The positive reactions to Rockstar Games’ announcement of the open-world western game Red Dead Redemption 2 even surprised the developers.
They could have guessed it, though, because fans have been asking for a sequel for years. The predecessor was a great success, and GTA 5 has shown how well Rockstar Games’ titles are received. It was somehow clear that the response to a new game would be very positive. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick explains that they were very pleased that the announcement was received so positively.
Now is the right time for RDR 2
The trailer was better received than the studio thought. The number of people who watched the trailer exceeds what Take-Two and Rockstar Games expected. Expectations for the open-world game are huge. For the first game, there was a belief that the western setting would not work, but they tried it anyway. Because sometimes Westerns are very well received under certain conditions. And Red Dead Redemption showed that this was indeed the case. Now is exactly the right time to bring out another western game.
They now want to offer a large, expansive, and optimistic view of America, but it will not be sweet. Red Dead Redemption 2 is supposed to provide a very deep emotional gaming experience. It will offer great story and great gameplay elements.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is set to be released in Fall 2017 and will also feature an online mode. However, nothing is known about it yet.

In The Division, an NPC was quietly removed. The reason: Agents found him annoying.
A few weeks ago, Update 1.4 was released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It brought a variety of fundamental changes, which you can read about in the patch notes. However, one change did not make it into the nearly 7000 words of the patch notes: a crying woman was removed. She was bothering the players.
This is at least how a Ubisoft spokesperson is quoted, who confirmed via email to Kotaku:
The community feedback indicated that players found the crying “annoying”, therefore she was removed.
The woman was therefore deliberately removed from the game by the developers. It is not a bug or a technical problem.
Here the huddled woman is still present
Does this count as “Quality of Life” improvements?
This crying woman was certainly not a top priority issue. She did not contribute to the lack of balance in the shared-world shooter, she was not responsible for cheating, and she was not the reason why players and even developers said before 1.4: “The game is not fun right now”.
This change can probably be categorized as a “Quality of Life” improvement. Massive emphasized multiple times that they want to make small changes that gradually make life in the post-apocalypse more pleasant. For example, the big hate object, “The Stairs”, has been revised to the great joy of the agents. Since the sobbing woman was apparently considered annoying, it is therefore consistent that Massive removed her from the game.
The woman is now gone
This mourning NPC was located in a safe house east of the Dark Zone, in “The Grindhouse”. She was supposed to constantly remind the agents that many people died in the post-apocalypse.
However, she was simply annoying to many players since launch. Months ago, a GameFAQs survey on the most important things to be patched showed that “the damn woman” should finally be quiet:
That damn woman crying continuously in The Grindhouse safe house. Shut up!!
Those who farm a lot of gold in WoW could soon buy Packs in Hearthstone . The latest patch strongly suggests that.
The latest update from the PTR to Patch 7.1.5 in World of Warcraft contained some lines of code that have sparked significant speculation. According to this, the “WoW Token” will soon be exchangeable not only for game time but also for “Battle.net Credit.”
The new description of the WoW Token would be: “Adds 30 days of game time to your World of Warcraft account or X to your Battle.net Credit.”
How much credit you get for purchasing a token is not yet clear from the data. However, it can at least be assumed that it has a value of around 13 euros – the cost of a one-month WoW subscription.
This Battle.net Credit could then also be used in other games to purchase loot boxes in Overwatch or card packs in Hearthstone.
Until there is official confirmation, these are just isolated lines of code and speculations.
Loot boxes in exchange for WoW Gold? That would soon be possible.
Cortyn says: I really like the idea of converting earned gold into currency to be able to buy things in other Blizzard games. This does remind me of an almost 10-year-old joke, where players told a newbie that he could sell his gold to Blizzard, which the developers would then use to pay for server costs. But that shows how much things have changed. In general, I would like the idea – the only question is which services will be affected and what exactly the “Battle.net Balance” will be. Just a display in euros? Or a new “fantasy currency” like Blizzard Points? We will surely find out soon.

In Destiny today, on November 18th, the Exotic dealer arrives. Where is Xur and what items does he have on offer?
Currently, there isn’t much going on in Bungie’s MMO shooter. The routine is slowly settling in. The greatest secrets of “Rise of Iron” have probably been discovered, the challenge modes of the new raid are known, the “Festival of the Lost 2016” is history – now daily life reigns. However, outside the main game, there were this week Destiny news: The developers talked about the creation of “Wrath of the Machine” and on the Bungie website, Twitch features are now available.
The next event, which is upcoming in December, is the Sparrow Racing League, short: SRL. This year’s event is supposed to be bigger than in 2015. However, information about it is still scarce.
You don’t have to just sit idle until then. How you can reach Light Level 400, you can learn here. Also, Xur is coming today. Does he have anything exciting? Let’s take a look at his inventory together.
All about Xur in Destiny on November 18th, 19th, and 20th on PS4 and Xbox One
When does Xur arrive? When does Xur leave?
Xur is coming today! More specifically, at 10 AM our time. He appears out of nowhere, picks a nice location, chats with the Guardians, shows them his inventory, stuffs his pockets with Strange Coins, and disappears again on Sunday. Also at 10 AM.
Where is Xur? What is his location this weekend?
The mysterious dealer spends each of his weekends in the Tower or in the Reef. This time, Xur is located in the Reef.
What does Xur have in Destiny? What is his offer today?
Xur has the automatic rifle SUROS Regime available as a weapon. It costs 23 Strange Coins.
Players are not satisfied with the current settings of the Rent-A-Server system. The developers are already planning more options for private servers.
If you do not want to play on random servers in Battlefield 1, you now have the option to search for or rent private servers thanks to the latest Patch 1.04. On private servers, there are various options to customize the servers to your preferences. However, some players feel that the current options are not versatile enough, which is why they complained on Reddit. DICE responded regarding which features are already in development.
Battlefield 1 – Private Servers and Their Settings
On Reddit, the user GrowlmonDrgnbutt wrote a thread warning other players about the rent-a-server system. He said he rented a server for 7 days to find out if DICE/EA learned from past mistakes. However, he was disappointed with the available settings.
In a map rotation, only up to 6 maps can be at the same time.
There is also no ban list that allows admins to ban players from their own server. There is no banning feature for server admins neither within nor outside the game.
There is no server menu that would allow you to start the next map, kick players, or activate team balance.
A skill-based auto-balance cannot be disabled.
There is no player list outside the server showing how many/which players are on the server.
You cannot reserve server slots for yourself, admins, or VIPs.
Players cannot be appointed as admins because there are no admin rights on a server.
Percentage settings can only be made with fixed values. If you want to change the respawn time, you can choose between 50%, 100%, or 200%. However, you cannot enter your own percentage values but must use the ones provided by the game.
Specific weapons cannot be banned, only entire weapon types.
In summary, GrowlmonDrgnbutt is dissatisfied with the current server situation. In the comments to his thread, other users have not given up hope yet. The user Plopfish hopes that the developers just haven’t finished implementing the missing features like bans, admins, and in-game server settings. The response from DICE employee Striterax might please some players.
Developers Respond to Missing Features for Private Servers
Also on Reddit, Striterax from the DICE development team stated that they are aware of the missing features and are already working on additional settings. These include:
Admin control
VIP queue
Higher number of maps for the rotation
More targeted weapon bans
Banners for custom servers
Map voting
“Snipers only”
Moreover, further changes are already planned, as Striterax mentioned in his comment.
Are you using the Rent-A-Server system in Battlefield 1?

However, you need to own the base game to participate. Those who bought it at launch but haven’t even checked out the dark side of the force now get access to the three DLCs: Outer Rim, Bespin, and the Death Star. This means that all maps and game modes can be played. Additionally, EA is offering quadruple EXP this weekend.

At Destiny, Bungie provides detailed information about player matchmaking in the Crucible. A bug was fixed yesterday.
In the “This Week at Bungie,” the focus is on fairness in the Crucible. In recent days, the discussion about player matchmaking has flared up again – an emotional topic, as DeeJ recently emphasized multiple times on Twitter.
Therefore, this week’s letter to the community will be used to lay out the matchmaking criteria. The last time Bungie adjusted the player search settings was in August. Since then, they have been working according to these criteria:
A stable connection with other players.
The time spent in orbit between matches should be minimized.
Matches between worthy opponents – skill criteria.
In this order. This is intended to ensure quick and fair matches in the Crucible. The principle is: the more players are active in PvP, the more balanced the matchmaking can be. However, connection quality always remains the deciding factor.
How player matchmaking works
Bungie also outlines the steps of how a suitable match is found for you. These are, however, greatly simplified, as complex engineering is involved. We quote:
First, we identify the available players with a good connection to you.
Among them, we select those whose skill rating is similar to yours.
If we can’t find any players, we expand the skill variance.
And if THAT doesn’t work either, we broaden the search based on connection quality.
Once enough players have been selected, we group them into equally skilled teams.
By the way: Your skills do not matter in the matchmaking for the Trials of Osiris. You will be matched with players who have a good connection and a similar scorecard.
For more information on player matchmaking, visit the Bungie page.
Furthermore, DeeJ reports that a bug was identified and fixed yesterday. Apparently, the skill rating was incorrectly calculated in variants of the Control mode (such as Rumble, Inferno, Iron Banner).
What does the future hold?
The letter ends with a look into the future: Next week is Thanksgiving, but nothing special is expected here. “Blog fodder for all the readers.”
The week after, Bungie will head to Anaheim, California. However, it is still a secret what they will be doing there. The PlayStation Experience will take place in Anaheim on December 3rd and 4th. The English-speaking site vg247 speculates that there could be announcements about Destiny 2.
Christ Metzen’s true reasons for his resignation are health-related. Panic attacks plagued his life.
For many fans, it was a horrifying announcement, when it became known that Chris Metzen was leaving Blizzard. He is one of the creative minds behind the many stories of Warcraft, Starcraft, and all the other universes that Blizzard has created over the years. The reason for his early retirement was that he felt burnt out and wanted to spend time on the things that really matter in life: his family.
But that was only half the truth. In a long interview with Scott Johnson, the former developer discussed the reasons that played into his decision. After 23 years of constant pressure to perform, the expectations became overwhelming. After every project, there was always the claim to surpass oneself again. This was coupled with the growing fear of disappointing Blizzard and the fans, and causing damage to the company’s image. But it didn’t end there. This burden became so great that Metzen regularly experienced panic attacks.
Metzen also voiced the original character of Thrall. He will continue to do so in the future.
“I repeatedly had panic attacks and constant fear. Before I went into retirement, I believe I had panic attacks almost every day, but I didn’t know what they were. Kat [his wife] and I went on a date and wanted to watch a movie, and most of the time I would panic in the middle of the film. I had no idea what was going on.”
If you’re interested in the full interview, take a look at our sources. While there are no secrets about upcoming games, there is plenty of insight into daily work at Blizzard and the issues Metzen faced. It is certainly interesting even for non-Blizzard fans.
Cortyn says: I am still sad that Metzen is leaving the gaming scene as one of the creative minds. However, I can now understand the reasons much better, as when work affects one’s psyche and makes a normal life almost impossible, drawing a line is the only salvation. Let us hope that things get better for the good gentleman soon – perhaps his path will lead him back someday.

In a comic teaser, Riot introduces the new “League of Legends” champion Camille. Here you can see the first images!
A new champion is on the way to the Summoner’s Rift. She calls herself Camille and at first glance looks like a mobile assassin. In a multi-page comic, Riot presents the new champion, who will probably find her way into the game soon.
In a comic teaser, Riot introduces the new champion Camille. There, you also get a taste of her possible abilities. With 2 hooks, she can presumably anchor herself to the terrain and pull herself to that location. However, she might also be able to pull herself back to an origin point.
She appears to be a melee assassin who, with her cold demeanor, leaves her opponents no chance. In the comic, she is begged to spare a man. However, she ignores this plea and kills him with the words “in the end, they always disappoint you.”
Visually, Camille resembles a robot/cyborg. Her “legs” look like deadly blades and her face has similarly angular lines, like Orianna.

Shooters are not just for young people. This veteran is over 70 years old and is visibly enjoying Battlefield 1.
Sharing the passion for computers with his grandchildren is not easy for many older people. Often, the technical understanding or interest is lacking. This war veteran looked at his grandson’s computer game and was so excited about it that they played the story mode of Battlefield 1 as a team. The grandson handled the keyboard while his grandfather took care of aiming and shooting with the mouse.
War veteran plays Battlefield 1 with his grandson
On Reddit, the user Gunnerkes, wrote that his grandfather loves Battlefield 1! The war veteran is in his late seventies and served in the Army Air Corps for 15 years. Also, Gunnerkes is serving in the military and has been there for 12.5 years.
He decided to show his grandfather the game, especially the story part with the aerial combat. His grandfather needed some time to learn how to use the mouse, as he usually does not use a computer. While the grandson took control of the keyboard, the grandfather was responsible for aiming and shooting with the mouse.
Gunnerkes says, his grandfather was overwhelmed and had a racing heart from excitement. They sat together at the computer for hours playing the airplane missions from beginning to end. Together, they have now also played and filmed the tank missions.

In this Sombra appearance at a professional Overwatch tournament, a player provided particularly good entertainment!
Recently, patch 1.5 has been released for Overwatch, which among other things introduced the new heroine Sombra into the game. Many players want to try out Sombra immediately and use her abilities against other players. How annoying this can be in ranked play has been described by Cortyn in a Grumbling Wednesday about Sombra. But even the pros want to play with Sombra right away and use her not only in ranked games but even in tournaments.
Hacking to Victory with Sombra?
During a third-party Overwatch tournament, Kim “Esca” In-jae decided to give the new heroine a chance. Esca is no unknown player, as he won the Overwatch World Championships with his South Korean team and currently plays for Team Lunatic-Hai. In a match against Team Mighty Storm, he showcased his Sombra tactics on the Anubis map.
At the start of the game, Esca as Sombra runs out of the base towards the opponents. Just before they can see him, he uses the heroine’s invisibility ability to slip unnoticed behind enemy lines. The invisibility is time-limited, so he chooses a short, direct path to reach a safe point. While he is on the way to this point on the map, his teammates distract the opponents by attacking them with many abilities.
Everything is going according to plan, and Esca is ready to confuse Team Mighty Storm with a surprise attack from behind. For a brief moment, the camera switches to the rest of the action, showing the other players. When the camera returns to Esca, he has already been spotted by the enemy Ana.
In the linked video, you can see whether the special Sombra tactic works. The described round starts at about 1 hour and 8 minutes.

The complete patch notes will be released on Monday.
A personnel change at Star Citizen causes mockery and excitement. A designer from No Man’s Sky is now working for them.
It’s actually no big deal: developers, even those in important positions, regularly switch jobs when a project is completed. Gareth Bourn, according to his LinkedIn page, has done just that. He previously spent five and a half years at Hello Games, where he worked as a designer on “No Man’s Sky” – now he is joining Star Citizen as a Live Designer.
Interestingly, No Man’s Sky is a controversial project, which many accuse of having promised things that it then did not deliver. Some ominously suggest that such a thing could also happen with the mammoth project Star Citizen.
Switching from a sinking canoe to a sinking luxury liner
Chris Roberts has an online adversary, the game designer and passionate Twitter artist “Derek Smart”, a provocateur – as one could hardly imagine worse. In his opinion, Star Citizen is a huge scam, Roberts and his wife are morally corrupt, and the whole endeavor is just a trick to line their pockets. The whole project, according to Smart, will soon evaporate.
Smart seizes the opportunity to once again get a jab at his opponent. He mockingly comments on the No Man’s Sky designer’s switch:
In other news @GjBourn of Hello Games (No Mans Sky) quit quietly from one sinking canoe to a sinking luxury cruise liner. Because reasons.
Someone is quietly switching from a sinking canoe to a sinking luxury liner.
Sort of a “Perfect Storm” of video game discussion and hatred
A heated discussion is ignited on Reddit regarding the change, which has already reached 1200 comments. It’s a kind of “Perfect Storm” in the world of video games, as both games are typically discussed passionately and at length: articles about Star Citizen often achieve record comment values (but not necessarily record clicks). No Man’s Sky has caused quite a stir in recent months.
Are these strokes of genius or is there a threat of huge flops, even deceit against paying customers? Opinions differ on both games. There are enthusiastic admirers and bitter mockers, and they clash once again.
Where the court has already rendered its verdict on No Man’s Sky, the jury for Star Citizen is still out and searching for a verdict. Recently, things looked relatively good for the title: a presentation at Gamescom elicited many “Ooohs” and “Aaahs.”
Blizzard has released a video about the cosplays of BlizzCon 2016. Check out the stylish costumes here!
One of the major highlights of BlizzCon every year is the cosplay contest, where anyone interested can showcase their own costumes that represent various characters from the Blizzard universes. Although the event isn’t directly related to the games compared to all the panels and new announcements, it is nonetheless one of the big highlights for many people. This year, Blizzard also took the time to showcase the various costumes in a stylish video.

Even if not everything goes as planned, and occasionally a hammer breaks during the video shoot, it is always a nice thing to see people who approach the matter with so much passion.
Cortyn says: I am always amazed by the attention to detail that many people show when it comes to crafting an elaborate costume. The unacknowledged hero of the event is of course the little child in the Murloc costume, bravely standing up against the guards of Stormwind. Unfortunately, even a female Ragnaros or a Lich Queen cannot top the cuteness factor for me – although they also look pretty awesome.

Legendary items are now stronger, even though World of Warcraft does not display it correctly.
The latest hotfix from World of Warcraft: Legion has fixed some bugs and also increased the item level of rewards from the Trials of Valor by 5 item levels.
However, the update had another change that many players have longed for: Legendary items now have an item level of 910. This applies to both legendaries that just dropped as well as those already in the player’s possession.
Yet just a few minutes after the mini patch, players stormed the official forums to loudly declare: Blizzard has tricked us, our legendary items are still only at item level 895. Others speak of a bug and that it would be “just typical for this to happen to me” – we all know that feeling.
The truth is simple: All legendary items from Legion have indeed been raised to item level 910. However, it may be that items still display as 895 when viewed. The character, however, benefits from the increased stats, and the average item level of the gear should already reflect the changes.
How to fix the display error
If you want to fix the display error, simply close World of Warcraft and the Battle.net software, then navigate to the World of Warcraft directory. Open the folder named “Cache” and delete all contents of the folder. Don’t worry, the files will be automatically recreated on the next startup of the game.
After that, restart World of Warcraft, and all items should now be displayed with the correct values.
Revelation Online looks like an Asia grinder, but far from it. A complex system of different quest types provides variety while leveling up and quick character progression without the annoying grind.
Anyone who has already played the first beta of Revelation Online surely noticed the many quests offered in different, color-coded categories. For example, one could follow the story for hours and earn experience points without having to engage in any significant combat!
Anyone who diligently watches all cutscenes and visits sights like the elaborate statue of the Black Empress receives experience points and faction bonuses alongside this view.
No one has to grind here!
The complex story, which we barely understood in the beta due to the language barrier, thus brings a lot of XP, and those who watch the cutscenes to the end even receive special reputation points with the storyteller faction, one of 20 NPC groups in the game. In addition to the story quests, which are yellow-colored, there are other quest types. These are all color-coded for easy differentiation:
Red: Non-story quests
Green: Daily and weekly quests
Blue: Faction tasks
Purple: Training quests through which we learn the game
With this massive range of quests, which interestingly rarely require a larger number of dead monsters or obscure collectible items, we can level up and develop our heroes at will. So, there is no talk of annoying grinding at the current state of the game!
The story also brings massive experience points.
What do you think of the quest system in Revelation Online? During my beta period, I was really surprised at how many XP I got just from the story and how little grind there was in the game. Sometimes I even longed for a proper grind, because the combat system of Revelation is so great. Let us know your thoughts on the topic and write them in the comments.
After Bioware has already excited fans in Star Wars: The Old Republic with the grand cinematic trailer “Betrayed” for the new add-on Knights of the Eternal Throne, another video follows. This time, unfortunately, there are “only” in-game cutscenes, which are no less exciting. It’s about your hero’s fight against the new galactic ruler and your own path to the Eternal Throne of the Zakuul Star Empire.
Being the Emperor yourself
After the spectacular end of Knights of the Fallen Empire, the new expansion Knights of the Eternal Throne seems to be about your own way to becoming the ruler of the galaxy. The epic battles in this conflict are already extensively shown in the trailer and make you crave for more. The start of the add-on is on December 2, 2016.
The intergalactic “Game of Thrones” also comes with the new story episodes alongside a new gameplay feature, with which you can manage your game progress centrally via a “Command Menu”. This way, you conquer the galaxy step by step and can also complete special missions to expand your rule. The story missions are repeatable this time, even at higher difficulty levels and even in coop!
Jürgen says: I am currently playing through the Fallen Empire story again with a different character, and I’m already looking forward to the new add-on and the missions like a “Lobelot”. The trailer definitely makes you want more, and I can hardly wait for the launch. Do you feel the same way or is the solo content of SWTOR in an MMO not right for you?

In the MMO shooter Destiny, we look at how strong the Juggernaut really is. Can it withstand a Chaos Fist?
Especially in PvP, the Striker Titan is feared: With the Chaos Fist, he disintegrates entire strike teams in a surge of Arc Light, with the shoulder charge he mows down enemies in passing, or he protects himself from attacks with the Juggernaut Shield. With “Rise of Iron,” the Striker was weakened, however, he is still a powerful class in the Crucible.
The YouTuber Venero TV took a closer look at the focus node “Juggernaut” in the following video. This grants the Titan a shield after a short sprint. He investigated the question: “What can this shield actually withstand?”. You can see the result here:

Within a few hours, the video was able to achieve thousands of views, showing a great interest from the Guardians in this experiment. Venero TV came to some surprising conclusions.
Juggernaut withstands more than you think
The Juggernaut Shield can withstand about 100 damage points. Two shots from a hand cannon can break it, then. However, if you deal more than the required 100 damage points with a sniper rifle, the shield will be destroyed, but the Titan will not take any damage.
However, there are weapons and super attacks that can shatter the shield with a single hit and eliminate the Guardian. This includes the sword, the rocket launcher, the Arc blade, the hammer, the Nova bomb, and the Stormcaller.
The Golden Gun and the Hunter Arrow are “easily taken” by the shield. Surprisingly, the Juggernaut Titan can even withstand a direct Chaos Fist. Only the shield disintegrates. However: The expanding wave of the Chaos Fist that travels along the ground kills the shield bearer.
Further tests regarding grenades, the throwing knife, or the shoulder charge can be found in the video above.
Changes like the Pharah buff can drastically alter the ranking of heroes on the tier list. These tier lists are created by fan sites and are rankings of how strong individual heroes in Overwatch are perceived at the moment.
We have taken a look at the three most popular tier lists to create a current top 5 of Overwatch heroes for you. These heroes are likely to always be a safe choice to effectively support your team and help you win matches in the new season!
Rank 5: Pharah
“You can completely rely on me.”
Pharah is able to wipe out an entire team with her barrage while hovering like an Egyptian goddess over the battlefield. She can assess situations from above before launching her lethal attack. Moreover, she is not easily shot down from the air, making her a frustrating opponent. She is a solid choice when you are on the right map.
Her latest buff allows her to touch the ground very rarely. This is particularly advantageous for her strengths.
