Just over a month has passed since the Destiny 2 expansion Forsaken was released and the curse in the Dreaming City has begun anew. Unlike the usual Weekly Reset, the city’s cycle is explained through the story.
The three-week cycle of the Dreaming City has been reset this week. The city now looks as it did before the first victory against the final boss of the raid “Last Wish”. Unlike the Weekly Reset, however, the repetition of tasks in the Dreaming City is incorporated into the Forsaken story.
Reset has strange effects
What is going on with the Dreaming City? The Dreaming City of the Awoken is in a three-week cycle. Each week, the city’s corruption by the Taken increases, only to recede again and start anew.
What effects does the reset have? The city now looks as it did at the beginning – before the curse was pronounced. A beautiful fantasy world, where the Taken only appear sporadically.
The greatest effect of the reset, however, is on the NPCs: Petra Venj is back on the beach, but remembers that we fought the Taken and the city now looks like it did three weeks ago.
Characters in missions comment that they knew exactly what would happen. However, they couldn’t act differently than they did three weeks ago.
Reset as part of the story
How cleverly is the cycle explained? Bungie has incorporated the reset into the main story this time. If you are not done with Forsaken yet or do not want to learn about the endgame, you should not read any further!
The story of the Dreaming City is closely intertwined with the lore. In short, here’s what happened:
Riven was kept by Mara Sov as a “pet” in the Dreaming City. Before the Guardians could defeat Oryx in the Destiny 1 expansion The Taken King, he sneaked into the city of the Awoken and corrupted Riven.
After Oryx’s death, his sister Savathûn took control of Riven. In exchange for her freedom – death by the Guardians – Riven fulfilled one last wish and cursed the Dreaming City.
What’s the deal with the curse and the cycle? Savathûn, like all members of the Hive, follows the religious principle of Sword Logic. The Sword Logic adheres to the law of the strongest, but for the Hive, it’s an extreme: The Hive eliminate those who cannot defend themselves and feed on their subordinates.
Savathûn, the Deceiver, is now using the curse of the city to strengthen herself: In the three weeks, her Taken either take over the Dreaming City, leading to death and destruction, or the Guardians fight the Taken, also leading to death and destruction. No matter what we do, Savathûn will always grow stronger.
By the way, the three-week cycle was conceived by Savathûn’s daughter Dûl Incaru together with the Vex Axis Mind Quria. Quria was manifested by the Vex to study Oryx but was corrupted by the King of the Taken.
Players assume that Dûl Incaru must be defeated to break the curse and free the Dreaming City.

The evil clone of the good Bomber: The Dark Bomber, however, is the evil twin sister of the Bright Bomber. The Dark Bomber first appeared in the final image of Season 5, where the Bright Bomber touched the purple cube. Instead of her reflection, viewers saw the sinisterly grinning Dark Bomber as a sort of evil clone in the cube.
Theories about the Dark Bomber: Fans speculated back then that the “Evil Bright Bomber” would become a new skin. They considered various options, including a variant of the good Bomber that could be unlocked in special challenges. Perhaps even for Halloween and then for several well-known skins.
In the end, nothing came of it; the “Dark Bomber” is simply another skin from the shop.
Dark Bomber in the Shop – Cheaper than Expected
Rare instead of Legendary: The disappointment that the Dark Bomber is not tied to a cool event may be somewhat mitigated when considering her price.
Because just like her good twin sister, the Dark Bomber is merely a skin of the “Rare” quality level. Therefore, it costs “only” 1,200 V-Bucks, which is about 12 Euros.
Epic mostly sells new skins, especially elaborate ones like the Dark Bomber, for at least 15, if not 20 Euros!
Is there more? Indeed, because Epic has granted the Dark Bomber a whole set of items:
Whoever buys the skin gets a matching backpack. It looks like an evil version of the backpack of the Bright Bomber.
The Dark Bomber can get a matching pickaxe called “Thunderhoof” for another 1,200 V-Bucks. It is an evil version of the llama head that the Bright Bomber swings.
If they still want, they can get the relatively boring glider “Glyph of Darkness” to complete the set. The glider is just a generic glider with dark glyphs on it. It costs 500 V-Bucks (5 Euros).
Will there be more “Evil Skins”? Officially, we don’t know anything, but one can assume that at least the “Color Gunner”, the male version of the Bright Bomber, will get an evil twin. He will likely be called “Dark Gunner” in keeping with tradition.

Spawn rate for the Ascendant Primeval in Gambit is set to be buffed
Over the past week, Bungie has faced a lot of criticism for the spawn rate of the Ascendant Servitor in Gambit. Many Guardians are frustrated.
The problem: Players can only obtain the quest for the exotic hand cannon service violation by defeating this Gambit boss. The solution: The developers have made some adjustments. In Fortnite: Battle Royale, sticky grenades are usually deadly. However, there seems to be a trick to survive the lethal grenade without a scratch.
What are sticky grenades? Unlike the shock grenade, which is mainly intended to throw enemies out of cover, sticky grenades are deadly devices. When thrown at an opponent, they stick there and explode after a short time.
The damage exceeds 100 points, which kills any opponent without shields immediately. Thus, the sticky grenade is a death sentence, and if it’s stuck to your body, you are doomed. You can’t get rid of it. At least, that’s what one thought until a player found a solution.
How to survive the sticky grenade and get rid of it
On Reddit, the user mrCodebot posted a GIF showing how to disarm the sticky grenade. The player “Cute Entity” gets hit sneakily by a sticky grenade.
Player avoids death by grenade: Like a startled chicken, he runs around panicked, unwilling to accept his certain death. He has no shields, and the grenade would definitely kill him.
Pyramid as cover: Whether intentionally or by chance, Cute Entity eventually builds a pyramid in the room. He anxiously hides behind it, and the grenade goes off! But miraculously, Cute Entity emerges unscathed.
How did the player survive the grenade explosion? If you look closely at the embedded video from Reddit, you’ll notice that the grenade is hovering somewhat away from the player in midair.
And the pyramid, where Cute Entity is taking cover, had its walls exactly between the bomb and the player. As usual in Fortnite, walls negate explosions and protect anyone behind them.
Thus, this spatial separation of target and grenade by the pyramid made the explosion harmless.
Bug, exploit or feature?
Is this trick legitimate? Indeed, it is unclear whether the grenade disarming is a legitimate means against sticky grenades. Most likely, Epic did not intend for the bombs to be negated like this.
It will remain to be seen whether Epic will nerf this measure soon or keep it in the game.
