The map of Palworld is quite large and there is much to explore. Of course, you can do this on foot. However, with a suitable mount it would be even better. Therefore, we have our Top 5 recommendations for traveling over land and our ranking of water mounts for you.
Your first steps through the world of Palworld will be taken in sandals. However, there are a whole range of Pals that you can use as mounts. This naturally allows you to travel significantly faster.
There are a total of three categories of mounts: land mounts for travel on land, water mounts, and flying Pals for fast travel through the air. We will introduce you to land and water mounts in this article. We have already set up our own list for flying Pals.
Please note that we are limiting ourselves here to the Pals that can be caught and freely roam in the world. Through the breeding system, you can theoretically breed any mountable Pal into a very fast mount. For example, a player bred a super fast Direhowl.
The best land mounts – Our Top 5
5. Rayhound
This electric Pal ranks 5th: Rayhound. It can be significantly better than the Pyrin in 4th place. However, you need to upgrade it with Pal essences for that. Then its sprint speed can reach up to 1380.
Its basic stats are as follows:
- Walking Slowly: 110
- Running: 700
- Sprinting: 1150
Rayhound is quite often found roaming in the world. You can find it in the desert area.
4. Pyrin and Pyrin Noct
In 4th place are Pyrin and the night version Pyrin-Noct. The fire Pal takes you quickly and reliably across the map and is fairly fast:
- Walking Slowly: 100
- Running: 850
- Sprinting: 1350
The standard Pyrin can be encountered around the Obsidian Mountain – during the day. If you want the fancy night version, you need to visit the area after sunset.
3. Frostallion and Frostallion Noct
Frostallion and its night version Frostallion Noct enter the Top 3. This powerful level 50 Alpha Pal was recently also featured in a new video. By the way, it is also one of the best battle Pals overall.
Here are its stats – these are the same for both versions:
- Walking Slowly: 120
- Running: 1000
- Sprinting: 1500

2. Paladius
This Pal is one of the strongest in Palworld. This is also reflected in its stats as a mount:
- Walking Slowly: 50
- Running: 800
- Sprinting: 1400
Paladius is a pure Alpha Pal. It awaits you at level 50 in the north of the desert at 446 and 681. Use the teleporter “Sandy Dunes Hinterland”.
1. Necromus
Necromus is the night equivalent of Paladius. Unlike the Noct variants, it is a standalone Pal that differs from its daytime counterpart not only in color but also in equipment.
It can also double jump, which makes it a bit more useful. Here are its stats:
- Walking Slowly: 100
- Running: 900
- Sprinting: 1600
The fastest land mount is a level 50 Alpha Pal. You can find it at 446 and 681 near the teleporter “Sandy Dunes Hinterland”.
The best mounts for traveling over water
Currently, there are unfortunately only exactly three different mounts in Palworld that can take you over water. Here we rank them for you.
Your first water mount: Surfent
The first water mount you will encounter is probably Surfent. This Pal is relatively often found in the world compared to the other two and can be captured quickly. However, it is also the worst of the three:
- Walking Slowly: 100
- Running: 500
- Sprint: 650
You can find Surfent in these locations: Sealed Realm of the Thunder Dragon and Sealed Realm of the Swordmaster. At night, it also appears at the Sealed Realm of the Stalwart.
The best Pal on water: Jormuntide
With Jormuntide, you can travel quickly and reliably over water. It is also an extremely good battle Pal. Thus, it is the perfect all-rounder among the three water mounts. Here are its stats:
- Walking Slowly: 400
- Running: 525
- Sprint: 700
Jormuntide is found twice as an Alpha Pal: at 349 and -84 near the bridge teleporter. The second location is at -180 and -270 when you teleport to the researchers’ crossroads.
The fastest Pal on water: Azurobe
Azurobe is the Pal that will take you over water the fastest:
- Walking Slowly: 75
- Running: 600
- Sprint: 800
This Pal is a level 17 Alpha Pal, which you can face at -52 and -387 at the water body west of the Twin Knights’ bridge. Alternatively, you can also encounter it in Wildlife Sanctuary No. 1.
