In Destiny 2, today, August 28th, is the last Weekly Reset before the Forsaken expansion. Fresh activities, like the Nightfall strike and Flashpoint, are live.
The servers are back online! This evening, Bungie deployed Update 2.0.0, which is set to pave the way for Forsaken. For this, the developers carried out several hours of maintenance. The maintenance is now over, the servers are back online – the last week of Year 1 has begun.
The “Solstice of Heroes” event has now concluded, and the Trials are taking a break indefinitely. Update 2.0.0 has now ushered in a kind of “transition week” until Forsaken launches on September 4th with new adventures in tow.
What can I do during the transition week?
You can check out the new weapon system from Update 2.0.0
You can clean up your Postmaster, which may have some of your weapons due to the weapon slot changes
You can try out the new heroic missions
You can hunt down the escaped prisoners from the Prison of Elders. However, they will only start dropping loot from September 4th and will appear in the open world and in Strikes.
You can finally delete your shaders in bulk
You can familiarize yourself with the new Navigator overview
And then you can kill time until the Forsaken release with the weekly activities that have now been reset. These tasks are set for you by the new week.
Note: In the milestone overview, only the clan XP milestone is displayed.
Nightfall Strikes Starting August 28th on PS4, Xbox One, and PC
Since Update 2.0.0, you can choose between three Nightfall strikes. This week, there are:
The Pyramidion
Tree of probabilities
Unknown Terrain
to choose from. The recommended Power is 270.
No modifiers are active in the normal Nightfall strike. The Prestige mode is disabled this week.
Heroic Strikes?
Heroic Strikes cannot be found under the strike overview. However, there are legacy strikes with the recommended power level of 200.
Heroic daily story missions are now available. Modifiers are Solar Burn, Glass (health and shields are halved, but regeneration is twice as fast) and Brawler (melee recharge is faster and deals more damage).
Cayde-6 has left the Tower to investigate disturbances in the Reef. Therefore, there is no Flashpoint and no treasure maps with him. The Flashpoint is now on Mars with Ana Bray.
A Senior Game Producer from World of Warcraft talks about the fascination of the MMORPG. He casually explains why new MMORPGs struggle to compete against WoW.
At Gamescom 2018, we had the opportunity for an interview with a Senior Game Producer from WoW, Michael Bybee.
The community is a strength of WoW
We asked Michael Bybee why even large publishers like Riot fear comparison with World of Warcraft and might even forgo a new MMORPG. After all, Riot Games believes, it is not a good idea to want to measure up to WoW.
The players are the strength of WoW: Bybee said in the interview that WoW is so successful because players can be found at any time.
“That is one of the great strengths of World of Warcraft. Maybe I can’t play it for a long time and explain everything to you, but I have friends who will teach you [the game]. That makes the game such a rich, profound experience,” Bybee said.
Players gather for the “Death March” – a large community, even on private servers.
WoW has 14 years of advantage over new MMORPGs
The magic of World of Warcraft: WoW has been around for 14 years and has consistently delivered new content since its release. According to Bybee, the challenge for every MMORPG is to provide enough content to stay alive.
Bybee mentions Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street from Riot Games in his response, who could bring the required experience for a LoL MMO. Michael Bybee: “He has worked on World of Warcraft, he knows exactly what the game is about.”
Bybee further states: “One of the big challenges for any MMO is: We have 14 years of game content, history, and people who have played the game, built a bond.” However, he also emphasizes that he would be happy about similar games from other developers:
“I think it would be great if other companies pursued something like that. I personally would be thrilled to play such games. I love MMOs. But I think World of Warcraft has pretty great magic when it comes to finding people to play with.”
Guild Wars 2 is turning six years old and is celebrating its birthday with an exciting video and interesting facts from the MMORPG. Guild Wars 2 showcases the most popular mounts and the most dangerous bosses. Additionally, there’s information about the upcoming Season 5.
Guild Wars 2 has been enriching MMO fans for 6 years. A good reason for ArenaNet to look back at the time that has passed and to recap the experiences. To this end, publisher ArenaNet has released some data from the game.
Guild Wars 2 has been played for almost 120,000 years
Loyal player base: Although the game is only turning 6 years old, Guild Wars 2 players have spent a total of 119,431 years of gameplay in the game.
Since the release of Guild Wars 2, there have been 22 special events in the game.
The size of the game client doubled from 20GB to over 40GB.
The favorite mount is the Raptor, with 7.3 million ride hours, followed by the Griffin, with 4.3 million ride hours.
The fiercest opponent is the Earth Djinn. You don’t want to mess with it.
The least dangerous monster is the Bog Skale. You really have to try hard to be killed by it.
You can check out more interesting data at the end of the article.
What’s next for the Living World?
Season 5 will be nostalgic: In the video, ArenaNet announces that it will transition directly from Season 4 to Season 5. There will be no expansion before Season 5.
Players can still expect new areas, gameplay-changing mechanics, a raid, and a new fractal in Season 4.
The refuge of the Sun Spears is coming: Part of Season 4 will also be the refuge of the Sun Spears. This is a personal character instance. Players can rebuild the area, unlock NPCs for it, and equip it with rewards.
Today marks the start of the early access phase of the battle royale shooter Fear the Wolves. We will explain how you can join in.
Fear the Wolves is a new battle royale shooter that aims to bring fresh air into the genre with PvE elements. You will learn how that works today if you join the launch of the early access version on Steam.
Early Access Begins
Battle Royale with Werewolves: Fear the Wolves is essentially a battle royale shooter where you fight against each other on a large but steadily shrinking game field until only one player remains.
However, dangerous wolf mutants are making the area unsafe. You will also have to fight these beasts.
Additionally, dynamic weather and suddenly appearing dangerous radiation anomalies ensure that you constantly need to adjust your tactics. Radiated areas have to be explored with protective clothing for useful loot.
Start of the Early Access Phase: On August 28, the early access phase of the online shooter begins after it was recently postponed due to feedback from beta testers. The developers state that they have now implemented this feedback.
How to Join: If you want to play, you can buy the early access version for €19.99 on Steam. The early access is now live. Then, you can download the client directly through Steam and get started.
Official Release No Longer in 2018: The early access phase of Fear the Wolves is set to run throughout the year. The official release is planned for 2019. The developers will announce an exact date later.
Console versions will also only be playable next year.

Players should still be able to revive their teammates as quickly as possible, but now there is the chance for a player to take down the boss while all others are down.
Revival Mechanics:

This time only resets if a fireteam is completely eliminated
If a player is not revived within the remaining time, the entire fireteam is wiped under the title “Shared Suffering”

Today, August 28, 2018, the big update 2.0.0 for Destiny 2 has been released. The patch already introduces some Year 2 features and paves the way for the Forsaken expansion. Here you will find all the important information regarding maintenance, server downtime, and patch notes.
Today, you can expect long maintenance times and downtime. With Update 2.0.0, the preparations for Forsaken begin today. This way, you can enjoy some long-awaited Year 2 features a week before the release of the major fall expansion on September 4.
Update August 28, 7:15 PM: The update 2.0.0 is live and can be downloaded. On PS4, it is a whopping 35.5 GB (PC nearly 36 GB and Xbox nearly 34 GB).
The second year of Destiny 2 is ushered in by two downloads
The first download comes today, August 28, and includes update 2.0.0. It also serves as the preload for Forsaken. A large part of the data will likely land on your hard drive today.
The subsequent update 2.0.0.1, which appears on September 4 – at launch – is the day-one patch for the Forsaken expansion.
These innovations await you on August 28 with update 2.0.0 for Destiny 2
The following features will be available to all Destiny 2 players starting August 28:
Sandbox Changes
As Bungie has already announced, numerous changes will also be made to the sandbox today. You will get a first overview in the patch notes preview.
Changes to Weapon Slots
New Slot System: The new weapon slots will already be introduced today. They will be available to all players. All important information can be found here:
In this context, a new ammunition economy is also being introduced to support the Year 2 weapon slots.
Make space in the Post Office: During this transition phase, some weapons will change their slots. All firearms that no longer fit in your inventory will be sent to the Post Office. So make sure you have a free Post Office if you want to avoid potential loss of some weapons. Year 1 slots with weapons that are being moved will remain empty until you equip another weapon.
Shifts of existing weapons: Some power weapons will become kinetic weapons in the second year. Furthermore, the elemental damage of Year 1 weapons will be finally determined. You can find more information here:
The following exotic power weapons from Year 1 will remain as exceptions in the power slot:
D.A.R.C.I.
Legend of Acrius
Tractor Cannon
Whisper of the Worm
Also important: Exotic weapons will lose their +5 power mod in preparation for Forsaken. All other legendary and exotic items will lose their +5 power mod starting September 4.
Updates for Milestones and Challenges
Today, initial changes will also be made to the weekly milestones and challenges. You can find more information here:
The extent to which these adjustments will be active today remains to be seen.
By the way: At the same time, the Navigator – that is, the planets and milestone overview – will also be adjusted. Numerous activities will be removed from the task list and instead displayed in the Navigator when they become relevant. Furthermore, the strike scoring in Nightfall is disabled until the release of Forsaken.
Heroic Story Missions
With update 2.0.0, daily heroic story missions will make their entrance into the game. You can find more information here:
It will now be possible to delete multiple shaders at once. However, the mass deletion will likely work differently than many guardians imagined. It will apparently be possible to delete shaders in batches of 5 and not the total amount of a specific shader.
Vault Expansion
The vault capacity will be increased by an additional 200 slots. Thus, the guardians will have 500 slots available in the vault.
You should also note this for update 2.0.0
As update 2.0.0 begins a transition phase to Forsaken, some things will not work as usual:
Collections are disabled: The collections of exotic weapons, armor, and emblems are being disabled with patch 2.0.0 and will return in an updated form starting September 4.
Tooltips may display incorrect descriptions: Some tooltips may not reflect the actual item behavior during the transition phase from August 28 to September 4. So don’t be surprised if some things function differently than described.
The Solstice of Heroes is coming to an end: With update 2.0.0 and the weekly reset on August 28, the celebrations surrounding the Solstice of Heroes will come to an end. However, you can still complete related tasks even after the Solstice of Heroes if you want to make your legendary Solstice armor into a masterpiece.
However, you must already possess the legendary solstice armor (radiant), as the statue of heroes is no longer present and thus the previous sets can no longer be upgraded.
The triumph moments will also end on August 28.
Destiny 2: Maintenance, Downtimes, Server Downtimes on August 28.
With update 2.0.0 for Destiny 2, maintenance works will also take place today, August 28, 2018. There will be several hours of server downtime. So if you planned a long Destiny evening, you probably won’t get your money’s worth.
Schedule of Maintenance:
6:30 PM:
Players will no longer be able to sign in to Destiny 2
Destiny companion app, equipment, and clan features will not be available on Bungie.net, mobile devices, and third-party apps during this time
6:45 PM:
Destiny 2 will go offline due to maintenance. All players will be brought back to the main screen
At this point, the Solstice of Heroes will also end. The triumph moments will no longer be available
7:00 PM:
Destiny 2 update 2.0.0 will be available on all platforms and in all regions
Destiny 2 will remain offline for maintenance – until approximately 11:00 PM
11:00 PM:
Estimated end of Destiny 2 server maintenance
Players will be able to sign back in to Destiny 2
Destiny companion, equipment, and clan features will be reactivated on Bungie.net, mobile devices, and third-party apps
Destiny 2 – Patch Notes for Update 2.0.0
Here you will find the complete English patch notes for update 2.0.0:
In Destiny 2, Bungie launched a strange lore event on Tuesday evening: Texts around Cayde-6 and Petra Venj are being published. They seem to be flirting with each other.
Strange tweet: Shortly after the launch trailer for Forsaken was released, Bungie surprised everyone with a curious tweet.
In the tweet, Bungie simply wrote:
“GAMMA//TWO//TWO//YELLOW//RUBICON High Priority Message—Outbound—5560 Amytis PETRA VENJ EYES ONLY//AMETHYST PROTOCOL”
Recommended editorial content
At this point you will find external content from Twitter that complements the article.
I consent to external content being displayed to me. Personal data can be transmitted to third party platforms.
Read more about our privacy policy.
If you follow the link in the tweet, you arrive at a message from Cayde-6 addressed to Petra Venj on the Bungie site. The message is said to be for Petra’s eyes only, as stated in the subject.
What does the message say? It is a “satisfaction survey,” where Petra is to answer how thoroughly Cayde and his six compadres captured the barons. The response options are:
With unbelievable perfection
Hymns are already being written about their triumph
So thoroughly that I finally want to admit that I’m in love with you, you hot metal man
“But seriously,” Cayde writes afterwards. “You’ve got more problems than just eight barons. And according to Mansanas’ current report, a splinter group of the Red Legion has set its sights on turning the Reef into a nice vacation spot.”
Cayde then suggests that he would like to come out to the Reef again and do some patrols. After all, he is always looking for a reason to get out of the Tower.
What’s the point of all this? Bungie likely wants to tell us that Cayde-6 and Petra had a good relationship – and at least got along well. It sounds like Cayde-6 and Petra are flirting with each other.
From previous trailers for Forsaken, it is known that Petra will help the Guardians avenge Cayde’s death. In this “lore event,” the storyline will likely explain why Petra will support the Guardians.
Is there more to come? Yes, Bungie’s DeeJ tweeted that this is an event that will unfold throughout the day. Cozmo confirmed that this is “just” web lore. Nothing will happen in the game itself; you are only allowed to read a few texts.
Response from Petra
Meanwhile, the second step of this event has arrived. Petra replied: “You must be missing me, right? If you’re looking for another excuse to dodge your Vanguard duties, I’m in.”
Additionally, there are a few cryptic sentences included in this message: “Free orbital Kelvin radiation under latent atmospheric envelope of a binomial traverse. New orbital translation reacts under frontal impact. Venusian orbit normal. Interim latency suggests Yttrium.”
There will likely be several more lore texts over the next few hours. You can keep an eye on this on the official Bungie site.
Update: In a third message, Cayde reaches out to Ikora and Zavala. He informs them that he is going back to the Reef and will stay with his old friend Petra for a few days to help her.
For several days now, players in Monster Hunter: World can fight the hard version of Behemoth from Final Fantasy XIV. A group of players managed to take down the beast in less than 5 minutes.
With its special mechanics, the Behemoth from Final Fantasy XIV breaks many rules in MHW and poses a real challenge for many players. With the release of the extreme version of the Behemoth, Capcom took this challenge to a new level. However, the Japanese players in the video have found a way to defeat the monster in just 4:23 minutes.
The team uses heavy bowguns and special ammunition that puts the Behemoth to sleep. They then bombard the monster with barrel bombs and wake it up with a very rude explosion. During the sleep state, Behemoth suffers additional damage. This tactic is called “Hame” in Japanese, derived from “hameru” (to capture).
Are you currently annoyed by Steam sending you Monster Hunter World notifications? Here’s how to turn them off:
With a little trick, world quests in WoW: Battle for Azeroth are very easy when it comes to pet battles. We will tell you how you can complete them easily.
World quests are the best way to quickly gain reputation with the new factions of Battle for Azeroth in World of Warcraft. However, few players can get used to pet battles, even though these world quests also provide a lot of reputation. Those who don’t own a strong team of pets can now breathe easy – with a little trick, these quests are no longer a problem!
Pet battles scale: The world quests involving pet battles scale with the level of your own pets. If you want to complete a quest, simply choose a complete team of pets that are at level 1. Many quests are thus very easy, as opponents often have only one ability and this usually has a long cooldown. Thus, they are vulnerable to the attacks of your pets.
The level of opponents always corresponds to your strongest pet in the team. If one pet is level 3 and the others are level 1, then all enemy pets will be level 3.
What do the world quests bring? In Battle for Azeroth, the rewards from world quests that include pet battles are truly worthwhile for the first time. The missions grant just as much reputation as other quests in the area, making them a valuable contribution to quickly becoming respected or even reverent with the important factions. In addition to pet rewards, there is often artifact power for the Heart of Azeroth.
Boss fights are excluded: This trick only works against pet trainers – that is, NPCs who battle with three pets themselves. Certain boss opponents that appear alone are excluded from this. They are always level 25 and therefore require a strong team to be defeated.
This is also the perfect opportunity for those who have so far shunned pet battles to get into this system. Because by completing the quests, your pets will gradually level up.
Are you grabbing the rewards from the “Pet Battle” world quests? Or is that nothing for you?

Fortnite: Battle Royale (PC, PS4, iOS, Android, Switch & Xbox One) offers you a unique skin on Samsung’s expensive Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy Tab S4: the Galaxy Skin. However, some players have creatively found a way to access the skin without a high-end smartphone.
The Galaxy Skin in Fortnite is likely one of the most sought-after outfits in the game. Only those who install the game on an Android smartphone of the Galaxy Note 9 or Galaxy Tab S4 brand and play three matches will receive the skin.
Demo Devices as a Source
This is how clever players want to get the Galaxy Skin for free: However, not everyone wants to buy Samsung’s new flagship smartphone – it costs about 1,000 euros – so savvy players have found a way to obtain the skin without spending a cent.
They simply go into an electronics store, install Fortnite on the demo devices of the type Galaxy Note 9 and play the mandatory three rounds. A few hours later, they had unlocked their skin on their account without paying a cent.
Dangerous download:According to reports on Reddit, some players actually got away with it. It requires quite a bit of skill: after all, downloading several gigabytes takes a considerable amount of time, and then you still have to play through three games.
The risk is high. Because you can be thrown out by an employee during that time. Then the sensitive login data of the Epic account is accessible to anyone on a public demo device.
Samsung Imposes a Block, Players Find Ways Around It
This is how Samsung wants to prevent the skin from being obtained for free: Naturally, it is not in Samsung’s interest for people to easily acquire their 1,000-euro skin, so demo devices are now equipped with a block. You cannot download games.
Fortnite prohibited!
This is how clever players still manage: However, some players have already circumvented this by simply creating a hotspot with their private phone and bypassing the store’s Wi-Fi block. This way, they seem to have been able to download and play the game anyway.
For some, the block appeared to be embedded directly in the device rather than via the Wi-Fi. So far, no solution has been found for that.
Please do not steal free codes!
Honest customers are angry! The action with the obtained Samsung skins may seem funny to many, but unfortunately, sometimes it is the honest customers who are the victims.
The trailer begins with a reflection on Cayde’s death. The Vanguard mourns what has happened. The atmosphere is bleak and filled with sorrow. We also learn Cayde’s last words. He asks Uldren Sov: “How is your sister?” Mara Sov, the Queen of the Awoken, has been missing for two years.
Then we see Uldren speaking to the Barons – they are to spread chaos.
Revenge for Cayde-6: Ikora and Zavala discuss revenge for Cayde-6. Zavala emphasizes that they do not have an army at their disposal, but Ikora insists on avenging Cayde.
Then the Guardian speaks (that’s us) – who has so far remained silent in Destiny 2: “Uldren Sov is mine.” By the way, this is the top topic in the comments under the video. People are excited that their character finally gets a voice.
We still see that Uldren wants to seize the Light; he seeks the shard of the Traveler. And finally, there is the announcement that the Guardians are to storm the Reef. All. Every Titan, every Warlock, every Hunter.
According to Bungie, Forsaken will be the largest Destiny expansion yet. In addition to new game modes, new enemies, and fresh loot, the story continues to follow the Guardians, leading them this time into the Reef and the endgame zone “Dreaming City”.
Bungie already revealed in previous trailers the death of an important character in Forsaken: the death of Cayde-6. Your task will now be to avenge Cayde-6. The embedded launch trailer should already put you in the right mood for it.
Here is the launch trailer in the original English:

The Forsaken expansion will be released on September 4, 2018, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Already today, on August 28th, in the evening hours, Update 2.0.0 will be deployed, which already introduces some new features and prepares for the Forsaken release.
Since Update 2.0.0 is associated with several hours of maintenance, you will have plenty of time tonight to watch the launch trailer over and over again. Enjoy!
Everything you need to know about Forsaken can be found here in the overview:
For September, The Elder Scrolls Online (PC, PS4, Xbox One) promises the strongest login rewards yet. In addition to 100,000 gold, there is a costume and 2 especially popular crown crates.
In August 2018, ESO players were lured into the game with strong login rewards. A total of 11 crown crates were available to grab. Players suspected that the many crates had something to do with the release of the WoW expansion Battle for Azeroth.
There is more to come: The almost legendary August was, in the eyes of the players, hard to top. But Zenimax has rolled out the big guns in September. Players have the opportunity to grab 100,000 gold.
How do I get the gold? To do this, you need to log in every day for 28 days of the next month and collect your reward. The goal of 28 days is quite tight. If you miss the daily login rewards more than twice, your chance for the 100,000 gold is gone.
Pacrooti is, as always, helping you open the crown crates.
What else is there? But besides the gold, Zenimax also lures players with other rewards.
On the 21st day of the September rewards, all players receive a special costume.
Additionally, 2 crown crates of the Wild Hunt await players on the 7th day.
And they receive 3 scrolls of learning with 150% more experience on the 14th day.
With the Scalecroft jacket, you can dress stylishly.
According to Zenimax, September is thus the strongest month since the login rewards began.
How do the login rewards work? With ESO: Summerset daily login rewards were introduced. Players have the opportunity to collect a login reward every day. If you forget to log in, you will instead receive the rewards from the previous day.
Top month follows top month: Players find the login rewards great. The 100,000 gold is practical for all players who haven’t accumulated much gold. But rich players also benefit. With the 100,000 gold, for example, the wish for a home can be fulfilled.
Additionally, players are excited about the return of the crown crates of the Wild Hunt. The rewards contained within, especially the mounts, are desired by some players.
At gamescom, we had the opportunity to talk with Steven Sharif and lead designer Jeffrey Bard from Intrepid Studios about their upcoming MMORPG Ashes of Creation.
In the first part of our interview, we discuss how the subscription MMORPG Ashes of Creation aims to avoid the mistakes of the canceled MMORPG Everquest Next. After all, Jeff Bard also worked as a game designer on Everquest Next.
The team wants to do better than Everquest Next
Steven Sharif in conversation with Dawid Hallmann from Mein-MMO.de
Everquest Next was overly ambitious: According to Jeff Bard, Daybreak Games wanted to achieve too much with Everquest Next, and ultimately it failed due to technology. They simply lacked the technology to implement the ambitious ideas.
Therefore, an extremely large amount of work was put into the development of this technology. This, in turn, led to delays and made the project increasingly expensive.
Ashes of Creation has a key advantage: Even with Ashes of Creation, the developers pursue complex ideas. However, they have approached this in a different way. Incrementally and with the understanding that they can actually implement them. Furthermore, Ashes of Creation has the advantage of being able to rely on an existing engine. The Unreal Engine 4 is used. With Everquest Next, everything had to be developed from scratch.
The ideas the team has are grounded in technologies that actually exist, allowing the features to be implemented. Thus, the development of Ashes of Creation, according to studio founder Steven Sharif and Jeffrey Bard, progresses differently than with Everquest Next.
An MMORPG for the community, developed with the players
Ashes of Creation is developed together with the community: The developers also explained in the conversation that they are developing Ashes of Creation not only for the players who will receive a vast world to explore, but that they want to create the MMORPG together with the community. The ideas and feedback from fans are important. They do not want to develop past the community like Bungie did with Destiny 2.
A classic MMO in modern attire: Ashes of Creation will build on a traditional MMORPG foundation known to genre fans. And on that, the developers will implement new systems based on innovative ideas. 10,000 players per server will encounter each other in a huge open game world. PvE, PvP, and crafting are important. Here, the new node system will be implemented, which makes the game something special.
You’ll learn more about the node system in another part of our conversation with the creators of Ashes of Creation.
A RPG in virtual reality is still a dream for many fans of Sword Art Online. With Nostos, this dream could finally become a reality.
Since the anime series Sword Art Online, the desire of players to immerse themselves fully in a world has grown significantly. With the emerging VR technology, this wish is becoming tangible. However, so far all hopeful contenders have turned out to be disappointments or PR stunts – but now Nostos is coming.
At Gamescom 2018, the VR RPG Nostos was introduced, which is sure to thrill fans.
What is Nostos? Nostos is a VR RPG developed by the giant Chinese corporation NetEase and was first extensively showcased at Gamescom 2018. The game also supports SpatialOS, the wondrous technology from Improbable.
These two companies are currently working on the future of MMORPGs.
But this future of MMORPGs is still far away. Currently, it is the collaboration Nostos that arises from it. Alongside a playable demo on-site, there was also a nice trailer to enjoy, which you can watch here:

The graphics in the cel-shaded look remind many players of the latest Zelda installment (Breath of the Wild) or various representatives of the “Tales of” series (such as Tales of Berseria). Big round eyes, powerful weapons, and vibrant colors in anime style are sure to please all Japan fans.
How is the gameplay? In Nostos, players roam an open, post-apocalyptic game world and must search in the ruins of civilization for a way to rescue the remaining survivors. Resources must also be gathered and camps constructed, as many creatures in the world are hostile. There are also “survival aspects,” which will probably come in typical RPG fashion.
Whether there will be a classic quest system is still unknown. The developers are still discussing it. A completely free exploration of the world without a proper “end” would also be possible.
Not Sword Art Online: As “real” as Sword Art Online is Nostos not. After all, it will not be a pure VR MMORPG, but “only” a VR RPG with a multiplayer mode. In the demo, up to four players could play together. How many will be in the finished game is still uncertain. However, teaming up with hundreds of players to embark on adventures seems rather unlikely.
In summary, Nostos will probably not be the desired “Sword Art Online” VR MMO – but it could be a first step in a good direction and a worthwhile game in the otherwise rather mixed VR market.
A specific release date for Nostos is still pending. So far, only “2019” has been stated.
At Gamescom 2018, Jürgen was able to try out the pirate MMO Skull and Bones and talk to the developers from Ubisoft. There, they revealed how Skull and Bones aims to avoid the sad fate of Sea of Thieves.
This is how Skull and Bones plays: I have been waiting a long time for an opportunity to play the pirate epic Skull and Bones myself, and at Gamescom 2018, it was finally time. And I was not disappointed. The naval battles are fast, dynamic, and action-packed.
The tragic fate of Sea of Thieves: However, during the wild naval battles, I always had the fate of Sea of Thieves in mind. Here too, it was about pirates, and the game made a great first impression. But then it quickly sank and was lost in the deep sea of irrelevance due to a lack of content and massive griefing – at least for the time being.
At Gamescom, I was able to play the pirate MMO live.
When I finally had the opportunity to speak with Justin Farren, the Creative Director of Ubisoft Singapore, I had a few burning questions on my mind.
The features of Skull and Bones
Mein-MMO: “How do you want to keep the game feeling fresh and prevent it from ending up like Sea of Thieves?”
Justin: “Players need a strong motivation; they don’t want to be bored. They have to be engaged in a motivating progression. They need social interaction opportunities, and they need us as developers to tackle toxic behavior.
In that area, some players are surprisingly creative, as seen with griefing in the Dark Zone of The Division. Fortunately, we at Ubisoft can coordinate with other internal teams and draw on their experience in dealing with griefers.”
Skull and Bones will offer Seasons
Mein-MMO: “Is there any kind of road map or plan for how you will continue the game after release?”
Justin: “Skull and Bones will be a ‘Live Service Game’ [a game that continues to be developed and updated]. We will develop it in the context of ‘Seasons’. In each Season, there will be new content, new challenges, and new regions for you to experience.
Many online games are going this route nowadays to keep players engaged. So we will constantly have new things, including cosmetics for captains and ships. Additionally, there will be a progressing timeline, meaning the scenario in the game world will evolve.
There will also likely be certain rewards and items that you can only earn in a specific Season and will never be available again. For example, if we featuring a legendary NPC pirate in a Season. Whoever manages to defeat them might receive a cosmetic item that no one else has.”
How will they prevent griefing?
Mein-MMO: “Players can spontaneously form groups in the open world, but they can also betray each other and stab each other in the back. This is very ‘pirate-like’, but how do you want to prevent griefing?”
Justin: “We definitely have to assume from the start that toxic behavior exists. We cannot pretend it doesn’t. Therefore, we need to provide players with systems that give them a sense of trust among their group members.
In our demo video from E3, it comes across that you can betray and backstab at any time. However, in the game, we want to ensure that you don’t just join a group to be ambushed shortly after.
That doesn’t sound like a fair encounter. We will therefore give players the ability to determine how groups operate and not force them into unfair situations.”
Mein-MMO: “Ah, so something like a cooldown period that is triggered when you want to break up the group and during which you are still invulnerable?”
Justin: “Exactly something like that! We want to incorporate betrayal and treachery as a positive part of the game that can be enjoyable. As a fun PvP element. Not as an expression of toxic player behavior to which one is helplessly exposed.”
The possibilities of the harbor
Mein-MMO: “Will you always be stuck to the ship or will you also be able to go ashore?”
Justin: “In our demo here, you can only stand at the helm of your ship. But in the release version, we will have a fully buildable pirate hideout. There, you can walk freely and visit places like taverns, weapon shops, and shipwrights.
Here, you will be able to make changes to your ships and pirate captain, customize your crew, and do many other things. You can walk around freely on foot and check everything out here.”
Mein-MMO: “You could also incorporate mini-games like sword fights or drinking games into this pirate hideout?”
Justin: “We want to integrate the hideout as a meaningful element into the game and continue to expand it with features and functions. Who knows what else is to come?”

Mein-MMO: “Skull and Bones originally came from Assassin’s Creed, so it would surely also be possible to implement features from this game?”
Justin: “We work closely with other Ubisoft studios to learn from them. About 60 percent of our team has worked on the Assassin’s Creed franchise. So we can draw on a lot of internal know-how.”
Mein-MMO: “Will there actually be a story?”
Justin: “We do not have an offline single-player campaign, but there will be specific places, people, and events that will play a role over the course of the Seasons.”
Jürgen’s conclusion – Hopefully, more will come
This will determine the success of Skull and Bones: If Skull and Bones is to work as a pirate MMO, then it needs to have regular content. Otherwise, the raids on the open ocean will surely become dull and boring quickly.
The developers’ plans for regularly new Seasons sound promising, as long as they bring variety each time and do not take too long to arrive.
I am positively impressed by the apparently close collaboration of the various Ubisoft studios. This way, the combined know-how of the Assassin’s Creed and For Honor teams can be drawn upon, and possibly even further game modes like sword fights or stealth missions in enemy ports can be incorporated. That’s just part of a pirate game.
But those are probably still dreams for the future for Skull and Bones.
References to Generation 4 have been removed from the code of Pokémon GO. Instead, there are these new quests in the game’s code.
Dataminer has news: In the code of Pokémon GO, dataminer Chrales found hints about new research. These could be for the Safari Zone in Japan or future Community Days.
A direct reference to the fourth generation has since been removed from the code again. A break in the hype of the community.
Gen 4 hints were briefly there, now they’re gone again
Recently, the following lines related to Generation 4 were found in the code of Pokémon GO:
This caused some players to hype since Sinnoh is the region of Generation 4. The discovery of these code snippets meant for many trainers that a release of Gen 4 is imminent. Hopes were high. Many trainers were already counting on a soon release. Also, because a Gen 4 leak drew attention at the end of July.
Niantic dampens hope: The code has now been removed from the game again. It apparently was released too early.
Now we only know that Niantic is working on Generation 4. Many players have assumed this for a while. However, when the release will come is still unclear. The hope that Gen 4 with new Pokémon is already around the corner has now been dampened.
New Quests in Pokémon GO
Safari Zone in Japan: On August 29, the Safari Zone in Japan begins and runs until Sunday, September 2, Japan time. For this event, Niantic has apparently incorporated new quests into the game. A task line with Professor Willow is also included.
In Yokosuka (Japan), players are to solve a few Safari quests for the professor and will be rewarded with Stardust. This fits well because for completing the worldwide tasks, we will also be rewarded with Stardust bonuses later.
New Field Research: As reported by Chrales, the following quests are now in the network traffic of Pokémon GO. However, it is unclear whether they are related to the Safari Zone.

Catch X Bummelz

Fortnite has received a new patch. In Update 5.3, however, there isn’t much new: Highlights include the mode “Pure Gold” and the new weapon “Shockwave Grenade.”
The highlights of Update 5.3: The new update for “Battle Royale” and “Save the World” is unfortunately not particularly abundant. It mainly brings new game modes and a new item, which is not a proper weapon:
New Item – Shockwave Grenade: This bomb has an epic rarity. It pushes players away like a Shock Grenade. Additionally, it deals damage when it collides with someone. You are immune to fall damage.
Limited-Time Game Mode – Pure Gold: In this mode, there are ONLY golden, i.e. legendary, items to find. This allows for new tactics and the game is practically in endgame mode from minute 1, as nobody has to upgrade for long. This time, the mode is also available in a 50vs50 format. This should ensure truly epic battles.

The PvE mode “Save the World” is also getting something new:
Horde Challenge Week 4: Build defensive bases and bring along a lot of ammunition, because in this week’s challenge traps will not be triggered. As a reward, you will receive the legendary Marauder Hero “Riptide Ramirez”.
Mystic Ninja “Blade Storm Wraith”: This new ninja will be available on August 30 at 02:00 AM. He has new abilities and perks. He also resembles the Wraith skin from Battle Royale mode.
Additionally, there were a bunch of smaller bug fixes and adjustments.
When does the update come? It is already here; there was no downtime.
What do the updates promise?
Update 5.3 – Small but nice? Even though Update 5.3 is overall rather meager, the new 50vs50 mode should hit hard and the Shockwave Grenade should certainly secure some cool kills in the hands of professionals.
And the new Horde Challenge in PvE should also be a tough nut to crack, thanks to the omission of traps.
Dice has incurred some community backlash with a screenshot of the online shooter Star Wars Battlefront 2. The situation is referred to as “Droidekagate.”
In a new screenshot of the online shooter Star Wars Battlefront 2, attentive fans have spotted a Droideka and hoped that these robots would be introduced in the game. However, when DICE denied this, it led to heavy criticism.
A Droideka causes a small uproar
Droideka teased in the screenshot: DICE is currently working on the “Elite Corps” update for Star Wars Battlefront 2. This is set to release on August 29. The developers released a screenshot as a teaser. Naturally, fans paid close attention and spotted a Droideka in the background.
Droidekas first appeared in the film Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, posing a challenge to the Jedi Knights. Since Droidekas were also included in Star Wars Battlefront II from 2005 and were very popular among players as a playable class, there was hope that DICE would also introduce the robots into the current game and make them playable.
DICE denies Droidekas: However, DICE initially denied that it was even a Droideka. It was just “debris” in the background. But a zoom on the spot in the screenshot clearly shows that it is a Droideka. DICE then acknowledged this, but stated that it was an unused static asset from the game that somehow made its way into this image.
The Droidekas were once planned but were scrapped, so they don’t even have animations, let alone a UI or abilities.
Fans are disappointed: Consequently, players of Star Wars Battlefront 2 expressed significant disappointment. The future of the game has now become less interesting. It is highly unprofessional to generate such hype initially, only to then provide a massive disappointment. The criticism has been quite harsh, and fans are now referring to the situation as “Droideka-gate.” It is not just about the Droideka itself, but about the communication with fans, which leaves much to be desired.
