The Pals in Palworld are the heart of the survival shooter: They make everything easier for you, from gathering resources to traveling and fighting. To ensure you never miss a Pal in the future, we have here our guide to everything related to catching Pals.
Why catch Pals at all? Pals populate the Palworld all around. Accordingly, they are crucial for survival: Killed Pals provide you with food and resources. Captured Pals can accompany you, fight for you, or perform various tasks in your camp.
If you refrain from catching Pals, the survival game will noticeably become harder and more time-consuming. You will also not be able to permanently access most items.
Catching Pals and using them is therefore important in the context of Palworld.
Catching Pals – What You Need to Know
How do I catch Pals?
The basic mechanics of catching are quite simple:
- Weaken the Pal that you want to catch. Injure it with weapon attacks or your fists.
- Throw an empty Pal Sphere at the weakened, but not dead Pal.
- Wait until the circle around the floating sphere is closed or the Pal has freed itself.
If the circle around the Pal Sphere is turquoise and shows 100%, you are the proud owner of a new Pal. However, if the Pal has freed itself from the sphere, throw a second one or weaken it a bit more.

Be careful: If you already have a Pal that is currently accompanying you, it will also attack the Pal. This can lead to your target Pal being dead by the time you want to throw the sphere. Your allied Pal will not stop attacking until the opponent is dead.
When possible, we therefore recommend not using your allied Pals for catching. However, this might be different with strong Pals of high level.
What Pal Spheres are there?
You will catch your first Pals in normal Pal Spheres. However, there are many others that you can unlock and use throughout the game:
- Pal Sphere
The standard Pal Sphere in blue. You unlock it at level 2. It can theoretically catch any low-level Pal but has onlynormal
catch chances. Occasionally, you can also find it lying around in the world and pick it up. - Mega Pal Sphere
You unlock the green Pal Sphere at level 14. It can catch Pals of a higher level than the base sphere. To craft it, you must have built a Sphere Workshop level 1. Occasionally, you can also receive this item from chests. - Giga Pal Sphere
The yellow version of the catching item can only be created from level 20. With it, you can finally catch medium-strength Pals. - Hyper Pal Sphere
From level 27 and with a Sphere Workshop level 2, you can craft the Hyper Pal Sphere. It is orange-red and can catch very strong Pals. - Ultra Pal Sphere
The Ultra Pal Sphere is pink. You unlock it at level 35 and need a Sphere Workshop at level 3 for it. The description states that not many Pals can escape this sphere. - Legendary Pal Sphere
Almost no Pal can escape the purple Pal Spheres, which you can create from level 44. This is currently the best version of the item but is also the most expensive to craft.
How do I increase my catch chances?
The higher your catch chance, the more secure it is that the desired Pal remains in the sphere. Here’s how to increase them:
- Weaken the Pal
The weaker the Pal you want to catch is, the higher your catch chance. - Use better Pal Spheres
The better your Pal Sphere, the higher the catch chance. - Offer Lifmunk statues at Statues of Power
You can sacrifice the green-glowing Lifmunk figures at Statues of Power to generally increase your catch chances.
Alternatively, you can also set the catch chance to 100% in the world settings.

Can I catch all Pals?
The game is currently in early access and there are 113 different Pals. You can presumably catch them all. However, this cannot currently be guaranteed. Additionally, there may be only a few or even just one version of certain Pals in the game, which you will miss if you accidentally kill the Pal before you can catch it.
