In FIFA 18 FUT, national heroes are now available. See here the 5 top form heroes who have received special hero cards in Ultimate Team.
The “Ultimate Team” mode in FIFA 18 is getting more colorful: EA Sports released on October 11 5 purple hero cards that you can now pull in packs or buy on the transfer market.
These hero cards were released simultaneously with the TOTW 4 in FUT 18.
Last week there was a break in league operations, allowing national teams to play qualifying matches for the upcoming World Cup. Some players who stood out with strong performances are represented in this week’s Team of the Week. But 5 players who particularly shined this week will now be rewarded with national hero cards.
Like Lionel Messi, who is being referred to as the “Savior” in the media these days, as he scored three goals against Ecuador to lead Argentina to the World Cup in Russia, thus averting a historic debacle.
The hero cards are special cards with upgraded attributes. You can pull them for one week, until October 18, in the sets. After that, they can only be purchased via the transfer market.
These are the cards: RM – Salah – Liverpool – 83 -> 85 ZOM – Sigurðsson – Everton – 82 -> 84 IV – Waston – Vancouver Whitecaps FC – 74 -> 80 RF – Messi – FC Barcelona – 93 -> 94 IV – Torres – Seattle Sounders FC – 71 -> 78
EA Sports also announces that these hero cards will affect the OTW cards. Thus, Salah and Sigurðsson will now receive better OTW cards. Every player holding such a card can rejoice.
For those who don’t know: OTW cards are the “Ones to Watch” cards. These could be pulled from the sets in the past few days. The special thing about them is: they are automatically upgraded if the respective player receives a special card – like a TOTW card or a hero card.
The battle royale game H1Z1: King of the Kill aims to make a name in eSports by founding the H1Z1 Pro League. There, players are set to receive a minimum wage of $50,000 without additional fees.
H1Z1: King of the Kill has already achieved initial successes in eSports. Along with Twin Galaxies, a tournament was held where there was a total prize pool of $300,000 and $180,000 for the winning team alone.
The initiative seemed to be a success, as the developers at Daybreak now want to – again in collaboration with Twin Galaxies – establish their own pro league for H1Z1: King of the Kill.
H1Z1 Pro League – High prizes without fees?
In the upcoming H1Z1: King of the Kill Pro League, the following parameters will apply:
A total of 15 teams of 5 players each are allowed to participate
Each player will receive at least $50,000 as minimum salary for the duration of the tournament
There will also be a detailed “Player Bill of Rights” for the players
There will be shares of the tournament revenue for the players
Matches in the tournament will consist of 75 players each and will take place over two periods of 10 weeks
According to Daybreak, there will be no fees or entry costs for the players
Participation in the H1Z1 Pro League will be handled through an unspecified participation process. However, there should be no fees for participation. This puts the H1Z1 league in contrast to Blizzard’s Overwatch professional league, where players receive $50,000 salary, but allegedly demand a $20,000 franchise fee.
The H1Z1 Pro League starts in spring 2018 and ends towards the end of the year. At the Twitch Con on October 20 in California, there will be private information meetings for interested players.
This went horribly wrong: The developers of the MMORPG The Lord of the Rings Online released a new update, which was immediately reverted. But why?
The new Update 21 introduced, among other things, new equipment that was apparently offered too cheaply. Of course, players jumped at it, hoping to snag a bargain. But no such luck. The developers immediately reverted Update 21 when they noticed the mistake and removed the already purchased items from the players’ inventories.
Players left empty-handed
As compensation, there was: nothing.
However, many players had sold old items or dismantled them to quickly acquire the new equipment. There was no compensation for this either. The items are simply gone – tough luck. To make matters worse, the new prices for the newly introduced items have now been announced. They are four times higher than before!
More grinding instead of less
This brings an additional problem: While the developers previously stated that they wanted to minimize grinding so that it would not take as long to acquire new items, the high prices have now made grinding even worse.
It now takes significantly longer to gather the money for the equipment. Accordingly, players are expressing their displeasure in the official forum of the MMORPG. They feel cheated.
The problems were known in advance
Additionally, the community is frustrated that those who were able to test the update in advance had already alerted the developers to the problems – but nothing happened. And now exactly what the testers feared has come true. With the current update to the MMORPG LotRO, quite a few things have gone wrong…
These are the 5 best Iron Banner weapons that you can earn in Destiny 2. Grab them!
On October 10, the first Iron Banner started in Destiny 2. The event overseer Lord Saladin arrived in the new Tower, took his position, and now welcomes Guardians to send them into the Iron Banner, where they can earn new tokens.
These Iron Banner tokens will then be brought back to Lord Saladin, who will give out a reputation package for about 20 of them. This reputation package can contain, among other things, special Iron Banner weapons.
Meanwhile, numerous “experts” have reviewed these special weapons and shared their opinions. We are now looking at a top 5 list of Iron Banner weapons in PvP, enriched with insights from Mercules904, who is considered a weapons expert in Destiny and is known for his competent and detailed “massive weapon breakdowns” in the community.
Rank 5 – The Last of the Hero – Submachine Gun
Let’s start with the rapid-fire Iron Banner SMG that secured 5th place. It is called “The Last of the Hero” and was forged in honor of Saladin. It is carried in the energy slot and deals Void damage.
The advantages of “The Last of the Hero” lie in its high range, very high reload speed, solid stability, and good handling. A downside is its small magazine size. The aim assist is average at 51.
Here are the stats:
Rate of Fire: 900
Impact: 20 (13 crit, 12 body)
Range: 50
Stability: 46
Reload Speed: 58
Handling: 63
Magazine Size: 33
Note: The impact specifies how much damage the weapon deals in PvP with critical hits (crit) and body shots.
The Last of the Hero has consistently solid stats. It hardly matters whether you land critical hits or body shots:
The optimal Time-to-Kill (i.e., the time it takes to eliminate an opposing Guardian under optimal conditions in PvP) is one second.
The Time-to-Kill with only body shots is 1.07 seconds.
These are the weapon perks:
Adaptive Frame: Rounded grip, reliable and robust
Danger Recognized, Danger Banned: Improves reload speed, stability, and handling when enemies are nearby
The sights selection:
SLO-10 Post: Short zoom, increased weapon readiness speed, increased range
SPO-28 Front: Medium zoom, increased range, increased weapon readiness speed
SPO-26 Front: Red dot sight, short zoom, increased weapon readiness speed, increased range
Choice between:
High-Caliber Rounds: Enemies are pushed back, increased range
Drop Mag: Magazine is ejected when reloading, potentially wasting ammunition. Greatly increased reload speed
High-Caliber Rounds is a popular perk that generally becomes more effective the higher the weapon’s rate of fire is. And no weapons in the game fire faster than 900 rate of fire SMGs.
In short: The Last of the Hero is among the strongest PvP weapons at close range. If you want to run through the Crucible with an SMG, this is a solid choice.
In War Thunder, the French planes were missing until now. But soon almost 30 new aircraft from the Grande Nation will come to the game!
In War Thunder, you can already find masses of aircraft from the times of both World Wars and the Cold War. Among them are all sorts of nations, including England, the German Reich, the Soviet Union, the USA, the Japanese Empire, and Italy. The French were missing so far and were not allowed to participate.
But soon a new update will come that introduces nearly 50 new aircraft, including almost 30 planes from France.
Update 1.73 brings France’s Air Force into the game
The aircraft of France are less known compared to such flying legends as the German Messerschmitt, the English Spitfire, or the Japanese Zero. One reason for this is that France was overrun by the Germans early in World War II, which limited their ability to build and develop aircraft during that time.
Nevertheless, there were aircraft from France before and after the war. Even during the war, some were still developed and built. Among the selection from France are the following machines:
Dewoitine D.371: A monoplane from the pre-war period that was used in the Spanish Civil War and fought on the side of the Republic against the fascists.
SNCASO SO.8000 Narval: An unusual fighter with a ducted fan at the tail. The aircraft is, like many French planes, versatile, for example as an interceptor, bomber, or reconnaissance.
These two aircraft and many more will be available with Update 1.73. In the coming week, there will be more information on the blog of developer Gaijin Entertainment.
The cult director John Carpenter is into Destiny 2. This keeps him out of trouble, says the 69-year-old.
John Carpenter is a star director who achieved great commercial success in the 70s and 80s. His films are set in the genres of action, horror, and science fiction.
He is responsible for hits like Halloween (1978), The Fog (1980), Escape from New York (1981), The Thing (1982), Big Trouble in Little China (1986), or They Live (1988).
In an interview with the British Guardian, John Carpenter revealed what occupies him today.
Hello, John. What are you doing today?
I’m playing the video game Destiny 2. It’s a science fiction game. It’s fun.
I’ve heard about it. It’s really hard and you shoot at aliens, right?
Yes, it’s hard. That’s why I’ve dedicated my life to learning how to play Destiny 2. At my age – why not? After all, it keeps me out of trouble!
Carpenter has gained a lot of merit in the horror and science fiction genres. Films like “The Thing” could indirectly have influenced Destiny as well. The idea that Carpenter spends his days hunting aliens in Destiny 2 is something!
Stars are into Destiny 2
In the past, some celebrities have expressed their passion for Destiny 2:
You never know who’s on the other end of the internet line!
If you think: Destiny 2 is really hard, then we recommend our guide collection for Destiny 2. If you have dedicated your life to the fight against aliens, this could help you advance.
The BlizzCon attracts with cool rewards in all Blizzard games. We show you what awaits the players.
In just 3 weeks, the sacred weekend is called again for Blizzard fans, as BlizzCon 2017 takes place on November 3rd and 4th, 2017. Those who do not want to make the long journey to America can comfortably watch the BlizzCon from home – this year even with German subtitles for the most important events.
For this, one must choose to purchase a Virtual Ticket, which, for just €30, grants access to all streams of the two-day BlizzCon.
But the Virtual Ticket has many other perks. As every year, there are a number of in-game rewards when players choose to purchase a ticket. We show you all the rewards that are known so far.
In World of Warcraft, there are two mounts – one for the Horde and one for the Alliance. The Skyhunter of Stormwind and the Interceptor of Orgrimmar each have space for 2 players and look quite impressive.
For Overwatch, there is a exclusive skin for Winston. In blue, black, and metal colors, along with the BlizzCon logo, the skin goes straight into the hero gallery.
In StarCraft II, there are three special skins for the building units of all species. The “Step Collector Skins” for SCVs, Probes, and Drones will strike fear into every opponent – in case you want to attack with building units.
For Heroes of the Storm, there are 4 cosmetic rewards. The mount Nexus Bladeback, a matching display image and spray logo, and finally a BlizzCon banner.
No BlizzCon without Murlocs. In Diablo III, the Dead Murloc, a Murloc necromancer who can summon an army of undead fish, is waiting. Not helpful, but somehow cute!
The reward for Hearthstone has not yet been revealed. However, the preview image reveals that it will be a golden legendary card. This is likely to be presented at BlizzCon.
What do you think of these rewards? Are you buying the ticket just for these goodies? Or is it still not worth it because you could read the news from BlizzCon on your favorite site anyway?

Once again, it has been proven that demon hunters in WoW have the upper hand. Now even raid boss Gul’dan has been soloed.
Time and again, we report on some players from World of Warcraft who keep breaking one record after another. One such player is Mione, who occasionally shines by tackling especially difficult fights in World of Warcraft. He kills the toughest raid bosses and masters the hardest dungeons. Anyone can do that, right? Maybe. But only Mione does it completely alone!
After he has already proven in the past that a dungeon on Mythic +17 is no problem for him and that even the raid boss Helya could only elicit a tired smile from his demon hunter, he is now attempting the next tough challenge.
The final boss of the Night Fortress, Gul’dan in normal mode! The whole attempt takes just under 20 minutes and yet succeeds. While other players sometimes still fail with a group of 10, Mione handles the entire fight solo.
You can watch the full video of the kill here:

The most difficult part, according to Mione, is phase 3, when Gul’dan’s eyes can appear with a rage. The eyes have the potential to overwhelm any group if they are not quickly eliminated. Because after a few seconds, they double, which quickly leads to an overwhelming number of eyes that target individual players.
Mione now has a item level of 943 and the artifact weapon at level 69 – that is close to the best gear currently available.
What was the hardest boss you defeated solo in World of Warcraft? Or was more than one kill of Hogger never in the cards?
The release of Fortnite: Battle Royale just happened 2 weeks ago. In this short time, a total of 10 million players have plunged into the free survival shooter.
Perhaps this PR stunt contributed to the 10 million players. It could also be that Fortnite: Battle Royale is free and already available on PS4 and Xbox One.
From the graphic, it is not clear how the players are distributed across the three platforms PC, PS4, and Xbox.
Players have now noticed something curious: At least in the English version, a very amusing Easter egg from Blizzard’s Overwatch has slipped into the Iron Banner.
Only the best Guardians will be rewarded with the Easter egg
The Easter egg was found by a Guardian who had an amazing round. After his 20th kill in a row without dying, the medal “We are running out of medals” popped up, and Lord Saladin spoke these words to him:
“Die! Die! Die-*cough* Sorry I’ve been watching too many Iron Banner matches. What time is it? Shaxx? Shaxx, are you there? Can you get me a water? Stop yelling, it’s just a question. I’m not old!”
This line translated means:
“Die! Die! Die! *cough* Sorry, I’ve just watched too many Iron Banner matches. What time is it? Shaxx? Shaxx, are you there? Can you get me something to drink? Don’t yell at me, I’m just asking. No, I’m not old!”
Anyone who plays Overwatch in English will find the exclamation “Die! Die! Die!” particularly familiar. The bad guy Reaper says these three words when he activates his ultimate.
Fortunately, the Guardian captured this scene – for mortals, this challenge will likely be hard to replicate. Furthermore, chance plays a role. Even if you achieve this challenge several times, this line of text does not necessarily have to follow.
If you want to see and hear the scene again, you can do so in the following video from about 0:15.

And there is one more similarity. The English voice of Lord Saladin is the same as that of Reaper in Overwatch, namely Keith Ferguson.
Embedding Easter eggs in games has a long tradition. Since Destiny 2 and Overwatch will run on the same launcher (battle.net) on PC and there is a strategic partnership between Bungie and Blizzard, such references are likely.
You cannot kill what has no life. A player in Overwatch has now reached an account level of 4000.
Some games can keep their fans engaged longer than the developers originally thought. This is especially true for Overwatch, as there are always players who prove how much they truly love the hero shooter. It can no longer be considered a “small hobby” on the side.
An extreme example is the player Treeboydave, who surely must have set a new record in the Overwatch community. He has managed to reach an account level of 4,000.
On Reddit, users took the trouble to calculate this back. Overwatch was released nearly 500 days ago. This means that Treeboydave must have leveled up an average of 8 levels per day. And this, in turn, means that he had to invest around 9-10 hours per day into the game to keep up with this rate. That corresponds to a pure gameplay time of nearly 5 months!
Each level up in Overwatch is rewarded with a loot box. Since Treeboydave has received more than 4,000 of them, he probably owns every item in the game. Later, he posted a screenshot showing his current credit balance, which is 162,000 Credits. If a new skin comes out that he likes, he certainly won’t be lacking in funds.
In TERA, there are some events in October that will reward you with special rewards in the battle against BAMs and dungeon bosses. The game is also celebrating Halloween.
Patch 61 has recently been released for TERA, which, in addition to numerous changes to the classes and game balance, brought three new servers. One of them, the German server “Saleron”, is especially suitable for local players for a new start or return to the colorful action MMO.
To make playing on the new server even more worthwhile, there are special events. Additionally, the old TERA realms will also have special events.
BAM Spawn Event and Extra Loot for New Servers
Players on the new realms can take down particularly many BAMs from October 10 to October 24, 2017. BAM stands for “Big Ass Monster” in TERA, referring to special boss monsters that roam the open world. They can be taken down alone with good gear and skill, but groups will have an easier time.
During the event, special BAMs will spawn in places where they usually do not occur. If you hit them 2,000 times, they will go down, and you can loot their items.
Speed Leveling and Dungeon Runs Will Be Rewarded
From October 10 to November 7, 2017, there will also be special rewards for reaching certain level milestones (10, 20, etc. up to level 65) on the new realms. So it is worthwhile to level up progressively.
If you reach the maximum level and rock selected dungeons from October 10 to October 24, 2017, you will also receive more loot for your efforts.
Harder Dungeons and Challenges for Old Servers
Those who stay and play on the existing realms of TERA can try their hand at special challenges with their highly-trained heroes. Certain dungeons will have a debuff that noticeably weakens you from October 19 to October 24, 2017, upon request. If you still defeat the final boss, there will be additional loot.
From October 10 to November 7, 2017, you can also rush through certain dungeons on the old servers that will then also be worth more loot.
Halloween and Star Light Event for All Servers
Regardless of your server, the “Star Light” event still takes place on the weekends. The longer you play there, the more special loot you will receive. Specifically in October, TERA celebrates Halloween again:
From October 17, you will find additional loot in the dungeon
The celebration officially begins on October 24, with decorations and an event dungeon
The Thargoids are currently a major threat to all players in the space game Elite: Dangerous, but it seems there are ways to appease the aliens. One player gave them valuable metal alloys and wasn’t destroyed as a result.
For some time now, players of Elite: Dangerous have been excited, as the aliens of the Thargoid race have arrived. These foreign beings have destroyed countless ships so far, and even when humans develop weapons against them, the mysterious beings quickly adapt and are still hardly defeat-able.
It may not even be necessary to find a military solution to the conflict, as one player appears to have peacefully negotiated with the aliens.
Do the Thargoids only want resources?
A player was traveling with his research ship and had valuable metal alloys on board. When suddenly a massive Thargoid ship appeared, it seemed that his last hour had come. The gigantic “Interceptors,” reminiscent of flowers, are known to annihilate entire fleets.
As the alien ship deploys its weapons, the player quickly throws a few containers of the metal overboard. Curiously, the alien leaves him alone and instead goes for the cargo. It remains on high alert but makes no attempts to attack the player.
Dispute and food envy among the Thargoids?
This is already curious enough, but then it gets even crazier. Shortly after the “feeding” of the first ship, another alien ship suddenly appears. The newcomer neutralizes the systems of the player’s ship, and the rest of the scene can only be perceived through the external cameras.

The new Thargoid ship seems to somehow interact with the first one. Then both ships fly in a circle and disappear. This scene is interpreted by players in different ways:
The new ship “scolds” the first ship for having accepted cargo from an unknown source without permission. After all, the cargo could be contaminated or otherwise dangerous.
The new ship also wanted a piece of the loot and to see if there was something to be had.
In any case, the scene shows that the Thargoids seem to have a complex social structure and – even more importantly – that they apparently are not just out for death and destruction. So it seems possible to interact with them peacefully. But what do they really want?
Soon players will be able to equip a third, legendary item in WoW. You can find out more about it here.
In the Legion expansion of World of Warcraft there are some restrictions regarding equipment usage. The biggest restriction is probably the limitation of a maximum of 2 legendary items that our character can equip at the same time. In the past, there has been wild discussion and speculation about whether this limitation will be lifted at some point.
Antorus trinkets do not count towards the legendary cap
The various trinkets have now been upgraded to legendary quality, starting at an item level of “only” 940, and they do not count towards the maximum limit for legendary items!
If you wish, you can upgrade the Antorus trinkets up to item level 1000. However, it is necessary to repeatedly defeat the final boss Argus. Because on normal and higher difficulty, he drops the item Blessing of the Pantheon, which allows the item level to increase by 5 points each time. This means at least 3 months of kills from the final boss Argus for the trinket to reach its maximum effect.
This allows a character to effectively wear 3 legendary items, as the Antorus trinkets do not count towards the current maximum of 2 legendary items.
However, each player can only wear one Antorus trinket at a time – an increase to 4 legendary items using the trinkets is therefore not possible.
What do you think about this slight softening of the 2-item rule for legendaries? Cool thing, or should one be allowed to freely choose from all legendaries?
In Destiny 2, Update 1.07 is live. The patch notes are clear.
Since October 11th at around 5:15 PM, Update 1.07 is live on PS4 and Xbox One. The official update designation from Bungie is 1.0.3.2, however, the version numbers on the consoles differ from that.
The Update 1.07 is approximately 50 MB in size. You may need to start the download manually. To do this, select the game and press “Check for Update”.
Meanwhile, Bungie has released the patch notes for this hotfix. These only include one change:
A problem has been fixed that could lead to crashes when flying into the Tower. You should now arrive safely in the Tower when you load this social space.
What about the Prestige Raid? What about the exploit?
No further changes are mentioned. There may have been “secret” adjustments that are not listed in the patch notes. The near future will show.
However, it currently seems that: The exploit in the Leviathan raid has not yet been fixed.
This annoyance is likely the reason why the Prestige Raid has been postponed. This “ultimate PvE challenge”, as it is referred to by Bungie, was actually supposed to be available since October 10th. However, the Prestige Raid has been postponed to October 18th.
Therefore, it is expected that there will be another update and possibly also further maintenance before October 18th to remove this exploit from the game. Bungie wants to crown a “World First” run for the Prestige Raid again, and with the exploit, a fair race is not possible.
The near future will show how Bungie will respond in this regard.
Until then, you can check out all the loot that will be available in the Prestige Raid here:
In this video, six Xatu battle a Machamp raid boss in Pokémon GO. Do the birds stand a chance against the muscle pack?
The raid battles are the cooperative gameplay part in Pokémon GO. In the raids, various opponents await, categorized into easy to hard difficulty levels. Level 1 easy raids can sometimes be completed alone. For tougher raids, several trainers with strong Pokémon as attackers are recommended.
A player has now attempted a battle against a level 3 raid alone. And as an attacker, he chose Xatu. A species that is not commonly known to trainers as a “super strong fighting machine”.
Xatu vs Machamp – Is this going to work?
A few weeks ago, a calculation appeared on Reddit explaining: So theoretically, it would be possible to complete a Machamp raid alone by using only Xatu as an attacker.
In the calculation, the user EdithKeelerMustDie explained that Xatu should ideally have a moveset of Air Slash and Future Sight. Additionally, the Machamp raid boss should have a moveset of Counter and Close Combat for the battle to go well for the Xatu within the time limit. The thread creator also showed an overview of levels and IVs for Xatu that can lead to victory:
Source: EdithKeelerMustDie
If Machamp has a moveset of Counter and Close Combat, that would also be okay. However, according to Reddit, 6 instead of 4 Xatu as attackers are needed for that.
Source: PokéWiki
As a fighting Pokémon, Machamp is vulnerable to flying, psychic, and fairy-type attacks. Some of the strongest attackers include Alakazam or Espeon. Also, Exeggutor with psychic attacks makes for strong attackers.
Xatu is somewhat unusual as an attacker. While it also has flying and psychic attacks, stronger monsters are usually seen as attackers in gyms.
The thread on Reddit was actually meant more as a fun fact. With the motto “Did you know? In theory, this is even possible”. However, some trainers saw it not as a fun fact, but as a challenge.
The player DrAwesomeBlox took on this challenge and invested stardust that he had collected at the last Pokémon event. In total, he powered up his Xatu with 650,000 stardust to turn them into flying beasts full of energy. When he felt confident with his bird team, he started the battle against a Machamp. If you only want to see the end, skip to about 9 minutes in the video.

Today, maintenance work is taking place in Destiny 2 . Update 1.0.3.2 / 1.07 is coming.
Update 5:15 PM: The update is now available. It has version number 1.07 and is around 50 MB in size. You may need to start it manually. Select the game and press “Check for Update”. The patch notes for update 1.07 are now available!
Bungie continues to work on Destiny 2: This is now the fifth week in a row that Bungie has conducted maintenance once a week. However, today’s maintenance is an exception: the servers will remain online. There should be no downtime. You still need to download an update.
Here are the important times:
On October 11, maintenance will start at 5 PM.
At 5:15 PM, the update 1.0.3.2 is expected to be available. You will need to download and install it.
Maintenance should be completed by 11 PM.
Keep in mind: Although the servers remain online, there may be an increase in server issues during this time. Longer loading times or “Destiny servers being contacted” messages may occur. Destiny’s past has shown that it adversely affects the player experience when Bungie is working on the servers at the same time.
What does the update 1.0.3.2 / update 1.07 bring?
Bungie will release the patch notes for update 1.0.3.2 only after the update is released. We will report on it directly. Update: Here they are!
Since this update has a four-digit version number, it is unlikely to bring new game content. Instead, it should serve as a hotfix to resolve some issues.
Otherwise, the list of known issues is long. Maybe one of these annoyances will also be eliminated. Such as the unintended loss of raid keys, a black screen when flying to the tower, or the problem that sometimes Cayde’s treasure map hiding spots contain no loot.
While you download the patch or wait for the patch, here is some interesting reading material:
Ranked matches in Overwatch often mean a certain amount of pressure. This is of course even more significant in major tournaments. How to stay calm despite this is revealed by the pros.
The first season of Overwatch Contenders ended last weekend. Team Gigantti and EnVyUs claimed victory. During the tournament, all teams were under considerable tension – after all, a lot depended on the victory.
Perhaps the tips from the pros will help some to hold this trophy in their hands next season.
The fact that the two winners were able to prevail is partly due to their better teamwork. The colleagues from Invenglobal learned in an interview how the pros stay relaxed despite stress.
Tim “Manneten” Bylund from Team Misfits explains that one should focus on the goal. “It is important to remind your teammates of the strategy. Don’t overreact, stay calm. Remind everyone of their tactic. When the team has been wiped out, it’s important to tell the team: ‘We can do it!’”
Take a step back and analyze
A much more self-critical approach is taken by the European winners from Team Gigantti. They reflect on their mistakes, look at the situation in the “big picture,” and rely on their experience.
The team’s tank, Jonna “Fragi” Laine, emphasizes this point especially: “When you train and establish a routine, you have a system. In a high-pressure situation, you can fall back into this system. When we lose, we think, ‘What is our plan for next time?’ We take a step back and so allow ourselves to assess the situation.”
DPS/Flex player Jiri “LiNkzr” Masalin adds that this very step allows for adapting to the situation and thus achieving victory. Support player Jonas “Shaz” Suovaara adds: “We generally have no problem with nerves. […] Even a 6-man wipe doesn’t affect us. That’s our mentality. […] I think the most important thing is to *play your* game.”
The tips have likely helped Team Gignatti themselves: they won the OW Contenders European tournament.
Ignore the audience, rely on experience
The American winning team, EnVyUs, follows a strategy of indifference. They do not pay attention to the audience at major tournaments. Tank player Christian “cocco” Jonsson summarizes this: “Normally, we ignore the audience when we play. Focus on the screen. If you do that, it always feels the same, no matter where you play.”
The team agrees that they have played so much that excitement is simply no longer present. This can also be transferred to ranked play: once enough rounds have been played, there’s no reason to put pressure on yourself. Almost no chance is unique.
In regular ranked matches, fortunately, there is no audience that needs to be ignored.
The complete interviews can be found in our sources.
What does this mean for the “average Joe”?
The comments from the pros primarily concern tournament situations and games in front of large audiences. However, they are also very useful as tips for everyday play in ranked mode. The essence of all pro players is:
always look ahead and stay positive
evaluate mistakes objectively and make it better next time
don’t get flustered – find your calm again when you get upset
gain experience, it gives you opportunities. No one is born a master
EnVyUs after winning the North American section of the tournament.
Many games are lost because one or more players simply switch off in frustration (“tilting” in gamer jargon and from poker). This can be prevented by the above tips and not only improves your own gaming experience but that of all teammates!
