Despite my casual 25 years of gaming experience, most of which I spent on consoles, I suddenly felt like a helpless idiot. I want to share this experience with you and help ensure you don’t have to go through what I did.

This was the specific situation of my failure: In Destiny 2 a cool mission surprisingly went live: It’s quite difficult and designed for team play, but it offers no automatic player search. The clan roster was empty late at night, so I grabbed the official Destiny app, because it has a useful LFG tool (Looking for Group).

This guide is about a more compact and smaller base that can also be built quickly by beginners and is well secured at the same time.

What is Rebirth Island? It is the second map of Warzone alongside the map Verdansk and is a mix between a prison and a weapons lab. Compared to the large map Verdansk, Rebirth Island is much smaller, and instead of 150 players, only a maximum of 40 players land on the island to fight for victory.
Why Rebirth Island to start? Here you often have action right from the start and can learn the game much better than in Verdansk. You have more frequent battles, and the rounds end quicker. This can be best illustrated with a practical example.

MeinMMO Squad Attempting to Conquer the Warzone
As the MeinMMO squad, I, Maik Schneider, along with my colleagues Patrick Freese, Florian Franck, and Philipp Hansen, ventured into the Warzone.
Phil was quite familiar with the Warzone, as I had previously scored a victory in the big Battle Royale with him. However, Patrick and Flo were complete newcomers in Warzone and were not familiar with the gameplay of Modern Warfare firsthand. Nonetheless, the two are generally quite familiar with shooters.
Starting in the Warzone should still be a real challenge – for both noobs and my nerves. To complicate matters, both were mouse and keyboard players, while Phil and I preferred the controller for our first-person shooters. Questions about key bindings were playfully answered with PlayStation symbols instead of serious responses.

First Match in Verdansk Lasted Only a Few Moments
To start, I explained to Flo and Patrick important settings in Warzone and then we headed to the large map Verdansk. We decided on a drop at the “Military Base,” one of my favorite spots for the first landing. And my colleagues were about to find out why. Because full action awaited us here.
Although the situation in relation to the circle was not optimal, many teams flew to our spot. It was loud, and I quickly had to explain to our beginners the Gulag, the respawn mechanic of Warzone, which allows you to fight your way back during a match.
Despite the Gulag, the first match ended quickly, and although we had a nice time, it wasn’t due to the fun of the game up to that point.

But our two beginners experienced hardly any of the action. While Phil ended a round with 9 kills and I also got up to 7 kills, our noobs hardly got anything done. We ended our best match in 10th place, but the sluggish flow of the round was not particularly glorious.
Overall, we played seven matches on the large map and then decided to switch to Rebirth Island. The smaller map came into play with the release of the CoD title from 2020 – Black Ops Cold War.
Phil helped us achieve 10th place – but not everyone had fun.
Beginners Transformed into Helpful Teammates on Rebirth Island
Everything is a bit smaller here, but the action is generally bigger. As a team, you encounter enemies faster and do not have the often quite long breaks between fights that occur on the large map Verdansk. Although tactics for many kills and fights are possible here, often this is not suitable for beginners.
On Rebirth Island, our two noobs truly flourished. The most important instruction Phil and I gave to the two shooter-experienced Warzone beginners was to stick together. This was already the mantra on the large map, but on the small island, our new teammates suddenly became really helpful. Flo and Patrick scored kills, supported us in fights, and helped discover enemies.
The skill jump from Verdansk to Rebirth Island was impressive and made it clear to me – Rebirth Island is the better Warzone for beginners.
You are challenged more often, can quickly finish a round, and theoretically have greater chances of victory because fewer players are on the map. After a very strong match, we deservedly secured third place, which could have been a win with better coordination. But I won’t complain.
Nearly 20 kills and a 3rd place capped off an evening full of noob questions.
Watch Out for Game Modes – But as a Beginner, Head to Rebirth Island
What game modes are available for Rebirth Island? In Warzone, there are changing game modes. While the standard Battle Royale on Verdansk is almost always available as solo, duo, trio, and quad, there is usually only one playable variant of Rebirth Island that is active.
