How Call of Duty Blackout Differs from Fortnite: Battle Royale
Battle Royale without a building mode: Unlike Fortnite, you cannot (or must not) build giant structures to defend yourself. You face your opponents face-to-face. Call of Duty also differs in several key areas from the industry leader:
In Call of Duty Blackout, you cannot hide in bushes. These cannot be traversed. Many players in Fortnite get annoyed by these “bush campers.”
However, you can lie flat on the ground and lie in wait like in PUBG. In my experience, opponents are still quite visible this way.
Jumping and flying low is much smoother than in Fortnite. Parachuting is also much faster. In Call of Duty Blackout, you’re right in the middle of the action. Conveniently, on the right side you can see how close you are to the ground and at what speed you are approaching your target.
In Call of Duty Blackout, even zombies can cross your path, dropping some iconic weapons like the Ray Gun, but they can take a hit and deal considerable damage. This relatively limited PvE component is not provided by Fortnite.
Call of Duty Blackout is Already Technically High-Level
Despite beta status, technically solid: Admittedly, I noticed match interruptions and occasional frame drops. However, this is mainly due to the beta status. Treyarch will hopefully resolve these issues by the launch.
What does not quite work yet is the time you have to wait just before a round starts. Fortnite resolves this (yet) much faster. I had to wait up to three minutes before a round finally started. The simple and quick re-entry after a loss is an essential feature that Treyarch still needs to improve.
The Loot and Equipment in Call of Duty Blackout
Call of Duty offers a wide selection of weapons that you already know from earlier installments. There is something for everyone, whether close or long-range weapons.
In addition, you can find a variety of useful items:
Armor that reduces damage taken and can be found in various effectiveness levels.
Healing items like bandages, medkits, and trauma kits ensure that you can heal yourself after a fight. With the trauma kit, you can even achieve an overheal, which means reaching health points above the maximum. Healing itself is quite simple: you use the equipped item by pressing a button. Depending on the item, healing takes a few seconds less or longer.
Familiar support items from past Call of Duty games, like the R/C car and the exploding monkey, are also part of the game. A wide array of different grenades can also be found.
The looting process itself is too cumbersome: You pick up items by holding the square button (PS4) for a certain amount of time. This is particularly cumbersome and annoying in the heat of battle. Treyarch justifies this by saying that players do not accidentally pick up items while reloading their weapon.
The problem with that: In Fortnite, you can pick up items and reload weapons with the same button, which is only problematic in very few situations. I don’t see why it should be a problem in Call of Duty.
You also do not automatically pick up ammunition; it must be actively collected. I think Fortnite handles this more elegantly (ammunition is automatically collected).
Conclusion – If Treyarch Does It Right, the Competition Can Get Ready
Aside from the existing shortcomings due to the beta status, the battle royale mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 makes a very good impression. The battles are fast-paced, and the available arsenal allows for various play styles. The areas are beautifully crafted and reference the settings of past Call of Duty installments.
What is really annoying is the way equipment and ammunition are picked up. However, Treyarch has already confirmed that they address this issue and will present a more elegant solution.
Clear signal to the competition: Call of Duty Blackout will likely not be the Fortnite killer; the battle royale shooter is too well established in the market and still has the advantage of being free to play. However, competitors like PUBG or H1Z1 could come under pressure if Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 sees appropriate success.
It will be exciting to see whether Activision and Treyarch can manage to keep players engaged even after the release.

How do I start the cleansing ritual? The cleansing ritual consists of queen’s bounties. To obtain them, you need to complete the weekly bounties with Petra, including “Audience with the Queen”. This is a rather detailed bounty, and we explain its steps in the link.
In this article, we present two quests of the cleansing ritual:
Defeat sword-wielding knights in the Ascendant Challenge while you are ascendant

How to kill the knights in the Ascendant Challenge in Destiny 2
The requirement for the cleansing ritual: First, look for a consumable item called “Queen’s Leaf Tincture.” This item opens your mind to the secrets of the Dreaming City for 30 minutes – you will be “ascendant.”
The tincture can be randomly found in all sorts of chests you find in the city.
How to enter the Ascendant Realm: Head to Petra Venj. Now go into the Lost Sector that is directly next to Petra. When you activate the tincture, a portal will open at the end of the Lost Sector that teleports you into the Ascendant World.

How does the cleansing ritual with the knights work? While you should destroy crystals protected by knights during the Ascendant Challenge, for the cleansing ritual, you need to focus solely on the knights. Find a safe spot and shoot the knights with a strong sniper, like the Whisper of the Worm, from a distance.
The knights can take a lot of damage and have an enormous power level, which is why it’s best not to go alone into the Ascendant World but to bring friends. Andy Edition shows you in the video a good spot from which you can shoot the knights without disturbance:

Stay to the left from the starting point until you hit a tree. Jump onto the tree and from there onto the roof, where the knights cannot reach you. Make sure you have enough ammo for the sniper, set a strengthening Rift (Warlock, increased weapon damage) or a Barricade (Titan, gives you temporarily infinite ammo).
Now, kill one knight after another, all of whom spawn in the middle of the Ascendant World. You need a total of 4 knights, regardless of whether you leave the Ascendant World in the meantime. Each kill counts and won’t reset. But be careful, if you take too long with a knight, it will teleport away and regenerate. So try to defeat it as quickly as possible. High power levels are recommended.
The reward: Once that’s done, you will receive Dark Fragments, Baryon Stems, Legendary Gear, and a Cosmic Blessing (Armor Mod).

What does the video show? The GameSpot video showcases the most intense match scenes from the perspective of a player who engages in a four-player group format – that is, in a squad of four – as they go into battle. In the end, the team manages to secure the overall victory.
The latest patch of Fortnite: Battle Royale (PC, PS4, iOS, Android, Switch & Xbox One) has brought a new weapon into the game, but one other gun had to go. This was the extremely popular Drum Gun. Fans are not happy and want the drum rifle back.
What was so good about the Drum Gun? The drum rifle, in English “Drum Gun”, was one of the weapons in Fortnite that immediately captured the hearts of many players. The compact gun was extremely effective at close to medium ranges, dealt considerable damage due to its good rate of fire, and could fire long with the 50-round magazine. It was virtually indispensable.
The previously common assault rifle as an all-round weapon became unnecessary if you had a Drum Gun. And in close combat, at most the controversial P90 or the shotgun as a double pump was an equal choice.
Drum Gun and the “Spray Meta”
With all its advantages, the drum rifle was very popular among players. Besides the P90, this weapon was crucial for the current meta gameplay in Fortnite. This is called “Spray” and is designed to advance aggressively with rapid-fire weapons and shred the opponent.
Drum Gun was too strong: As the drum rifle was so strong and displaced other weapons, it was probably removed in patch 5.4. For sprayers, the P90 remains, which, however, mainly excels at short distances.
New meta planned? With the new suppressed assault rifle, an assault rifle was deliberately brought back into the game, which appeals more to campers and tactical players than to hyper-mobile “sprayers”. Epic seemingly aims to intentionally change the meta.
Players are angry, want Drum Gun back
As always, when a popular weapon is nerfed or even removed, players’ discontent runs high. Since the weapon was so good, it is missed by many fans. While opponents of the spray meta welcome Epic’s decision, many players are angry.

The significance for FUT 19: For the Ultimate Team mode, the player ratings determined by EA at the FIFA 19 release are especially interesting, as these are applied to the standard player cards. This is why many fans eagerly look forward to the ratings of the best players and the stats of their favorite players in FIFA 19. After all, they will spend a lot of time in the game with these players.
Long have fans waited for the announcement of the Ultra Bonus in Pokémon GO. When the bonuses were revealed, players were disappointed.
What happened? After weeks of waiting, Niantic finally announced on September 10 what Ultra Bonus they would unlock for trainers. This bonus was earned by players through global challenges during the summer. But the result leaves many cold.
Why are players dissatisfied? Part of the bonus is that Mewtwo will be catchable for all trainers. This monster is actually exclusively tied to EX Raids, which players must qualify for. Many find it silly that now any trainer can catch a Mewtwo without any special qualification.
Mewtwo is special: In August 2017, Niantic announced that Mewtwo would now appear in EX Raids in Pokémon GO. At that time, EX Raids were still new.
“EX” stands for exclusive. This means in this context that only trainers who are invited can participate in EX Raids. The chance of getting an invitation is given when battling normal raids at qualifying gyms.
However, one must also be present on a specific day during a specific time window to participate in the EX Raid battle. Because an invitation is valid for a specific day and expires afterwards.
Many still without Mewtwo: As of September 2018, there are still many trainers without Mewtwo. They have not yet qualified for an EX Raid or were unable to catch Mewtwo after the battle. Because EX Raids are a special feature, Mewtwo is still considered a rare monster.
Players with Mewtwo are upset: The disappointment of the Ultra Bonus is now great among many trainers who already have a Mewtwo in their collection. They say, “I thought it was supposed to be a special, exclusive Pokémon. Now everyone can get it.”
Hard work wasted? Some took extra vacation from work and invested a lot of time in obtaining a Mewtwo in an EX Raid. Now they say that this time was wasted if Mewtwo “is going to be available for everyone someday anyway.” For them, Mewtwo is no longer the special Pokémon it once was due to the Ultra Bonus.
What could Niantic do for the disappointed players?
On Twitter and other social networks, trainers are demanding that Niantic release Mewtwo in its Shiny form. The Shiny form gives Pokémon visual changes, making them special. Shiny Mewtwo has not been in the game before. This would also be a bonus for trainers who have already caught Mewtwo.

Another part of the Ultra Bonus is that the legendary birds Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos will return to Pokémon GO once again. They have already been in raid battles, had a special event day each in the summer of 2018, and will now appear again for a week in raids.
Why trainers are disappointed: These legendary birds have often been in raids of Pokémon GO. They were not exclusive like Mewtwo, but could be battled by all trainers in raids. Since a large part of the trainers already have these Pokémon in their collection, they find this bonus boring.
As another reward, the Ultra Bonus brings regional Pokémon into the 7 KM eggs. Currently, only Alola monsters are in there, which will soon share the space with some regional monsters. These are Kangaskhan, Tauros, Farfetch’d, and Mr. Mime.
Here is some positive feedback: Many trainers are happy about the regional monsters. It seems that this bonus is the least criticized. Regional monsters actually only appear in certain regions. Sometimes they appear at events. The fact that everyone now has the chance for these rare creatures makes trainers happy. They can easily complete their PokéDex. And that even as a rural player who has to manage without raids.
Crux – The Rural Players
These rewards are always problematic for rural players. There are few players and few gyms in the countryside. Accordingly, raids are less frequent there, often not enough players to help.
Why are rural players disappointed? They have to travel to the nearest town to participate in a raid for Mewtwo, Zapdos, Articuno, or Moltres. This assumes extra effort again.
Open Gym
It’s worth it though: For a Mewtwo, many players are willing to make the trip to the next city. They coordinate in groups with city players about when the raids start and are then present at the start time.
Others find it annoying because the trip to the next gym is simply too far for them. However, this has little to do with this Ultra Bonus but is a fundamental problem in Pokémon GO. Players in rural areas have had fewer opportunities to fully utilize the features of Pokémon GO since the beginning.
Joy over the eggs: The regional Pokémon from eggs are good for rural players because just through the friends feature, one can quickly get to the 7 KM eggs.
What happens next?
In the coming days and weeks, players can take advantage of the Ultra Bonus. Mewtwo, Zapdos, Articuno, and Moltres can be found during their time periods in raids, and the regional Pokémon will soon hatch from the 7 KM eggs.
New EX Raid Boss? Possibly, the global release of Mewtwo means that a new monster will appear as an EX Raid boss after that. Which one it will be is still unclear.
