Pace doesn’t seem to be as much in focus as in previous FIFAs: Since the game is generally a bit slower, tactics and tackling behavior come more into focus than the speed attribute of the players. A Mats Hummels was not overrun helplessly by a Cristiano Ronaldo, but was able to challenge for the ball. How important pace will be in the final game we cannot predict yet, but our first impressions have positively surprised us.

Tackles feel different in FIFA 19: I found it harder to win the ball with a normal tackle (circle button on PS4) than in FIFA 18. The reason is the new feature called “50/50 Battles”. This shows players having “more instinct” in tackles, always trying to get a foot to the ball somehow. Thus, tackle situations are more contested – and you can feel it on the pitch.
The tackles we executed all went very well. In FIFA 19 they are certainly an effective means to win the ball. Shielding (with L2 on PS4) had, on the other hand, almost no benefit.
Gray arrows over players: What we also liked was a grayed-out arrow over a teammate when you are the defending team. This indicates which player you will switch to when you press the player switch button. It is also the player who rushes in when you request support in a tackle. Once, the ball gently flew just a few centimeters past the goalkeeper, and instead of sticking out a hand, the goalkeeper threw himself to the ground as if struck by lightning. Okay, Manuel Neuer made a few spectacular saves that looked really good. But we were genuinely surprised by how much the goalkeepers let in.
Long shots are too effective: While none of our chipped long shots went in, every normal shot from distance – so just pressing circle on the PS4 – found the back of the net. You can only try to block the shot with a defender as the goalkeeper certainly will not save it. While testing, I wrote down three times: “Long shots OP” in bold.

Regarding the goalkeepers: When you press the right stick inward and then move the stick, you can control the goalkeeper and possibly position him better. We tried this new feature several times: it works flawlessly, but we couldn’t prevent a goal with it. Additionally, we noticed that the goalkeepers can kick the ball much further into the opponent’s half than in FIFA 18.
Regarding free kicks: Free kicks work exactly the same as in FIFA 18.
Regarding corners: There are also no changes to the corner mechanics.

Regarding passes and crosses: Relatively many through balls didn’t reach their target for us. Other than that, we didn’t notice anything negative. All Sparrows are earnable: With the exception of the “Comrades in Arms” Sparrow, which is unlocked by reaching a certain score in the Triumph Moments, all other companions can be earned through level-ups during the event.

The German development studio Yager has made a name for itself with the space game Dreadnought and now wants to shake up the online shooter market with the game “The Cycle” (PC).
The Cycle will not be a battle royale shooter and will not follow in the footsteps of Destiny, but will aim to take the genre in a new direction. However, this could also become somewhat problematic.
The Cycle – PvP meets PvE
Treasure seekers against treasure seekers. In the distant future, you find yourselves on a space station orbiting the planet Fortuna III. On this world, valuable resources are disputed by several factions. You belong to one of these factions and are a freelancer who regularly goes to the planet to find resources and bring them back to the space station. This helps your party gain more power.
PvE meets PvP. You begin each mission alone. During the mission, you encounter other players who can join you or whom you can help. Currently, there are about 20 players per match.
However, you can’t really trust anyone. Every player is trying to complete their mission and get to the resources. This leads to a competition for the resources. Once someone has managed to snag the resources, they should watch out for the other players.
This means that PvP is possible at any time and anywhere. A firefight between players can suddenly break out. Even if you manage to secure the resources, you are still not safe. You first have to bring them back to the space station.
The developers explain that there will be a kind of race in which you try to reach the station, but other players can attack you and want to take the resources.
Open PvP with quests – Can that go well? Many players will certainly be horrified at the thought of being constantly attacked by others during quests. Games have shown too often that this potentially opens the door for players who enjoy constantly attacking others.
The developers are aware of this and want to implement some gameplay mechanics to minimize this effect:
You will not receive rewards for attacking other players
There is no leaderboard for kills of fellow players
There is a leaderboard that shows which players progress particularly effectively in the missions
Players should be encouraged to primarily want to complete their missions and only fight against other players in emergencies
You have only one life per match. If you are eliminated, you will no longer participate in the round. Therefore, everyone must proceed cautiously
A matchmaking system will group peaceful players together and let the aggressive players play among themselves
There are indications of whether you can trust a player. For example, a bounty may be placed on a player who has cheated others
Players who constantly attack others will get branded and hunted
A little bit of Battle Royale, but with more options. The Cycle does not want to completely distance itself from Battle Royale. For example, it is possible to fight on the map until only one player remains. This player would win because they are ultimately the one who can get the resources to the station. Additionally, you will be brought to the planet by dropship, which somewhat resembles the parachute jumps from Fortnite or PUBG. Still, you will have more options:

Anthem will be an online multiplayer shooter, while BioWare is known as an RPG studio with strong stories. This shift seems strange to some fans and speculation about the studio’s motivation has arisen: even conspiracy theories.
What are the conspiracy theories? Fans accuse BioWare of being influenced by Electronic Arts. EA is said to have pressured the studio BioWare to take a different path with Anthem than what is typical for the studio. BioWare was purchased by EA in 2007.
Anthem will be different: Anthem will be a “games-as-a-service” title that will be continuously developed and supplied with new content. The game will be a cooperative multiplayer shooter where players are always online. Also, the previously shown story trailer of Anthem is quite action-packed.
This is what the studio is known for: BioWare is known for RPG games that possess a dense and well-thought-out story. Players make important decisions that influence the course of the story. A dialogue choice wheel with multiple responses and sexual romances are typical elements. At least for the release of Anthem, no romances are planned, but they could potentially make their way into the game later.
BioWare has always retained control over its games
BioWare has often taken risks and tried new things: In response to fans’ allegations, a former employee of BioWare has now spoken out. James Ohlen worked as the lead writer on Anthem and left BioWare on June 22. Ohlen says that the fans’ theories are simply untrue. It is nothing new for BioWare to take new paths.
In his opinion, BioWare has only been able to survive for as long as it has because the studio is really good at taking risks and trying new things. Ohlen refers to games like Neverwinter Nights and Star Wars: The Old Republic, both of which were something new for BioWare when they were released.
Ohlen noted: Just because Anthem is a multiplayer online game, it does not mean that the studio would suddenly stop producing “classic” BioWare games.
Taking a different path with Anthem came from BioWare itself and the team: For BioWare, according to Ohlen, it would have been an opportunity to create something different than what is typical for the studio. Even though there are a lot of conspiracy theories regarding EA, Ohlen can assure that BioWare always has control over how they design games.

BioWare’s corporate culture has also undergone a change: Ohlen noted that a lot has changed internally at BioWare in recent years. Many older employees have left the studio, including the founders Ray Muzayka and Greg Zeschuk. Many new ones have come in, and the team has grown. New features in Battle Royale from Patch 5.10
Everything is changing in Fortnite’s PvP mode:
You can find and eat cake. They provide 5 health and shield each.
There are birthday challenges. Anyone who completes three will receive a new emote, spray design, and back bling.
Supply drops now have different loot distribution. You will find many more assault rifles, fewer sniper rifles, and no more pistols. The new SMG is, by the way, present in 14.58 percent of chests. Additionally, you will find no more damage traps, but more launch pads and campfires. The Slurp Juice is also included twice as often. There will be no more Cozy Campfires in the chests, and all materials will have a 33 percent chance of appearing.
The health of stone and wood walls has been reduced, while metal walls will be harder.
You can now sprint by default.
Newly built structures now appear in a different color as long as players are standing in them.
The gyroscope controls on Nintendo Switch now rotate around the longitudinal axis instead of the yaw axis.
Bullets from sniper rifles no longer stop when they pass through certain trigger zones (e.g., from traps).

New features in Save the World from Patch 5.10
Everything is changing in Fortnite’s PvE mode:
The story continues in the Bru-Tal region. All players with access to Bru-Tal and Twine Peaks can take on the new storyline. The old Bru-Tal missions are still available and have been converted into a series of optional side missions.
Duplicate avoidance for Llamas: You now receive items that you do not already have. This change applies to epic, legendary, and mythic schematics and heroes.
The quest log has been adjusted for Twine Peaks: You can now transition directly from a Storm Shield Defense to the next while unlocking new areas without having to complete the quests in between. There are also new quests.
There are new quests for the Fortnite birthday: Find birthday cakes and eat cake pieces to earn event tickets. Additionally, eliminate the new “Cake Kaboomers” to unlock a birthday hero.
A new system for activating missions and voting has been implemented. It can now be used in the missions “Data Recovery” and “Ride the Lightning”. The new system replaces the difficulty pylon on the map and allows you to start missions at the mission location and increase the difficulty.
There are new heroes: Birthday Brigade Ramirez – a legendary variant of the soldier hero – can be unlocked through the limited-time birthday quest.
The new Mythic Constructor Steel-Wool-Syd has been added to Act 1 of the Bru-Tal quest line.

A new hotfix for patch 8.0 in World of Warcraft turns powerful raid bosses into minced meat. Especially in Antorus, they are being nerfed.
In World of Warcraft, not everything is running smoothly yet. Many enemies deal too much damage after patch 8.0, making some bosses in Azeroth nearly unbeatable. To ensure that the great adversaries return to their intended strength, a hotfix has arrived that should ensure fair fights, especially in the raid “Antorus, the Burning Throne”. The abilities of the bosses have been weakened by up to 75%!

Nerfs were necessary. Even though the numbers of the nerfs may sound like one could now stroll through Antorus in a leisurely manner and naked, this is misleading. Due to the many changes from patch 8.0, such as the stat squish and the removal of artifact weapons, the bosses have been too hard so far. Some fights were only manageable with luck, others nearly impossible. Now, at least all encounters from Antorus should be “doable” again.
Many bugs fixed. Aside from that, the hotfix has fixed many more minor bugs, such as unsolvable quests or further adjustments to damage numbers in old dungeons. Generally, every instance should now be completable again – at least that is the idea. But there will surely be another patch in the coming days.
We will apply the hotfix tonight (07/24/2018), but individual aspects might already be active.

When does the download start on Xbox One and PC? According to the Microsoft Store and No Man’s Sky Reddit, the NEXT update will be available starting from 3 PM this afternoon. The new Pokémon GO update 1.81.3 introduces the feature for Lucky Pokémon. It states:

Is the feature active yet? Since the evening of July 25th, you can find Lucky Pokémon in Pokémon GO.
Improved gifts in Pokémon GO
With the introduction of Lucky Pokémon to Pokémon GO, the gifts that friends can send to each other will also be improved.

The Foul Stink Smasher has rather mediocre to poor stats with 548 intellect, 141 stamina, 45 critical strike value, and 47 mastery. You can receive the Foul Stink Smasher as a random world drop and it is soulbound on equip – so tradeable.
However, the fish is currently popular among some players for other reasons: it has a unique appearance and fish physics.
Slap instead of clubbing: When you have equipped the Foul Stink Smasher as a weapon, you literally have a huge fish in your hand that you smack your opponents with. Although classified as a mace, the fish does not move statically like a club.
The Foul Stink Smasher has special animations upon hitting, giving it dynamic physics. When you strike, the fish in your hand moves as if you were actually slamming a dead sea creature against your enemy.

What are the Founder Skins? When Battle Royale launched at the end of 2017, buyers of the PvE version received special skins for the new mode. However, those were only gliders. Fans have been waiting for months for the two promised skin outfits to be added to the game:

What is special about these skins: Battle Royale players have been waiting for almost a year for these two skins. However, there has been no news for months. Until now!
The new skins are coming in update 5.10
New outfits for the birthday: The wait for the desired missing Founder skins has now come to an end. Today, on July 24, 2018, is not only the birthday of the original PvE Fortnite. Today, patch 5.10 is also released, which means fans of Fortnite: Battle Royale will get something, too.
Only for Founders: When the patch goes live today around noon our time and is successfully implemented on the servers, some of you should have the new skins. Unfortunately, the goodies are not available for everyone. According to Epic, the outfits are only available for holders of a Founder’s Pack.
