Today Xur arrives in Destiny 2.Where is Xur and what items does he have available? Here are the location and inventory for December 22nd.
In the coming days, Xur will take on the role of Santa Claus in the Destiny universe. While he has no gifts to give and doesn’t wear a red coat, he will appear this Friday and won’t leave until the end of the holidays on December 26th at 6 PM. And if you have been good and collected Legendary Shards over the last few days, he will generously offer you his exotic goods.
Let’s see what the Agent of the Nine brings for Christmas. Let’s welcome him together.
All info about Xur in Destiny 2 on December 22nd on PS4, Xbox One, and PC
When does Xur arrive? – Time
Xur arrives on Fridays at 6 PM. He will depart on Tuesday, December 26th, at 6 PM. In the meantime, you can visit him, chat a bit, maybe throw a snowball in his tentacle face, and then innocently rummage through his inventory.
Where is Xur? You can find Xur at this location today
Xur has specific positions where he likes to hang out over the weekend. This time, Xur is located on Titan in The Rig.
Offer and inventory of Xur – List of items with prices
Weapon: Risky Business – Submachine Gun for 29 Legendary Shards
Hunter: Lucky Pants – Leg Armor for 23 Legendary Shards
Note – Since last week, Xur has been selling two new items:
Fate Engrams: Once a week, you can purchase a Fate Engram from Xur. This is supposed to contain an Exotic you do not yet own (if you do not already own all the Exotics Xur can bring).
Three of Coins: An easier form of “Three of Coins” returns. These increase the drop rates for Exotics from all sources in Destiny 2 for 4 hours.
However, both items are bugged. The Fate Engrams sometimes drop duplicates. This is being investigated by Bungie. And the Three of Coins do not work properly in the heroic Strikes. You can read more about the Three of Coins here.

During the Christmas season, Niantic rewards many trainers with new stops and gyms for Pokémon GO. Are you among them?
There’s more to celebrate than just the current Christmas event in Pokémon GO. As the developers explain, many PokéStops and gyms will be added around the world in the coming days.
Ingress players create more PokéStops
On Twitter, the Niantic team confirmed that the Pokémon GO app will soon be enhanced with more content. They say that with the help of Ingress players from around the world, interesting locations have been found. The Operation Portal Recon ensures that important locations are reported and then verified.
If a location is accepted, it transforms into an Ingress portal and possibly also into PokéStops or gyms.

We are looking forward to seeing how the environment for trainers will change in the coming days. Currently, urban players still have a significant advantage over rural players, as there are usually many stops and gyms in the city. In the countryside, these are rarely found.
At first glance, many players are happy that there could be more stops in their area. On the other hand, one must also consider that these stops are suggested and submitted by Ingress players.
So, if you do not play Ingress in addition to Pokémon GO, you have to rely on the help of other players. In villages, where there are already fewer players, it is difficult to find active Ingress players. Thus, the system turns in circles.
Fortunately, Niantic is already looking for developers who are apparently to create a new method for submitting stops. This time without the help of Ingress.

In The Division, there are now Encrypted Advent Containers in the game. How to get some of them for free, you can find out here.
Since this Friday, December 22nd, it has become a bit more festive in the post-apocalyptic New York. Because from now on you can open new encrypted containers that hold festive cosmetic items.
These are “Encrypted Advent Containers”, which cost one Cipher Key each at the Premium Vendor. Cipher Keys can be purchased with real money or crafted from key fragments that you randomly find from named bosses.
Or you can grab 5 free keys now.
Off to the Reward Vendor!
Since today, there are 5 free Cipher Keys as a gift from Massive, so you can immediately wear some festive cosmetics. However, these Cipher Keys are not immediately in your inventory – you must pick up the gift first.
When you enter the Operations Base through the main entrance, go directly to the left. Pass the Weapon Vendor and the Gear Vendor. The next vendor is the Reward Vendor.
Talk to the Reward Vendor and select the “Resource” tab in the upper right. There you will see the keys that you can now collect.
Now go to the terminal, where in the back corner clearly marked is the Premium Vendor. Select “Encrypted Containers” there. In this overview, you will see the Encrypted Advent Containers.
Inside such a container are three random items. These can be backpack skins, weapon skins, and other cosmetics – and new items from theAdvent Collection. You can find the Advent Collection in your inventory under “Appearance”. Go to “Collections” and scroll down where the Advent Collection is listed. It consists of
an Advent Scarf
Advent Shoes
an Advent Jacket
Advent Pants
an Advent Hat
If you equip all items, you have a top-notch Santa Claus costume.
Note: The Advent containers will be available in the game until January 11, 2018.
Recently, a quest in Destiny 2 has become available, leading to the 14th Saint and his shotgun Perfect Paradox. However, the background of the supposedly dead Guardian has not been clarified. An interesting theory suggests that the 14th Saint is still alive. Sounds paradoxical? It is!
After an obviously dead Guardian was found in the adventure “On and On” on Mercury, the excitement was great. Who is he and what role does he play? Datamining in the game files suggested that it must be the 14th Saint.
Eventually, a legendary shotgun was also found in the files, which could undoubtedly be attributed to the 14th Saint.
The Redditor ComradePoolio now describes in a theory, that the 14th Saint is not dead at all, and that he must cross our paths at least once in the future.
The chicken-and-egg discussion about the perfect paradox
Hints to this theory can be found in the lore of the Perfect Paradox – the legendary shotgun that we can forge in the Forge on Mercury. The required parts for it are found at the corpse of the 14th Saint.
The lore text states the following:
I never found Osiris, but I destroyed enough Vex to end a war. And in return, they delivered a deadly blow: They created a Ghost whose sole purpose was to siphon the light out of me. And that worked well.
Don’t worry (you don’t worry too much anyway). The crafting of the Ghost took centuries, thanks to the unique frequency of my light. And now I sit on its ruined shell. I regret that I never achieved your successes.
To me, you represent everything a Guardian can ever be. Your city thrives. Quite unlike mine. I spent my whole fourteenth life trying to make my city yours. I never achieved that goal. All I have left is this weapon.
The Cryptarchs say that you made it yourself. That you forged it in the Infinite Forge out of scrap and light and pure willpower. I will ensure it returns to you. When you gave it to me, I vowed that I would follow your example. And I still strive for that. – The 14th Saint
It is known that the 14th Saint followed Osiris after his banishment to Mercury to find him and bring him back. In this attempt, the 14th Saint ultimately perished. Through a Ghost made by the Vex that siphoned the light from the 14th Saint.
The corpse of the 14th Saint
The theory now assumes that the 14th Saint is addressing us, the Guardians, in the embedded lore text above. As “evidence,” the statement is cited that ultimately we crafted the shotgun: “The Cryptarchs say that you made it yourself. That you forged it in the Infinite Forge out of scrap and light and pure willpower.” Because that is precisely what we do with the quest surrounding the Perfect Paradox.
How could we have crafted a shotgun whose remains we only found with the 14th Saint?
This can only work if we hand this shotgun over to the 14th Saint. This has not happened yet, thus we are talking about an event in the future. Although this event lies in the future for us – the Guardians – it must be in the past for the 14th Saint, who lies dead before us in the quest.
At this point, we hand him the shotgun, which he will carry for the rest of his life. The 14th Saint promised that this will find its way back to us. Therefore, he is right.
The helmet of the 14th Saint in Destiny 2
The whole process represents a perfect paradox. We are recreating the weapon based on the remains found at the corpse. However, we only find these remains because we have handed the weapon to the 14th Saint at some point.
The 14th Saint once saved the Last City. He is regarded as a legend and inspiration for many people, even for us as Guardians. With the Curse of Osiris, the helmet of the 14th Saint was also introduced into the game. The lore text of the helmet states the following (excerpt):
Cayde-6 (C6): When talking about the Speaker as if he were related, I would call that eccentric. To claim he has seen the future and fought at the Six Fronts and firmly believes that a Guardian savior will come? That’s crazy.
Speaker (SX): Faith can move mountains.
C6: Yeah, right. A Guardian will set everything right. Will shove Crota off the Moon. And leave us looking really good in front of the Vanguard. Hey, where are you going?
SX: To one of the new recruits from old Russia, who has caught my interest – is in the Crucible for the first time.
C6: Hey, maybe that’s your savior. Can we then call it “Crota’s End”?
The 14th Saint was at one point in his life able to see into the future. And he saw a “Guardian Savior,” someone who would defeat Crota. That was us, the Guardians. We were once the inspiration for the 14th Saint, his drive.
Just because he could see the future, he fought for it – both for the protection of the Last City and his participation in the battle of the Six Fronts. This had less to do with the faith that the Speaker attributes in the lore text – the 14th Saint simply knew what he was doing, as he had seen the future.
The Speaker – banished Osiris and sent the 14th Saint on a quest
If the 14th Saint had not known the future, he would not have been inspired by us, and the battle would likely have been lost – leading to the fall of the Last City and the Traveler. Ultimately, we would have never awakened – and thus never inspired the 14th Saint.
This is an endless loop. Only the 14th Saint’s actions allowed us to become Guardians, who then in turn inspired the 14th Saint in his actions. Crazy! Either way – we will encounter the 14th Saint in our future to hand him the shotgun, should the theory be true.
What do you think of this theory? Do you agree – or is it nonsense?

It is snowing in GTA 5 Online and the city entices with snowball fights, firework launchers, and cool deals in the shops.
Finally, the time has come. The Christmas season in GTA 5 Online is now supported by heavy snowfall, turning the streets of the online world into a big sliding adventure. No more maneuvering the fastest cars in a perfect line through Los Santos. The time for your coolest drift cars has come. The plan now is “fun” instead of “speed.”
In addition, RockstarGames is giving us big discounts on vehicles and properties.
GTA 5 Online Snow is now active
The snow on the streets of GTA 5 attracts many players to the game during Christmas time. Then, for the tuned cars, a working handbrake is more valuable than good looks. Suddenly, players are drifting around corners or ending up in a field because the planned drift did not go as planned.
You can also customize your characters with festive clothing. This ranges from Christmas hats to festive onesies. Don’t like the appearance of another character? No problem. With the “G” key on the keyboard or the “Left” button on the DPad, you can pick up snow and throw the full Christmas joy in the face of other players.
Christmas Deals in GTA 5 Online
If you want to indulge in fat properties, luxury cars, or attack vehicles with your Christmas money, you can save big right now.
The following discounts are now active:
Properties
Arcadius Business Center – 30% discount
Fort Zancudo Hangar 3499 – 30% discount
Luxury Vehicles

Occupy Game Mode with Double Rewards
In the new Occupy game mode of GTA 5 Online, the goal is to capture and hold land. Protect control points from enemies, as those who hold points win the game. The developers celebrate the new mode with double GTA dollars and double RP as a reward. This is valid until January 8.
The time has come: The development studio Portalarium has set the quasi-release date for the MMORPG Shroud of the Avatar – quasi, because they leave a backdoor open for postponements.
On December 1, 2017, Richard “Lord British” Garriott, founder of Portalarium, announced on Twitter that the final release date of Shroud of the Avatar would be announced soon. On December 14, it finally happened. However, it was no longer referred to as a “final” date, but rather a “Release Candidate”. So a version that – if everything goes well – could become the release version.
Possible Release Date Revealed
This Release Candidate will be published on March 27, 2018. That is supposed to be the date when Shroud of the Avatar leaves the Early Access phase. There is no longer talk of a real launch. Also, the offline mode that was so praised during the Kickstarter campaign is now only a small entry in the list of upcoming features for the next three months. A map feature for the offline mode is supposed to be adjusted. This has once again led to some controversial discussions, which is basically a part of SotA’s daily life.
According to the developers, they wanted to take care of making SotA a good offline gaming experience in the end. But so far, the offline mode plays anything but well. It feels like an offline MMORPG and not like a “full-fledged” single-player experience. Since fans of the offline mode have been waiting for improvements until the very end and these are apparently not coming, there is once again a tense atmosphere.
Free Trial Stealthily Released
Also somewhat surprising is the stealthy release of the unlimited playable Free Trial of the game, essentially a kind of free-to-play mode with restrictions. This version launched on December 20, without any real announcement. There is a small hint about the launch on the official Facebook page. Given the currently low player numbers (about 135 simultaneous active players according to Steamcharts), one would think that the developers of SotA would want to increase the population with a “quasi-free-to-play mode”.
March 27 is going to be an interesting date for fans of Shroud of the Avatar. Will the MMORPG actually launch then? What impression will it make at release and can the required 50,000 active players, as stated by the developers, really be reached to maintain operations? One can only hope that Shroud of the Avatar does not meet the same fate as The Culling. There, the end of the Early Access phase did not bring in new players.
As can still be seen from comments about the game on many websites, the opinion about Shroud of the Avatar has not improved. Many fans are still angry.

How have the last few months been at Mein MMO? What is planned for Christmas and what can you expect in 2018 on our website for online gaming?
The holidays are just around the corner. This is the time to reflect or stuff your face with various roasted meats – and it is time for a greeting from the editorial team. Every two to three months, we at Mein MMO want to pause briefly and explain to you how the last months have been for us and what we have planned for the near future.
2017 – a year of growth and learning
For us at Mein MMO, 2017 was a year in which we learned a lot.
While at the end of 2014 we were still a small MMO blog with a handful of people, many more people are now working on Mein MMO in 2017. We are now the largest magazine for online gaming in Europe. This requires different structures and ways of working.
In 2017, many changes happened behind the scenes. The way we work and communicate in the editorial team is completely different in December 2017 than it was at the beginning of the year. Additionally, we are increasingly understanding what you, the readers, expect from us and are striving to meet the growing demands on our site.
Not everything works out perfectly. Some new attempts miss the mark, while others fall short and fizzle out. But overall, we feel that we made significant progress with our website in 2017.
Since then, author Guddy Hoffmann-Schoenborn has joined us. She has strengthened the editorial team since mid-October. Guddy has covered for us the turbulent launch of Star Wars Battlefront 2, visited the Hearthstone Tavern, and has summarized the history of MMOs.
Surely you will read and see much more from Guddy in the future.
2017 – the results
The year 2017 was successful for us.
The first half of the year was thin in new games – we were mainly occupied with expansions to existing major MMORPGs. During that time, we had about 100,000 visitors on the site every day.
With September and Destiny 2, we then gained significant momentum. On September 14, during a grueling maintenance for Destiny 2, we broke the user record for simultaneous active users. The number of visitors has now leveled out to about 150,000 people per day.
Overall, we have grown by about 40% in 2017 compared to the previous year. This is all the more remarkable because there was actually a long absence of major releases and novelties in 2017. Thus, 2017 was also a time when we learned to find topics that interest our readers, even when there is little going on.
It is one thing to run a site about online gaming when blockbuster games are being released. But it’s another when it’s mid-February and the studios’ blinds are still drawn. But even that can be managed.
Christmas at Mein MMO
We will still be here for you over the Christmas holidays, but not as active as during the rest of the year. We also spend time with our families and friends.
In 2017, we worked a lot on the inside, rearranging and innovating.
In 2018, a lot will happen on the outside. For February, a relaunch of our website is planned. This won’t just be a “fresh coat of paint.” After the reopening, the website will gradually receive additional features for the readers:
We will introduce a user account system, so you can register here on Mein MMO and customize the site to your personal preferences. Many of you have requested that you be able to see only certain games or exclude certain games altogether. That should be possible.
We plan for you to be able to write user reviews of games – because we believe that you are the experts on many games
The performance of the site will improve, so it should be faster
We are considering a mobile app in 2018
and we want to experiment with a forum – forum and app are the two requests we have heard most frequently from you
The focus of Mein MMO in 2018 will be to involve you, the community, more in the site. In conversations with readers, we often hear that we have built a respectable and beautiful community. We want to bring this community into sharper focus in 2018 and respond to their needs.
Keep your fingers crossed for us that all of this works out. You know how it is with patches and updates – a lot can be said, but what ultimately comes out is what matters.
We of the editorial team at Mein MMO wish you and your friends and families a peaceful and joyful Christmas 2017 and a happy new year.
We all wish for a year 2018 in which online gaming makes a big leap forward and gives us great gaming hours with friends!

Brendan Greene, the chief developer of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PC, Xbox One) spoke in a podcast about honking trolls and “stream snipers” in PUBG. According to him, it’s not that bad.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is a battle royale game that many players stream via Twitch. However, this also brings problems. Some players take great pleasure in trolling and disrupting well-known streamers.
But what does the head of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds think about such actions?
Brendan Greene finds “stream honking” funny
Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene was a guest on the “H3 Podcast” and chatted there for nearly 2 hours about the game, his life so far, and his career. The developer was also asked about the problems in the game, including the notorious “stream honkers”.
It is annoying, of course, but according to Greene, it’s not that bad and actually quite funny. Anyone who gets upset about it should “just calm down.” After all, it’s not about winning a million dollars. In any case, no one will be banned just for being a honking troll.
Stream snipers are basically okay
Similarly, Greene has a liberal view of stream snipers. These are players who specifically kill streamers by tracking their position through their live stream, gaining an advantage. They know where they can catch the streamer.
This behavior is unsportsmanlike, but as long as such a sniper does not purposely follow a streamer permanently and ruin their game, it’s okay. However, complaints would be taken seriously and the situation thoroughly analyzed. Anyone who actually wants to completely ruin a streamer’s game can expect a ban.

By the way, Greene does not want to implement protective measures, such as a stream delay, into the game. The appeal of live streaming on Twitch is precisely in real-time streaming. However, streamers can ensure their own protection by hiding their lobby list or streaming with a delay.
The holidays over Christmas are nice and all, but eventually, the time for contemplation comes to an end. Which MMOs rescue you from the holiday rut?
Christmas and the holidays are approaching, and for many of you, that means the full package of contemplation and family time. These are certainly nice things that I wouldn’t want to miss. But sooner or later, I need a change from the holiday routine, and that’s where online games come in handy.
Christmas time is gamer time
I always associate beautiful gaming experiences with the Christmas season. Back in the 90s, I got my first SNES, and that’s when my gamer “career” really started.
I remember spending all the remaining holidays and Christmas break playing Zelda and Super Mario World, and the holidays were over far too quickly.
MMOs under the Christmas tree
Later on, I would often receive games as Christmas gifts, and so the holidays were always clearly gamer time for me after the obligatory family events. Plus, I had time to play undisturbed since everyone else was just lazily lounging around.
When I later started earning my first money, I even treated myself to my first MMO for Christmas. It was Guild Wars 1, and I started playing it exactly on December 24th at noon. Hours later, I had stress with my family. I had completely forgotten that they wanted to celebrate Christmas with me today.
Since then, Guild Wars has always been the “Christmas MMO” for me, as the Christmas event was happening in the game at that time, and I found the capital city beautifully decorated first. To this day, I still somehow associate the game with Christmas.
What do you play at Christmas?
But enough about my anecdotes regarding Christmas gaming. What about you? Are you like me and use the quiet time to play games all day long? Or does family come first for you, and you hardly find time to play? Let us know in the comments.
I, Jürgen, will be casually playing Warframe, playing a few rounds of PUBG, and finally enjoying the massive graphics of Battlefront 2 on my new PC. What are you playing?

The Christmas event 2017 in Pokémon GO brings us more surprises. A new shiny form of a Gen-3 Pokémon can now be found in the wild.
On December 21, the Christmas event 2017 in Pokémon GO started. A few hours earlier, the developers revealed the special features that players can expect. Special offers and incubators, as well as extra Ice-type Pokémon, are among the event’s features.
Other special changes that the developers did not mention, also found their way into the game.
Shiny Schneppke
Schneppke is a Pokémon of the 3rd generation and evolves into Firmontor or Frosdedje (4th generation). It is one of the 20 new Pokémon released by Niantic for the Christmas event.
Apart from the standard form, you can also find Schneppke as a rare shiny.
Extended Lures
The many new Pokémon of the 3rd generation bring variety to the trainers’ collections. To allow you to catch as many as possible, Niantic extended the duration of the lures.
Lures can be activated at PokéStops and attract wild monsters to these locations.
Until January 4, 2018, the lures last six hours instead of just 30 minutes.
Extra Stardust from Botogel and Pikachu
Many trainers noticed that there is extra Stardust for catching Botogel or the special Santa Pikachus. If you catch them, you will receive 250 Stardust.
Botogel and Pikachu also have “Gift” as a quick attack. The extra Stardust can be seen as a Christmas gift from Niantic to the trainers.
Furthermore, the special Christmas Pichu are now hatching from 2km eggs.

Wailmer as Level 1 Raid
The whale Pokémon Wailmer can now be found as a level 1 raid (and in the wild) in Pokémon GO. We’ve already taken a closer look at the large monsters. Wailmer and Wailord – The whale Pokémon
To evolve Wailmer into Wailord, 400 candies are needed. As a buddy, the whale does quite well, as it shows its best smile in the preview:
The next hero for Heroes of the Storm is known. A popular unit from StarCraft is coming to the Nexus – the Firebat.
The year 2017 is almost over for Heroes of the Storm. But there was still a surprise that came just in time for Christmas. The next hero to enter the Nexus has been revealed!
Blaze Firebat comes from StarCraft, and veterans will recognize him not just by his name as a Firebat. Just like in the strategy game, he brings two flamethrowers that are perfect for making the Zerg swarms feel the heat.
A short trailer featuring Winter Jaina, who just wanted to build a snowman, announces Blaze:

Blaze will enter as a Warrior, focusing on area damage, making large areas of the maps hard to access for opponents.
Firebat is expected to be released early in 2018 – likely in the first week of the new year.
New Stealth Mode with Tactics
In the past few weeks, there have been significant changes in Heroes of the Storm. The major winter gameplay update is live and has altered several mechanics in the game. The biggest changes are:
Stealth is now clearly noticeable as an outline. Stealthed heroes can still not be targeted and must be hit with an area attack first. When stealthed heroes are motionless, they become completely invisible, without a visual cue for the opponent.
A tower has been removed from every fortress. The health and power of the tower have been integrated into the fortress.
Fortresses can now reveal stealth.
Fortresses and towers no longer have ammunition – they fire indefinitely.
Regeneration orbs are only available for a brief time for your team, after which they become neutral and can be picked up by both teams.
The first map objective (chests, tributes, temples, etc.) now always spawns after a fixed time interval. Either after 90 or 180 seconds, depending on the map.
Cortyn says: I generally like the new stealth mode, but it seems that a hero was overlooked in the revisions – Tyrande. She can have stealth as her heroic ability, but she hasn’t been improved. This makes her stealth mode weaker and makes the High Priestess of Elune a bit boring to play. I hope there will be improvements here!
What do you think of the changes to Heroes of the Storm? Are you looking forward to Firebat?
Guardians are throwing infinite Nova Bombs in the Destiny 2 Witch’s Cauldron. Bungie is aware of the issue but cannot fix it in time.
The Dawning event in Destiny 2 has been running for a few days now, celebrating the awakening of the Traveler and the return of your Light. Therefore, along with “The Dawning”, the PvP mode Witch’s Cauldron was introduced, where your abilities recharge much faster, allowing you to cause chaos with your Super attacks and celebrate the Light appropriately.
However, one Guardian class is currently overdoing it with this celebration of Light: A glitch has been discovered with the Voidwalker Warlock that allows for infinite Nova Bombs. This means the Witch’s Cauldron is currently exploding with Void energy.

Community manager dmg04 and the official Bungie Twitter account have spoken out multiple times in recent hours to address this glitch. It is spreading like wildfire on social media. In just a few hours, “big” Destiny YouTubers have also reported on it and provided step-by-step guides.
At this point, we will refrain from providing a guide. The glitch cannot occur “accidentally” as you must change the default Destiny controls on your console to do so. The glitch allows you to throw one Nova Bomb after another at enemies. There is no cooldown.
Bungie now confirms that this glitch occurs exclusively in the Witch’s Cauldron. Furthermore, they will not be able to fix it before The Dawning ends in early 2018.
Dmg04 shared on reddit that the Witch’s Cauldron mode will meet its end along with the Dawning. This means that the glitch will remain in the game until the Witch’s Cauldron is finished anyway. So continue to watch out for Voidwalkers.
Additionally, dmg04 tweeted that Guardians who exploit this glitch do not have to fear penalties. They will not be banned. The blame lies with Bungie. They will address the issue as soon as possible. But not during the Dawning.
Have you already fallen victim to a nasty Voidwalker glitcher?
A change in regulations by Apple means that many mobile games must now lay all the cards on the table. The odds of loot boxes in iOS will be disclosed!
Loot boxes have come under criticism in recent months. The outcry has grown louder, claiming that the loot crates available for real money are indeed gambling, which drains money from players’ pockets. Now, it is Apple that is taking the first step towards greater transparency.
Anyone wishing to offer an app in the Apple Store that includes loot boxes or “other mechanics that contain random virtual items” must disclose the exact odds for each type of item.
One might naturally ask: “What do we PC and console gamers care about this?” and would be right at first glance. However, it’s important to remember that the mobile market is playing an increasingly significant role in gaming, and the Apple Store is one of the largest platforms for potential players.
Game manufacturers likely have an interest in having the “loot box issue” regulated by the gaming market to quiet the outcry from customers and concerned players. If politics takes up this issue, then loot boxes could quickly be officially classified as gambling.
This, in turn, would mean that games with loot boxes could only be released for those aged 18 or even 21 in many countries.
By the way: In China, there is already a corresponding law. Providers of loot boxes must disclose the odds with which players can obtain items of different rarity levels.
What do you think of this step by Apple? Is it a good step in the right direction, and should other game providers (such as Steam) urgently follow suit? Or should we wait until politics officially regulates this?

Those who enjoy story-driven games and have played the predecessor should also consider Life is Strange: Before the Storm. The last episode was released only recently, and the game is tempting with a 30% discount – instead of €16.99, it now costs only €11.89.
But there are many more highlights; here is a small excerpt:
Elite Dangerous – 75% discount, instead of €24.99 only €6.24
Blackwake – 30% discount, instead of €19.99 only €13.99
All games are reduced until January 4, 2018. So if you are not sure yet or want to wait for the family Christmas money, you are on the safe side.
Apart from the Christmas sale, you can also nominate games for various awards on Steam. However, the really “cool kids” vote on this article, as it much better reflects the opinion of our community, doesn’t it?
Our author Leya has played the full version of Monster Hunter World and can tell you that this title offers more action than its predecessors. Additionally, Monster Hunter World is designed to be much more accessible than its predecessors, without losing any challenges.
After playing the beta of Monster Hunter World, I was already sure that something good was coming our way. Shortly after, I got the opportunity from Capcom to play the full version of Monster Hunter World for 3 hours. To summarize: This gaming experience further reinforced my positive impression from the beta!
Because a lot was still missing in the demo version of the beta that the full version of Monster Hunter World will offer. If you found the beta too easy and too shallow, I can assure you: The full version of Monster Hunter World has much more to offer.
Character editor allows slim ladies with full beards
At first, I could have spent many hours just creating my hunter. The character editor allows for a wide variety of creations.
It is possible to create a slim huntress and still give her a full beard. The male hunter can also wear all female hairstyles and makeup.
The skin color, eyes, or hair can be customized in the smallest detail. This also applies to physique and body shape. There are base colors where you can use a slider to determine the exact shade.
The design of the Palicos is less detailed. I would have thought that creating the cat companion would be as extensive as that of the player avatar. However, here there are only a few predefined body parts available.
For example, there are specific ear or tail shapes that you can give your cat. However, there is a lot of room for play in fur color and patterns. The predefined body parts are also so diverse that there should be something for everyone.
The fast start makes the tutorial run in the background
Unlike in previous parts, you are thrown directly into a fast-paced story at the beginning.
Monster Hunter World takes a slightly different approach than its predecessors. The tutorial is fully integrated into the gameplay and you learn the movement or the use of weapons incidentally. Players receive an interactive introduction to Monster Hunter World, making the start feel dynamic.
An important support is provided by the language. Veterans know that NPCs in Monster Hunter had no real language in older parts, but only babbled in a fantasy language. You had to read every single explanation in the game.
In Monster Hunter World, NPCs are synchronized for the first time and provide hints and instructions. I could look around everywhere and constantly stay in motion while the characters in the game explained everything to me incidentally. The spoken words are also displayed as text on the side.
When I set out on my first hunt, an NPC shouted from the background about the properties of my weapon and what I needed to pay attention to. In the meantime, I was happily hacking away.
You simply don’t notice that the game is guiding you through the tutorial, as it is closely tied to the story and gameplay.
Monster Hunter World offers more than the demo suggests
After the first beta ended, I saw criticism on Mein-MMO.de that the demo was much too easy.
I can guarantee you that this demo only showed a glimpse of what awaits us in the full version. During my test, I managed to hunt and slay the Great Jagras. It was also the first major monster encountered in the beta.
The Great Jagras alone has more mechanics up its sleeve than it shows in the beta. Additionally, the world in the full version is even richer than in the beta. There are many small monsters and creatures that can interfere with your hunt.
The scout flies lead the hunter to the target and even provide hints about which items can be collected and are valuable on the maps. However, this does not make the hunt and the game easier.
There are other mechanics that made me sweat quite a bit. In the past, each area of the map was separated by a loading screen, which is different in Monster Hunter World now.
The transitions between areas are seamless, and you can’t just escape from monsters through a loading screen when the hunter is injured. With my weak beginner equipment, I was sometimes heavily injured and had to desperately look for a safe place to take a health potion.
I can imagine that there are other mechanics waiting in later areas that present a new challenge.
The full version of Monster Hunter World positively surprised me
Much of what you couldn’t see in the demo came as a pleasant surprise to me. The full version of Monster Hunter World still had a lot in store that had not yet been revealed in trailers or interviews. I have only seen a fraction of the beginner area.
I cannot judge how compelling Monster Hunter World will be in the long run. From earlier parts, I know that the franchise tends to become a grind fest in the later stages. You have to enjoy defeating the same monster over and over again to obtain the desired gear.
But for now, I assume that Monster Hunter World is suitable for players who do not enjoy grinding. Even those who only follow the quests of the story campaign and see all the maps and monsters once should find it enjoyable.
The Pokémon GO Plus gadget helps trainers catch monsters. The new Pokémon update has now fixed an annoying bug.
To help trainers catch Pokémon and spin PokéStops, the Pokémon GO Plus gadget was developed and was introduced shortly after the release of Pokémon GO in the summer of 2016.
The small, teardrop-shaped gadget has exactly one button and has still caused a lot of frustration among trainers in recent months. This is because it no longer simplified catches as players were used to.
Pokémon GO Plus iOS 11 – Bug fixed?
Since the release of iOS version 11, many trainers have reported issues with the GO Plus. Players who installed the new iOS noticed a significant delay when catching. They had to wait for three vibrations from the gadget before pressing the button (to catch a Pokémon or spin a Stop) was accepted.
Since December 19, trainers have had access to the Pokémon GO update 0.87.5, which has apparently addressed the issues with the GO Plus. On Reddit, several trainers report that they can now press the button to catch Pokémon even before the three vibrations of the gadget. Here is the corresponding thread on Reddit.
In our self-experiment, we went after the issue and can confirm that no significant delays occur on our test phone (iPhone 6s, iOS 11.2.1) anymore. Already during the first vibration of the gadget, we can press the button, which is then registered in Pokémon GO. The delay bug has been fixed on many devices with the new update.
However, Android users complain that the GO Plus still works with delays for them.
If you were affected by the bug and set the GO Plus aside because of it, you should give the helper another chance now. Maybe you can confirm the discovery.
Christmas festivities in The Division start tomorrow, on December 22.
Basically, it’s always Christmas in The Division, as the setting is a few weeks after Black Friday – meaning it’s always holiday season. Nevertheless, there are a few new things awaiting you in the post-apocalypse in the coming days.
Just now, the State of the Game on December 21 aired, where the community developers Hamish Bode and Yannick Banchereau talked about the upcoming events. We summarize the key information.
What to expect around Christmas in The Division
Starting tomorrow, on December 22, there will be new encrypted containers at the premium vendor. These containers have a “Christmas” theme and contain festive outfits. Last year there were bobble hats, this year there are supposed to be new Christmas items (which are not known yet). To open the encrypted Christmas containers, you need cipher keys, as usual. You can buy these for real money or craft them with key fragments that you randomly find from named bosses.
These special containers will be in the game until January 11, 2018. Tomorrow you will receive 5 free keys to start collecting some of the items right away.
Additionally, a “special event” starts on December 26. It is a “double rewards” event, where you earn double performance containers. It ends on December 28 at 1 AM.
More information from the State of the Game:
Tomorrow, on December 22, maintenance work will take place. From 9:30 AM to approximately 11:30 AM. A bug in the treasure map mission will be fixed.
The 4th global event is planned for the end of January. A specific date is still pending.
The Xbox One X upgrade is definitely still coming. However, there is no date for it yet.
Currently, there are no immediate plans to adjust the secret gear sets and change the balance. They will wait a while and observe the data.
There will be no more State of the Game next week. When the next one will be held will be announced later.
Yannick Banchereau and Hamish Bode will still be around in 2018. So The Division is far from over.
A few stats about Global Event 3, which ended this week:
The Lexington mission was completed 10,869,470 times during the event. That’s 10% of all Lexington completions in the last almost 2 years!
During the event, a total of 15,799,810,754 GE Credits were earned.
All GE commendations could be mastered by 1,385 players.
10,284,302 Superior Assault Containers were opened.
