction |
| When unlocked: Hypothermia | none |
How does the rotation work? You use Frostbolt as your main skill and supplement it with Cold Snap for a cold detonation. Frost Bomb is again meant for tougher enemies and bosses and must always be on cooldown. Hypothermia debuffs your enemies, making them more vulnerable to frost damage.
What should I focus on in the passive skill tree? Here, you focus entirely on the ice element. So, from the starting point, go all the way up to the top and activate:
- Endless Blizzard
- Inescapable Cold
- Glaciation
Additionally, you should also select the following perks:
- Ascendancy from the Stormweaver: Scouring Winds
- Overexposure (at the second to last crossing on the way up, the first constellation on the left)
Act 3: All Skills and Gems
| Skills for Act 3 | Support Gems for Act 3 |
|---|---|
| Cast on Freeze | Skill: Cold Snap (swap with Comet when you reach Gem-Cutting Lvl. 11) – Spell Echo |
| Main Skill: Frostbolt | – Scattershot – Glaciation |
| Frost Bomb | – Magnified Effect – Strip Away |
| Frost Wall | – Spell Cascade – Icicle |
| Hypothermia | none |
How does the rotation work? You actively use Frostbolt and freeze your enemies. With Cast on Freeze, you no longer need to actively cast Cold Snap – the skill now activates automatically after each freeze. Keep Frost Bomb on cooldown against tougher enemies.
Frost Wall is now an addition that creates crystals that explode at enough damage and deal area damage. You can use this skill as you like, but especially against bosses – they almost always make the crystals explode immediately upon spawning.
Additionally, disable Cast on Freeze when fighting bosses and then primarily use Frost Bomb and Frost Wall – otherwise, your opponent will thaw again. So spam Frostbolt and Frost Bomb, and when the boss is frozen, use only Frost Wall until it is thawed again.
What should I focus on in the passive skill tree? Here, you should ideally take the path to the right at the second to last intersection on the way up, all the way to the perk “Shattered Crystal.” This reduces the life of your crystals to increase your DPS.
Comet Build: What Skills Do I Need for the Endgame?
| Skills for the Endgame | Support Gems for the Endgame |
|---|---|
| Cast on Freeze | Skill: Comet – Concentrated Effect – Impetus |
| Elemental Invocation | Skill: Comet – Spell Echo – Capacitor |
| Main Skill: Frostbolt | – Scattershot – Glaciation – Controlled Destruction |
| Comet | – Hourglass – Inevitable Critical – Supercritical |
| Frost Bomb | – Magnified Effect – Strip Away – Considered Casting |
| Frost Wall | – Spell Cascade – Icicle – Cold Mastery |
| Hypothermia | – Persistence – Heightened Curse |
| Leap Slam (optional for mobility) | none |
How does the rotation work? You activate Frostbolt until your opponent is frozen and then activate Frost Bomb and Frost Wall. Hypothermia helps you again with a debuff that lowers your enemies’ resistances. You can use Comet as needed, depending on whether you have enough mana left. Leap Slam is primarily for movement to create distance from your enemies.
What route do I take in the passive skill tree? In your skill tree, you now need to activate a point in Energy on the right side of the passive skill tree to effectively use Elemental Invocation – also activate “Invocated Efficiency” in the same area.
Additionally, you should have activated some points from “Freeze Buildup” at the second to last intersection on the way up. Finally, activate the point “Thin Ice” in the same area under the energy tree. For Ascendancies, add Arcane Sword to Scouring Winds.
All Info About Weapons, Armor, and Potions
Skills and their gems are important to have a strong rotation for combat, but without suitable equipment, your build won’t be effective enough. Therefore, you should focus on the following items and affixes:
| Item Type | Affixes |
|---|---|
| Helm | – Health – Resistances |
| Gloves | – Freeze Chance |
| Chest Armor | – Reduced Mana Cost – Increased Spirit |
| Boots | – Increased Movement – Resistances |
| Jewelry | – Resistances – Increased Spirit – Health – Attributes |
| Belt | – Health – Attributes – Resistances |
| Potions | – Health Potion: X % on instant healing – Mana Potion: X % increased amount restored |
These were all the important details regarding the beginner build for the Sorceress. The build is powerful and can truly reveal its strength only in the endgame.
