The next patch for World of Warcraft has been revealed. It concerns the Old God N’Zoth, the Black Empire, and plenty of dark visions.
Quite unexpectedly, the WoW team released a new video today. Game Director Ion Hazzikostas took about 20 minutes to talk not only about WoW Classic but also about the future of Battle for Azeroth. The next patch was revealed: Patch 8.3 Visions of N’Zoth. A lot had hinted at a PTR a few days ago.
What is Patch 8.3 about? The war between Horde and Alliance is over, but N’Zoth has been freed. He is the first Old God that is completely unshackled and is now ravaging Azeroth. This results in many titanic facilities being attacked.
Old areas are being revamped: N’Zoth’s attacks are also taking place in other locations. Regular attacks occur in Uldum (south of Kalimdor) and the Vale of Eternal Blossoms (Pandaria). These areas are being attacked by N’Zoth’s forces and hold new quests, puzzles, secrets, treasures, and other rewards for players as long as an attack is ongoing.
Those who fend off the attacks can subsequently enter the dreams of N’Zoth and see a piece of the world as N’Zoth envisions it – completely corrupted by his power.
Stormwind and Orgrimmar as a scenario: Part of these visions is a complete corruption of Stormwind and Orgrimmar. These are new scenarios for 1-5 players that scale depending on group size. While in the visions, the characters’ mental health decreases, and they suffer ever stronger debuffs and negative effects, forcing them to retreat early.
However, each time players learn a little more about the visions, so their next visit lasts longer. Piece by piece, they can conquer the visions and ultimately cleanse them to claim rewards.
Ny’alotha will be the raid: The centerpiece of Patch 8.3 is the Sleeping City Ny’alotha. This will be a new raid, where the Old God N’Zoth himself can be encountered at the end. The raid seems quite large, as there are a total of 12 bosses there.
What happens after that will probably only be revealed at BlizzCon 2019.
When is the patch coming out? There is no exact release date for Patch 8.3 yet. Since the PTR has just activated, it will likely take a few weeks, if not months.
Are you looking forward to Patch 8.3 and the implications of N’Zoth? Or does it leave you rather indifferent?
