In Destiny, playing should become legendary. Developer Bungie also enjoys working on its own legend.
The studio is known for keeping things under wraps. But quite a lot has come to light about the origin story of Destiny from anonymous sources in recent years.
It is said that the story was discarded, personal egos played a role – numerous problems ultimately led to a rather strange release with a fragmented story – the famous “I don’t even have time to explain why I don’t have time to explain” scene is well known.
Bungie rewrites its own legend – and in a rather American way
It’s understandable that Bungie would prefer people to talk differently about the game’s creation. They are working on their own legend.
Just before the presentation of Destiny 2, an article appeared on Mashable. The author of the article had access to Bungie developers: a rarity.
The origin story of Destiny described here is thoroughly American. It’s not about conflicts, egos, or cash, but about embarking on new shores and how exciting it all is. The article tells how everyone at Bungie pulled together to achieve a common goal.
That Bungie had to give up the rights to Halo to Microsoft is described as “an expensive price for freedom”.
Presentation on a sunny July day
The transition from Halo to Destiny is portrayed as a journey. A crucial day is in July 2010, when the heads of Bungie presented Destiny to their employees with the goal of getting everyone on board. Naturally, it went fantastically.
Notably, there is a scene where Jonty Barnes goes outside after the ultra-important presentation and looks into the bright light, blinded by the beautiful day. Bungie had organized ice cream and barbecue. Then employees say how great it is to be at Bungie. They came to the studio to work on such fantastically exciting projects like Destiny.
In the staging, the only thing missing is that white doves rise in the background.
Destiny as a shooter for teenagers – That’s why there’s no sex in Destiny
You can take an interesting, new piece of information away from the article: Destiny has been designed from the beginning as a game that can be played by a 7-year-old. Destiny was aimed at an older audience, but nonetheless, this was an important design goal.
It is one of the seven core pillars behind the Destiny franchise that Destiny can be played by a 7-year-old.
This means:
that Destiny had to be super accessible – from the very beginning.
Bungie wanted a world where there is no swearing.
Destiny is meant to be a game that can be played by father and son together.
The Halo games had an “M” rating, for mature audiences. However, with the shooter Destiny, Bungie aimed for a “Teen Rating” – and actually achieved this in the US version. Destiny received a “Teen rating” from the ESRB: “12 and up”. Here in Europe, the game is rated “16 and up” by the USK and PEGI.
Europe and the USA are indeed different – not only in the way legends are told.

In just four months, the release of FIFA 18 is expected in September 2017.
So far, there is hardly any official information about it. Only Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA, provided a glimpse of FIFA 18: It is supposed to build on the foundation laid by FIFA 17, continue the story mode “The Journey” and bring innovative changes.
But what innovations can fans look forward to?
We probably won’t get an answer to that until E3 in June. Until then, we can make assumptions, speculations, and wishes for FIFA 18.
These are the things we wish for FIFA 18
The FIFA fan community has concrete and diverse ideas on how to improve FIFA 18 compared to FIFA 17. The wishes range from a complete overhaul of some game modes to visual, cosmetic adjustments. All these ideas would exceed our “Top 10” list by far.
Therefore, we will now list ten wishes that are particularly frequently mentioned in worldwide FIFA forums and that we would also like to see realized in FIFA 18.
The highest priority: Gameplay!
EA Sports can come up with the coolest modes and features, but they all fade into the background if one thing is not right: The gameplay. Because as Adi Preißler once rightly pointed out: “The decisive factor is on the field.”
Every year, EA Sports advertises that the gameplay becomes even more realistic. The players become smarter, recognize spaces better, position themselves cleverly or defend more intelligently. However, in practice, curious scenes and wild actions on the virtual pitch repeatedly cause laughter or frustration.
In recent years, there has indeed been some progress in gameplay, but there is still plenty of room for improvement. An AI (artificial intelligence) that less frequently opens up spaces at the back for the opponent or suddenly stops in a sprint so that the pass doesn’t reach its target could certainly be further refined. Because it should not be the AI, but the performance of the players that decides the outcome of a match.
Our wish: FIFA 18 should come a little closer to this goal.
Two other important aspects of gameplay:
The goalkeepers: The times of catastrophic goalkeepers (FIFA 15!) are over and hopefully will not return. However, even in FIFA 16 and FIFA 17, devastating goalkeeper errors could still be observed. In FIFA 18, goalkeeper AI should become even smarter.
The referees: Every FIFA player knows them: Games where the referee whistles everything against you. Sometimes the accusations against the referee may be unjustified, yet everyone can agree that referees often whistle very “adventurously”. If a light touch results in a yellow card and the referee lets a sliding tackle from behind, in which the player spectacularly flies across the field, go unpunished in the same game, controllers may well smash against the wall. Here, the AI could certainly be optimized.
A unique character in “The Journey”
With FIFA 17, a story mode was introduced for the first time in the FIFA series. In “The Journey“, the story of young football talent Alex Hunter is told as he rises to become a world star. The events take place not only on the pitch but also off the pitch – in the locker room, at the training ground, and in Alex’s apartment.
The community generally received “The Journey” well. However, two changes were frequently requested:
More of it! The Journey only covers one season. After that, it’s over. Many players expected a longer story.
More customization options: In The Journey, you cannot customize your character. His name is always Alex Hunter, he always looks the same, and it is always played in the Premier League. It would be a welcome change if at least a few outer characteristics of the protagonist could be adjusted freely.
It is already known that the story mode will continue in FIFA 18, with new characters and new storylines. Whether customization will also come remains to be seen.
A return of futsal – How about it?
For many fans, FIFA 98 is considered the best FIFA of all time. The reason: futsal! For years, fans have been demanding the return of this mode, which excited numerous players back in the day.
And FIFA 18 would be a good opportunity for a comeback: After all, futsal will celebrate its 20th anniversary in FIFA. EA Sports could certainly make many fans happy with this. However, so far, there are no signs that futsal will ever make a comeback.

FUT 18 – Legends for everyone in Ultimate Team
We don’t have to worry about the “Ultimate Team” mode. It will also be included in FIFA 18 – with some innovations, according to Andrew Wilson.
The “Ultimate Team” modes bring in tons of money for EA, which is why they are also to be transferred to other EA games in the medium term. To keep FUT interesting year after year, new features, new modes, and new cards are introduced in FIFA.
Last year, two significant innovations were introduced with SBCs and FUT Champions. We will likely find out which innovations are coming in FUT 18 only in the summer.
One thing we wish for FUT 18: Legends for everyone. Since FIFA 14, Legends cards have been exclusive to Xbox players due to a marketing deal between Microsoft and EA. According to a leak, there is supposed to be a similar deal between Sony and EA for FIFA 18. That one player community is completely excluded from Legends cards (these are not time-limited but exclusive) should not be repeated in FIFA 18.
A wish that is especially voiced from Germany: The Third League. However, the licenses for this league lie with the German Football Association, which EA would need to negotiate with.
Many fans would welcome the opportunity to finally (again) play with their favorite clubs that are currently in the Third League in FIFA. More than a year ago, a statement from EA producer Sebastian Enrique brought hope: “I always push our licensing team to get more. I can’t promise anything, but the Third League is on our list of things our community wants.”
Pro Clubs needs improvement
“Pro Clubs” is the most popular mode for many players. Many buy the annual FIFA edition exclusively to play this mode with their friends.
In Pro Clubs, team play is highly emphasized. Each player takes on a position on the field, allowing for 11v11 matches. In practice, however, the games usually take place in smaller groups, such as 4v4.
Many fans of the club mode have felt disadvantaged for years: This mode is overshadowed by FUT and is only treated marginally by EA Sports (since it does not generate money through microtransactions). In recent years, Pro Clubs has indeed seen few innovations. Only in FIFA 17 was the progression system revised.
However, this mode, which offers the most intense online experience in FIFA, still has great potential that the developers can tap into for FIFA 18. Emphasizing the social component, introducing a more exciting progression system, and increasing goals. In short: Don’t let this great mode wither away!
Let us play unfair
In soccer simulations of earlier days, there was the option to dive and commit “deliberate fouls” at the press of a button, where players would jump into opponents with their soles forward.
This typically resulted in a red card, but it was immensely helpful for venting frustration. Many casual gamers would like to see such unfair actions again. After all, dives and deliberate fouls are also seen in real football.
What impact this will have on game balance and how these unfair actions will ultimately be received by fans is questionable. If the opponent gets away with a dive, for example, the anger towards the referee and the opponent is boundless. This additional frustration potential is likely something developers want to avoid.
More love for the career mode
The career mode is similar to Pro Clubs: While FUT is becoming bigger and brighter, innovations are scarce here. However, the career is a traditional and still popular mode.
But criticism of the career mode grows year by year: EA Sports is neglecting the “Career Mode”. It becomes boring too quickly, and it lacks a real challenge.
Interestingly, an EA employee also sees it this way. He identifies the problem that you only compete against CPU-controlled teams in career mode, leading to a lack of variety. Because of this, he started a petition a few months ago to gauge the interest of the FIFA community in a “Connected Career” that adds an online component. This way, you could compete with your team against your friends.
This petition comes too late for FIFA 18. The earliest we can expect an implementation is in future installments. But for FIFA 18, the same applies: Don’t forget the career mode.
VR – FIFA 18 in virtual reality?
In 2016, the first mass-market VR headsets hit the market. However, one cannot yet speak of a breakthrough for virtual reality. There is a lack of top titles that attract a broad audience, prompting potential buyers to say: “I need this thing right now”.
Perhaps FIFA 18 will surprise us with VR support. It would certainly be appealing to run around the pitch from a first-person perspective and feel like a real football professional. However, it is likely to take several more years before this can be implemented in the way many players would wish.
But who knows, maybe there will already be certain modes or skill games that can be played in VR in FIFA 18.
More leagues, more women’s football, more of everything!
Our last modest wish for FIFA 18: More of everything!
The FIFA series is characterized by having tons of real teams, real leagues, and real stadiums. And there can never be enough of that. We would love to see:
more leagues (especially third league!)
more stadiums (preferably more from the Bundesliga)
more women’s national teams (or leagues)
more and more diverse commentator phrases
more celebration options
more fan chants and a better atmosphere
and more diversity and realism in the fans / the audience.

The gaming market in China has developed differently than in Europe and North America: consoles like PS4 and Xbox One play no role there. The PC is the dominant platform – mobile gaming is skyrocketing. Especially multiplayer online games with a free-to-play model are in demand in Asia. There is a lot of money to be made there.
Many games are being developed in China, one of which we want to take a closer look at today. It draws comparisons to Destiny, albeit in the “3rd-person alternative.”
To be fair, it must be said: The game has been compared to all sorts of things, including games like Firefall – which no one talks about anymore.
Rising Fire – Gameplay and Trailer
The Asia-focused gaming site 2p now reports on Rising Fire. YinPei Games is developing this SF-MMO shooter. This is the Chinese studio of Epic Games, the creators of the Unreal Engine. Consequently, Rising Fire also runs on the Unreal Engine.
Tencent serves as the publisher. Rising Fire was first presented in May 2016. It has now entered closed beta in China.

Rising Fire takes place in the future. Humanity fights against an alien invasion, the aliens are called Shaia.

In Destiny 2 we show you 10 weapons that you might have overlooked in the gameplay stream. Many of them are likely exotic.
About a week ago, on May 18th, the gameplay premiere for Destiny 2 took place. For the first time, there was in-game footage: including the first story mission, the new focuses, the new worlds – and plenty of new weapons from Destiny 2!
In the meantime, the Guardians had enough time to analyze every single frame of the shown gameplay. Exciting weapons came to light that some of you probably missed. We present some of them.
Note: During the gameplay event, three exotic weapons could be played: Sunshot, Sweet Business, and Riskrunner. These are presented in the provided link. They are not in this list.
An exotic handgun with rats
Let’s start with an exotic handgun (or possibly a pistol) that was seen during the stream when the developers talked about Exotics. So you can be sure: This thing is exotic!
At the gameplay event, this weapon was also exhibited in a showcase, which is why there are pictures where the design of the weapon can be seen more clearly:
Obviously, rats are digging a tunnel through the barrel. Definitely a cool design!
A very thick sniper
In extremely short gameplay scenes, this sniper was on screen. Here, a Cabal enemy is being aimed at, and what is interesting is: once this enemy is targeted, he gets “highlighted”, receiving a red outline.
In the following reload animation, the exterior of the sniper is visible for fractions of a second. It has strange, glowing lines or coils spread throughout the weapon.
The performance of Reinhardt no longer meets what players expect from their Overwatch tank. Was there an accidental nerf?
It is possible that the Overwatch character “Reinhardt” has been hit by a secret nerf. Players have noticed since the start of the anniversary event that the popular tank has received changes to his hammer that were not mentioned in the patch notes. Fans say it now takes twice as long for a hit with the hammer to be “registered” in the game.
Initially, the user Kekstarter wrote in the Overwatch forums that he noticed something odd about the swing speed of Reinhardt’s hammer. It seems that the hammer now distributes damage more at the end of the swing – previously, the damage would have been dealt in the middle of the swing. Due to this change, it is no longer possible to deal quick damage through animation canceling.
Due to the reports, many Reinhardt mains tested the character and his abilities. Players feel that all of his abilities are now slower. A possible reason for the issues currently being discussed are the netcode changes. These changes were introduced with the anniversary patch and affect how the game recognizes activated abilities.
The user Palnatoke writes in the Overwatch forums that while looking for answers, he visited several Discord servers. He found out that the Overwatch servers now apparently send a “confirmation” to players who have activated an ability. Only then is the ability actually activated. There is a short delay when you use an ability.
This is particularly noticeable for players with poor internet connection and high ping. This is because it takes longer for the server’s confirmation to go through. Accordingly, the ability is activated more slowly than for players with better internet connection and lower ping. The changes regarding ping (indicated in ms) are clearly shown in the following video:

Reinhardt mains are not happy with these changes because they could jeopardize his place in the meta. Due to the slower abilities, Reinhardt has a lower DPS value and takes a bit longer to respond to situations in the game.
After four days of complaints on this topic, there was now a response from lead software engineer Bill Warneck in the forum. He says that Blizzard didn’t actually intend to change Reinhardt’s hammer and that the support team will take a closer look at the issue.
If there really have been accidental changes to Reinhardt’s abilities, we can probably expect a hotfix soon that addresses these issues.
In Paladins Patch OB 51, the new champion Ash joins the MOBA shooter. Ash is a tank lady who smashes everything in her way. The Colossal Chest is being removed from the game, and new chests are coming. We have the patch highlights for you.
Paladins continues its goal and brings new champions to the MOBA shooter at a fast pace. With the new Patch OB 51, we are welcoming another lady to the front alongside Inara. Ash is the new tank and bears the title “War Machine”.
More and more special skins are making their way to Paladins: This time, Pip and Barrik are getting a new look. For the first time, there will be a skin for your horse that you can purchase directly. Previously, this was only possible through special chests or events. In OB 51, the Colossal Chest is being removed and replaced by two new chests: the Weapon Chest and the Champion Skin Chest.
There are also a few adjustments to the interface and some champions have also been reworked.
Ash is the new tank in Paladins. She is a proud knight who takes what she wants.
Paladins OB51: New Champion Ash Enters the Arena – Throws All Enemies Out
Ash is Paladins’ new tank and she is called the War Machine. She is a knight who smashes everything in her way with her flak cannon. With the flak cannon, Ash fires spiky spheres that explode at mid-range and deal area damage. She can trigger a kinetic explosion with the spheres that knocks enemies back.
Ash is ready to show full body commitment. If necessary, the knight charges forward at her enemies and rams them back with her shoulder. Upon impact, Ash deals heavy direct damage. When Ash plants her flag in the ground, she uses her ultimate skill “Show Dominance”. Around the flag, Ash creates a zone in which she cannot take damage. Enemies take damage when the flag strikes the ground.

There are new cosmetic items for Pip and Barrik that you can unlock in the shop. There is also a new skin for your horse.
Pandamonium Pip
Pip is changing his fur and gets a cute curly tail. The skin is available for direct purchase for 200 crystals in the shop. The skin includes head and body.

Rewards for Champion Mastery Levels
Players will now receive rewards for reaching mastery levels. You receive the rewards upon reaching a certain level, and they consist of skins, sprays, gold, chests, and emotes. In Paladins, players can earn mastery levels for champions if they perform well with the character.
From Patch OB 51 onwards, rewards are available for the following champions:

Rewards for the remaining champions will be added gradually.
The Colossal Chest previously gave players particularly valuable cosmetic items. In Paladins, you can wildly combine skin parts and give your character a unique look. From the Colossal Chest, you could draw individual skin parts. Therefore, it could take ages for players to receive a complete skin set. This will change in OB 51.
The Colossal Chest is being removed from the game. In its place, the Champion Skin Chests and Weapon Chest are coming. In the Champion Skin Chest, you now receive complete skin sets. The Weapon Chest exclusively contains weapon skins.

Further Adjustments in OB51
Some champions received adjustments, nerfs, and buffs. For example, the last champion, the fairy Willo, received a buff and is now somewhat tougher.
A few bugs were fixed, including an annoying audio bug.
The interface has been optimized, and “Auto-Buy” can now be turned off directly in the item shop during a match.
Patch OB 51 will initially come to PC. When exactly it will arrive on PS4 and Xbox One is not yet known. The full patch notes can be found in our sources.
We played the Morrowind expansion of The Elder Scrolls Online (TESO) In the test for ESO Morrowind, we find: The expansion wants to be played in a very specific way. MMORPG fans might find this difficult.
Morrowind, the new expansion for The Elder Scrolls Online, cannot be compared to expansions of MMORPGs that one usually knows. Because it lacks new features.

Such features in expansions are important because they modernize MMORPGs. They develop the MMORPGs, adapting them to the changing times.
Something comparable is not brought by Morrowind and that is a problem. The Elder Scrolls Online has hardly developed gameplay-wise in the last three years.
Morrowind does not change the game principle
Morrowind brings a new class, the Warden, and structured PvP to The Elder Scrolls Online. But otherwise, the expansion feels like a story DLC. And this is where the focus of The Elder Scrolls Online lies now: ESO has increasingly become a solo RPG in the main part – where the MMO parts can be played supplementarily, detached in an endgame.
The normal gameplay experience does not change with Morrowind. That is not the ambition that the expansion has. The focus is clearly on the new area and the story in Vvardenfell.
I have no nostalgia bonus for Morrowind
Morrowind is a fan service that aims to bring the RPG world of TES III, Vvardenfell, from 2002 back to life for a new generation. Morrowind will probably succeed at that.
The evaluation of Morrowind depends on how much players wanted to return to this world. I know that some ESO fans and also game testers are very eager for such a “Morrowind” remake to travel back 15 years into the past.

I never really played the first Morrowind. Therefore, I would have wished for something different for the expansion to The Elder Scrolls Online: a refresh of the gameplay.
Mechanically ESO feels outdated
Morrowind wants to be seen as a “new game” in many ways – it is not necessary to know the old The Elder Scrolls to get started. But as a new game, The Elder Scrolls Online shows its age.
Mechanically, ESO has received few new features over the years, although a lot has happened, and the game has been overhauled.
Much has been tinkered with existing game systems:
a justice system came halfway
many things now scale in the world
much content from the single-player games has been added: such as the Thieves Guild or the Dark Brotherhood
a different progress system after level 50 has come: the Champion system replaced the Veteran system.
But Zenimax has left the gameplay quite unchanged since the release, although gameplay really needed some love.
Because such modernizations are absent, ESO feels “old” – it feels like an MMORPG from 2014. There was much good in ESO back then and it showed potential. But it’s no longer 2014, and the potential remains untapped in many areas, particularly in three crucial points:
How do I fight?
How do I move through the world?
What else is there outside of quests? How do I interact with objects in the MMORPG?
In the meantime, games like Black Desert have emerged, which have their strengths exactly in these three areas. In Black Desert, one climbs buildings, the combat is fluid and dynamic, and there is much to do and experience in the world outside of quests and combat – The Elder Scrolls Online is lacking in these aspects.
Skyrimization brings technical disadvantages
This is the downside of the Skyrimization that has brought ESO so much success in recent years: ESO is at the technical level of Skyrim in these core gameplay aspects – and Skyrim is 6 years old.
ESO has similar approaches to a modern MMORPG. They pursue the same goals as Black Desert:
ESO also wants to bring a dynamic combat system
it wants to make the world experiential and explorative
it wants to let the player craft and tinker. After all, they should be able to care for their horse.
But ESO feels outdated compared to Black Desert.
The combat system is neither fish nor fowl. It feels mushy, the force behind the abilities is lacking. One spams buttons instead of chaining combos together. Of course, there are the now customary telegraphs and red zones to avoid, but the combat system does not feel top-notch.
Where I can climb onto a roof in Black Desert, ESO plays like an RPG from the last decade. I am dependent on following the paths – otherwise, I get stuck. I cannot jump from the water onto a pier and pull myself up the wood – but I have to find the designated entry point.
In 2014, The Elder Scrolls Online’s crafting system was interesting. There were learnable traits and styles – just by that it was more complex and exciting than, for example, crafting in WoW. But since the release, crafting in The Elder Scrolls Online has not changed decisively and now feels outdated compared to newer games.
But The Elder Scrolls Online Morrowind has other strengths.

The focus of Morrowind is on the world and the quests. Morrowind is modeled after the classic “The Elder Scrolls III”, resurrecting the world of yore but playing much earlier.

Ubisoft has announced Far Cry 5 for February 2018 and already offers you the chance to pre-order the game. With the Standard version, you unlock the base game. The Gold edition also provides a Season Pass that unlocks future content .

The story of the new Far Cry title has already been presented by Ubisoft in teaser videos. You fight against a deadly cult and can carry out this fight alone or in two-player co-op. You bring havoc to the cult and its followers, but you have to watch out for the revenge.
With muscle cars, off-road vehicles, airplanes, and many other toys, you can move across the map of Far Cry 5.
For pre-orders, there is the Doomsday Prepper Pack, which consists of a vehicle skin, a prepper outfit (jacket and cap), and a Doomsday 1911 pistol. It also includes an additional Chaos Pack, which is stocked with Molotov cocktails, animal bait, and “Fast- and Furious” upgrades.

To buy all the skins and emotes from the Anniversary Event in Overwatch, you need over 50,000 Credits. Players are complaining, Blizzard is listening.
The Anniversary Event started a few days ago and invites the community to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the shooter. The event features special skins and emotes that can appear in loot boxes. Those who have no luck with the boxes can also purchase the content with credits. However, for the 108 items, you will need 56,475 Credits.
The prices are a cause for complaint, as they have increased significantly compared to other events. Jeff Kaplan, the Game Director of Overwatch, explains that Blizzard is closely monitoring these complaints.
The skins already cost 33,000 Credits
In a Reddit thread, user Desks_up created a table listing the prices of a total of 108 items. His result is that players must spend 56,475 Credits for all items.
11 Legendary Skins: 33,000 Credits (About 58.2% of the total cost)
24 Dance Emotes: 18,000 Credits (About 31.9% of the total cost)
48 Voice Lines: 3,600 Credits (About 6.4% of the total cost)
25 Spray Logos: 1,875 Credits (About 3.3% of the total cost)
The eleven legendary skins contribute significantly to the high total cost of the Anniversary items. A few cheaper skins might be a welcome alternative for the community.
Of course, no player is forced to buy these items. However, fans enjoy purchasing cosmetic items for their favorite heroes, and the total cost has now risen compared to other events.

Year of the Rooster: 37,050 Credits for 99 items
Winter Wonderland: 33,075 Credits for 94 items
Halloween Terror: 31,500 Credits for 94 items
In the Battle.net forums and other social networks, players are complaining about the increased total costs. Game director Jeff Kaplan responded to the complaints in the forum and assured that Blizzard is closely examining the feedback.
The threads about the loot box rewards of the Anniversary Event, other events, and loot boxes in general are being monitored by the team. “The feedback and suggestions have helped us a lot,” writes Kaplan. “We had extensive discussions about the feedback we received this week. While I can’t announce any direct changes, I thought it was important for you to know that we are listening.”
This unfortunately is no promise that the prices will look different in the future. But it sounds like Blizzard is on the side of the community on this issue.
