Catch everything that comes your way
In general, you should catch all the Pals that come your way. This will give you the most experience points, especially at the beginning. You get a special XP bonus for the first 10 Pals of a kind. Catching Pals is one of the best ways to level up quickly in Palworld.
Catching Pals also gives you significantly more experience points than crafting items or defeating Pals or human poachers. If you want to level up quickly, you should focus on catching during the first hours of the game and not shoot everything that comes your way.
Important resources such as Palsaft, which you need for many items, can only be found if you defeat or catch Pals.
Also note that all Pals – similar to Pokémon – exhibit types that have various strengths and weaknesses:
It doesn’t (almost) matter where you place your first base
Don’t worry too much about where you place your first base. Because later in the game, you can place production buildings like a lumberjack and a quarry that will make you independent of natural resources. The valuable coal can only be found in later areas, but since the Sakurajima update, you can also build a coal mine in your base and become independent.
If you still want to position yourself strategically at the beginning: Initially, you will primarily need wood, stone, and Paldium. You need Paldium if you want to craft Pal-spheres (the “Pokéballs” in Palworld). The best locations for a base with plenty of resources can be found in our follow-up article.
If you are still unsatisfied, you can move and rebuild your base at any time. But be careful: When moving, all your buildings will remain at the old location. Buildings that only function with the base will be destroyed, and you will get your resources back. This is how many storage facilities you can have at most in Palworld.
Pay attention to the basic skills and passive abilities of your Pals
Basic skills: All Pals have different abilities. Some are good at planting, while others are more suited as lumberjacks. Passive abilities: Pay attention to the passive abilities as well. These come in three levels and can be both positive and negative. They are randomly assigned to the Pals. Typically, there are two abilities per Pal. However, some may have none or only one ability.
Particularly useful abilities include things like “Workaholic,” resulting in the Pal working 30% faster. Other passive abilities like “Lazy” reduce the speed by 10%. Catch every shiny Pal you can find
Shiny Pals are more or less the Shinys from the Pokémon world: Next to the name of the Pal, a small star symbol also appears on the map, indicating rarity.
Shiny Pals are larger than normal Pals and have much more health points than the standard variants. They also always have very strong passive abilities, which are at level 3 right from the start. This gives you significant advantages for your base or in combat. Moreover, they provide a nice experience points bonus when caught.
Different Pals appear during the day and at night
In Palworld, you can choose to go to bed at night and simply skip the night because your Pals also sleep and do not work. However, in some cases, it can be worthwhile to still walk outside. Some Pals, such as the purple Daedream, only appear at night and can only be caught at night. In particular, creatures with the element “Shadow” tend to appear at night.
In some cases, night-active Pals also appeared during the day for us. However, this was likely a bug. If you encounter a Daedream during the day, it is likely an error. But Palworld is still in Early Access.
At night, you can discover secrets more easily
At night, it is so dark that the so-called Lifmunk statues are very easy to identify. They glow bright green and can be seen very well at night. This way, you can find these or also fast travel points more quickly. Here we recommend increasing the visibility settings in the game. If you have trouble finding the small statues, use the advantage of the darkness. But be careful: Without clothing or a torch, you can freeze at night. So take care of getting clothing quickly, and then you won’t have to worry about the cold of the night. In snowy regions, warm clothing is additionally a must.
Collect everything that glows and sparkles
If you see something glowing and sparkling, you should definitely collect it. This can be various items that provide you advantages:
- Many resources, such as stones or wood, lie on the ground waiting to be collected by you.
- You can also collect skill fruits that allow you to teach your Pals new skills.
- The green glowing figures on pedestals are called Lifmunk statues, which provide you benefits at the statue of strength when catching.
Tip: If you don’t want to miss or overlook items, take the Pal Flopie with you on your travels. Flopie has a team ability “Helper Bunny,” which automatically picks up all items near you.
