The next patch of World of Warcraft is starting. But one feature will not be included, even though players have been begging for it for almost two months.
Today, the Patch 8.2.5 for World of Warcraft launches in America, before it will also be released here in Europe tomorrow (Wednesday, September 25, 2019). In addition to the eagerly awaited finale of the war campaign, the patch also brings many other innovations. However, one feature is missing that players with multiple characters have wanted for weeks: easier access to essences for the Heart of Azeroth.
What is the problem? The Essences for the Heart of Azeroth are a powerful upgrade as they grant the character new active and passive abilities. The first level of an essence is easy to obtain, but levels 2 and 3 usually require a lot of effort and an extremely high time investment. Even with one character, this is exhausting. However, those who want to have multiple characters at a “solid” level must put in considerable effort.
Especially PvP annoys many: The biggest sticking point for many players is the PvP essence. This requires the player to earn 50,000 honor in battlegrounds. Depending on the playtime, this can take several weeks. That’s quite a grind that only a few want to complete on multiple characters.
What do players want? Basically, there are two proposals from players on Reddit and in the official forums on how the situation can be improved:
- Account-wide unlocking: The first proposal would be that all essences should be unlocked account-wide. In that case, twinks would receive all essences “given” that the main character has already earned.
- Reduced costs: The second proposal is that essences should be easier to obtain on secondary characters, but not given away for free. For example, essences could be sold for a currency (gold, titan residue, honor badges).
Is Blizzard ignoring the feedback? The desire has been expressed for several weeks, but there has been no reaction from Blizzard. Their last position was that, even before the release of the essences, they did not want to fundamentally simplify the process. This seems to be held onto. Some even sarcastically believe that this is to “increase playtime.”
In any case, the essences have made it difficult for twinks to reach an “acceptable” level.
But maybe this wish will be fulfilled with Patch 8.3, which will surely appear in line with BlizzCon in November on the PTR.
