The legendary blueprints in Palworld provide you with powerful weapons and armor. However, one way to obtain them is rather dishonorable and requires you to slaughter your Pals. A player on Reddit has been struggling with this.
What are legendary blueprints? In Palworld, there are different types of blueprints. While the regular ones can be purchased from the traveling merchant, you will have to deal with Alpha Pals for the legendary blueprints.
Alpha Pals are stronger versions of the normal Pals. You can recognize them by their size and the red name at the top of the screen. These enemies respawn every 60 minutes.
You can defeat Alpha Pals and hope for a drop rate of about 3% for the blueprints. Alternatively, you might randomly find one of the blueprints in a gold chest.
Another option is significantly more painful. At least for the Pals you have captured.
You can double your drop chance – if you can bring yourself to do it
How else can you obtain the legendary blueprints? Another way to potentially receive one of the valuable drops involves the butcher knife. You can unlock it starting at level 12 in the technology tree.
This allows the game to let you slaughter your own Pals. Yes, you read that right. The Pals you carefully captured. Those who help keep your base running and assist you in combat.
What is the point of this? As mentioned earlier, only Alpha Pals drop the legendary blueprints. For example, when you defeat them. A player recently found a creative method for this. However, since Alpha Pals only spawn every 60 minutes, farming can take a long time. Moreover, when defeating Pals, you only have a chance to receive the valuable drop.
If you instead capture the Alpha Pals, you initially have a chance for the drop upon capturing them. If this attempt fails, you have the option to slaughter the Pal afterwards, giving you another chance at a legendary blueprint. So if you really want one, it might be worthwhile to discard your own morals and be truly cruel.
Which Alpha Pals drop legendary blueprints? So that you don’t start slaughtering your Pals indiscriminately, we have created a own list of all legendary blueprints and which Pals drop them.
A player on Reddit doesn’t want to harm their Pals
Do players take advantage of this option? At least one player has spoken up on Reddit and asked if he was the only one who did not slaughter his Pals. He felt bad at the thought of it and hadn’t even crafted the knife.
In response to his question, many other players with far fewer qualms chimed in. The user BushyOreo admits that he left the Pals alone, but only until he started farming for the legendary blueprints. The decisive factor was the extra chance that slaughtering provides compared to just capturing or defeating them.
Other players have succumbed to the enticing opportunity:
- RW_Blackbird writes: “After I found out how high the drop rate for the blueprints is, I might have to set my morals aside…”
- ChiefHunter1 states: “I have captured every Pal in the game and reached level 50, but never unlocked the knife. But now every legendary Pal I catch will be chopped up until I get the blueprints.”
In the end, it is a matter of your morals. Since the drop chance for the legendary blueprints is only 3%, it is not surprising that some players eventually change their minds. On the other hand, one player has decided to play Palworld completely without the titular Pals.
