The gameplay loop of Palworld is mostly the same as in all survival games: gather, craft, survive. However, you cannot catch Pals infinitely and some resources drop only from them – should you therefore slaughter your Pals?
What is the purpose of catching Pals? In Palworld, Pals are an essential part of life and gameplay:
They serve as mounts on foot, in water, and in the air. Additionally, they can accompany you on your journey and be powerful helpers in battle. When placed in your base, they also take care of the annoying resource grind for you.
Overall, Pals are the perfect companions for survival in Palworld.
Slaughtering Pals – It can be useful
Why should you slaughter Pals? Unfortunately, there are certain items that you cannot obtain without killing Pals. For example, it involves Pal organs and fluids. Here’s a selection:
- Fire gland
- Electric gland
- Ice gland
- Poison gland
- Pal fluid
- Gumoss leaves
- Bones
- Leather
Pal fluids are needed, for example, to build hot springs for your diligent worker bees. Ice glands are an essential part of cooling for your base.
If you pursue a purely pacifist approach, it will also be difficult to get the important legendary blueprints:
Another problem is the maximum capacity of your Pal box: You can catch and store a total of 480 Pals across your three bases. That sounds like a lot, but since capturing the same species of Pal multiple times is rewarded and there are a total of 113 individual Pals, you will hit the capacity limit at the latest in the mid-game.
So do Pals need to be killed or is there another way?
Can you get Pal resources without killing? To obtain resources like the electric glands, you need to either defeat wild Pals or slaughter Pals in your base. Unfortunately, there is no way around this.
Wild Pals remain lifeless in the world after your victory, and you can calmly collect their drops. The defeated creatures have spiral eyes like unconscious anime characters. This can be interpreted as them not being dead, but simply K.O.
.
If you choose to decimate the population of your Pal box with violence, you need the cleaver. You can unlock this from level 12 in the technology tree and craft it with 5 iron bars, 5 stones, and 20 wood.
The slaughtered Pals are truly dead. Also, be careful that no NPCs are watching you here – they might place a bounty on you otherwise.
Can legendary blueprints also be obtained without dead Pals? You have the chance to get legendary blueprints from Alpha Pals even if you catch the Pals – killing is not necessary. However, if you are in a hurry or your Pal box is already full, you can still slaughter the Alpha Pals with the cleaver after catching them. Even then, blueprints can still drop.
Alternatively, you can go on a treasure hunt: Legendary blueprints can also be found in the chests distributed throughout the world.
How do I make room in my Pal box? As mentioned above, you can equip the cleaver and slaughter your Pals. Alternatively, you can sell them to merchants – it doesn’t matter whether they are stationary, wandering, or black market dealers.
If you don’t want to kill your creatures for their resources or sell them, you can still release them: Get the affected Pal into your team and open your team overview. You can now drop them and find a Pal sphere lying on the ground. If you leave it there, it will disappear after a while.
In the end, whether you kill your Pals is entirely up to you. Theoretically, there are ways to obtain most resources like this. How do you approach the problem? Do you leave a trail of unconscious Pals or do you regularly whip out the cleaver? We are looking forward to your comments.
Among the Alpha Pals, there are some tough ones. But the probably toughest among them is a Pegasus that could almost have sprung from a Barbie animated film: Palworld introduces one of its most powerful monsters: players can hardly wait to catch it
