The next patch for World of Warcraft is almost here. To get started, you need to activate the pre-load right now.
Although the majority of players in World of Warcraft are currently engaged in Classic, the next patch for Battle for Azeroth is near. The Patch 8.2.5 has been on the PTR for a while, but the testing phase is coming to an end. The first “Release Candidate” has just been released on the PTR – this is traditionally the last update before the patch goes live, provided no bugs are found. To start right at the release, you should activate the pre-load now.

Here’s how to start the pre-load: To start the pre-load, you need to launch the Battle.net software and follow these steps:
- Select “Options”.
- Now, on the side, choose “Installation & Updates” and scroll down to “Game Updates”.
- Click on “Game-specific Settings”, a new menu will open.
- Set “Latest & Future Updates” for World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth.
Confirm with “Done” and the Battle.net app should start downloading the next patch. However, keep in mind that on release day, some data will still need to be downloaded to pull the most recent changes.
What’s included in Patch 8.2.5? The 8.2.5 update is just a “small” patch, but it still brings a lot of changes that players will appreciate. Some of the biggest features include:
- The long-awaited model update for Worgen.
- The “Party Sync” feature that allows all players to play together, no matter what level they are.
- The end of the war campaign and thus the new “status quo” between Alliance and Horde.
- Two major cinematics that have over 8 minutes of runtime.
- Many other “Quality of Life” improvements.
When is Patch 8.2.5 coming out? There is now an exact release date for Patch 8.2.5! Patch 8.2.5 will launch on September 25, so next week.
Are you looking forward to the next update of World of Warcraft? Or are you just waiting for BlizzCon and the likely announcement of the next expansion?
