Paladins is neither an Overwatch clone nor a failure for developers Hi Rez Studios. As the hero shooter title is currently doing exceptionally well on Steam, the organizers for the upcoming eSports tournament in January have allowed more teams to participate.
Paladins went into open beta on September 16, and within the first 24 hours, over 100,000 accounts were registered. This allowed the hero shooter from Hi Rez Studios to enter the list of the top 10 most played games on Valve’s distribution platform straight off the bat.
This pleased the developers at Hi Rez Studios, and since the game is quite popular among competitive players, they have quickly expanded the upcoming Paladins tournament in January 2017. As a result, teams from Brazil, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and China can now qualify in regional championships for the major tournament. A prize pool of 150,000 US dollars is at stake.
