In Outriders there is a scene that annoys numerous players. Fortunately, there is a way to disable it on PC

What scene is this? As soon as you start Outriders, an intro scene begins where a monstrous bird creature flies over the vastness of the planet Enoch.

The planet is the setting of the cooperative shooter. In itself, this is a cool scene that seems epic and beautiful at first or maybe the second time.

What is the problem? After about 2 weeks of playing Outriders a few times, this scene no longer feels epic at all, but mainly long.

It cannot be skipped. Luckily, there is a way for PC players to disable this scene. Additionally, the cutscene is quite loud, so if you have turned up the volume, it can be quite overwhelming.

Although the scene itself only lasts 20 seconds, with subsequent overlays it can take up to 40 seconds before you can finally join the game.

Much more pleasant login thanks to a small PC setting

Where does the method come from? We stumbled upon the trick in the subreddit for Outriders. It was shared by user ixSASA (via reddit). You need to follow this file path:

• Go to your Steam folder
• Open the “steamapps” folder
• Select the “common” folder
• There you will find the folder for Outriders
• Go to Madness -> Content -> Movies
• Now you need to rename the file “splash_screens” to “splash_screens.bak”

Is this also possible on other platforms? Unfortunately not. On Xbox and PlayStation, you do not have access to the game files. Since the game is streamed on Google Stadia, you also do not have access to files here and have to live with the activated scene.

The extent to which this scene annoys some players is evident in the subreddit for Outriders:

The post has over 4,300 upvotes (as of April 14, 6:00 PM) and gives numerous players space to vent their frustration about the scene.

With such clear feedback, it is quite possible that the developers People Can Fly will make this scene skippable.

However, with the current inventory wipe issues in Outriders, this probably isn’t high on the priority list.

What is the problem? Currently, a nasty bug can occur in Outriders that completely clears players’ inventories. The developers are currently working on a patch, but are advising against playing in co-op.

Weapon mods play an important role in Outriders. They give weapons their special properties and can greatly influence builds. But which are particularly suitable at the start? MeinMMO presents 10 weapon mods that you can find early on and that are useful.

How do weapon mods work? In Outriders, weapons from the rare (blue) tier have weapon modifications that give them certain properties. From the Epic (purple) rarity level onwards, weapons even have two slots that can be equipped with mods.

These weapon mods are divided into tiers, from Tier 1 to Tier 3. While blue weapons only drop Tier-1 mods, epic weapons usually have a Tier-2 modification.

The best Tier 1 mods to start

We show you some of the most useful Tier-1 modifications for your weapons that you can find early on and that could prove particularly useful in the early chapters.

Shieldmaiden

This mod does: By shooting, you build up an energy shield that also protects you from attacks.

This makes you more robust and is particularly useful when heading into higher world tiers.

As an assassin, you already have skills that build a shield. Thus, Shieldmaiden is a great complement.

Essence Thief

This mod does: Essence Thief works similarly to Shieldmaiden, only that you regenerate additional health points when hitting enemies. It may not be a huge amount, but classes like the Technomancer, who already regenerate health points through their damage, can benefit from the extra bonus.

The mod is also well-suited for the Pyromancer, who has it hardest at the beginning. Because he needs to kill enemies marked by his skills to heal himself. With Essence Thief, there is at least another source of health points through your own weapons.

Even though the Pyromancer has problems at the beginning, he is a very powerful class, as this build shows: Strong Pyromancer build even completes the hardest Expeditions of Outriders solo.

Murderous Medic

This mod does: With kill shots, you give your team back 30% of their health points.

So if you deal enough damage, you can virtually heal your team continuously. This is the ideal mod for players who want to take down enemies while supporting their team.

Hot Blood

This mod does: If you hit enemies with less than 50% of their health points, the bullets pass through them and hit three enemies within a 50-meter radius. Additionally, the hit enemies are set on fire.

Thus, with this mod, you can not only damage multiple enemies at once but also keep them at bay by burning them. This gives you an advantage against groups.

Health Reserve

This mod does: For every enemy you kill with a magazine, you gain health points when reloading.

This mod helps you to survive and is particularly well-suited for weapons with large magazines, such as LMGs.

You can take down numerous enemies with a magazine, and if your health points get low, just reload, and boom, you’re back to full health. Just be careful not to switch weapons in between.

Wounding Bullets

This mod does: When you hit enemies, the vulnerability status is activated on them.

This is particularly useful as you deal 15% more damage to them. That’s a decent damage bonus. Although the effect has an 8-second cooldown, it is still quite helpful in combat. Later, there is a Tier-2 variant that has only 4 seconds cooldown.

Although you can only swap one mod via crafting, you still have more options later in the game.

When is there epic equipment? You should receive your first epic items in Chapter 3 around Eagle Peak. Depending on your playstyle, you should be between level 9 and 13 by then. From there, epic equipment will become more frequent.

Later, when you unlock the Wanted and Hunt missions, you will even receive guaranteed epic items. In Trench Town, there are also multiple vendors who sell them.

Status mods like this work well with the special ammunition skills of your classes. So you can create poison and vulnerability at the same time with Technomancer and his Pest Bullets, and the same goes for the Pyromancer and the Assassin.

Fusion Explosion

This mod does: Shots cause a fusion explosion within a 5-meter radius. Can occur every 1.5 seconds.

This allows you to deal considerable damage to enemy groups. With Anomaly Wave and Fireworks, there are two other mods you can alternatively use that work similarly. However, these either have a lower range or a longer cooldown.

Soul Eater

This mod does: Kill shots restore health points.

The principle is simple: kill enemies and get a chunk of health points back. The effect can always be useful and enhance your survivability.

Ruler of Parasites/Vampire

This mod does: Kill shots increase the lifesteal of weapons/skills by 20% / 15% for 20 seconds.

Which of the two mods you use depends on your build and class. Basically, you can either leech health points with weapons or abilities.

Both mods enhance the effect through kill shots. So choose based on your preference and gain significantly more health points from weapons or abilities.

Here, especially the Technomancer benefits, who typically has lifesteal through skills and weapons.

Magazine Fire

This mod does: Reloading magazines causes a shock wave that deals damage within a 5-meter radius.

This mod is primarily aimed at melee fighters. You should rely on small magazines, shotguns, rifles, or submachine guns.

Especially assassins and devastators are geared towards melee combat. Especially when you are in the thick of the action and running out of ammunition, such a shock wave can be lifesaving or just fun to use.

Unlock mods once and use them repeatedly

Is it worth it at all? If you are wondering whether it pays off to think about mods so early in the game: it depends on you. However, if you find a mod that fits perfectly to your playstyle, you can keep using it.

In general, the crafting system of Outriders is designed so that you only need to unlock mods once and then can use them anytime again. It’s definitely worth unlocking as many as possible and trying them out.

How does it work? If you disassemble weapons with modifications, these mods are unlocked in your “Mod Library”. From that point on, you can choose them at your crafting bench and attach them to other weapons.

So if you find a mod that perfectly fits your playstyle, you can use it anytime, even if you have to switch your weapons for new ones.

You have the freedom to either stick to certain modifications or try new ones. As mentioned above in the article, you can have even two mods per equipment piece starting from the epic level.
