In Pokémon GO there is a spotlight hour starting today, on May 11, featuring Dratini. We will show you the bonuses of the event and analyze for whom it is worth participating.
What is a spotlight hour? Every Tuesday evening, an event of this kind takes place in Pokémon GO. For the duration of 60 minutes, a Pokémon is in the spotlight and spawns almost everywhere in the wild. This is accompanied by a bonus that makes the hour even more attractive.
This week, you will encounter Dratini at the event. It is a Dragon type and can evolve into Dragonair and later into Dragonite.
Spotlight Hour with Dratini – Start Time and Bonuses
When does it start? As you may know from the past weeks and months, the spotlight hour starts again today at 6:00 PM local time. In the game, you will notice that Dratini will appear everywhere around you, and the other Pokémon will swap out.
Here is the bonus: In addition to the many Dratini spawns, you will get a candy bonus during the event that affects your Pokémon transfers. You will receive double the candies for sending Pokémon.
This bonus also counts for Pokémon that you caught before the event and are only now sending.
Here’s what you need to know about Dratini In the early days of Pokémon GO, this Pokémon was particularly popular, as at that time Dragonite could show its full strength and shine. In February 2018, Dratini had its Community Day (if you enjoy a bit of nostalgia, read our article about the Community Day with Dratini.) By now, there are much stronger dragons in the game. But Pinktini and the shiny family are still popular among trainers as collectible Pokémon.
Is there a shiny Dratini? Yes, you can catch shiny Dratini in Pokémon GO since 2018. Today during the spotlight hour, you have the same chance.
The shiny family of Dratini
Is the spotlight hour worth it today? From two perspectives, the spotlight hour is definitely worth it for you today. If
you are looking for shiny Dratini
you have saved Pokémon that you want to send with the candy bonus
Additionally, there is currently a bonus that gives you triple experience points for catching Pokémon. Since you can catch Dratini relatively easily and thus achieve great throws, you are looking at a lot of experience points.
Will you participate in the spotlight hour today, or do you already have enough Dratini and shinies, which is why you are skipping the event today? Let us know your opinion here on MeinMMO in the comments and exchange views with other players.
In 2021, the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online (PC, PS4/PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S) will have events that are meant to be fun and bring you rewards. We will introduce these events to you.
Events play an important role in MMORPGs. Players look forward to special events as they provide a break from regular activities in the game and usually offer valuable rewards or help players level up faster.
Therefore, fans of the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) are excited about the celebrations, festivals, and events that take place throughout the year. In 2021, there will be such events again.
We will present to you the ESO events that are known for the year 2021, and we will update this article accordingly as new events are announced.
Keep in mind that the exact dates of the events are usually only announced shortly before their start. Where no exact date is known, we mention the period during which the events have usually taken place.
In ESO, there is always much to celebrate.
These are the ESO Events 2021
Midyear Mayhem
Period: A midyear mayhem already took place in January. Whether there will be a second one in June or July is currently unclear.
Process: Through a quest for the midyear mayhem, you travel to your faction’s main gate in the PvP area Cyrodiil. There you complete a quest and receive a scroll that grants you a 100% bonus on the Alliance War. Now, it’s about defeating as many enemy players in ESO PvP as possible. In return, you will receive rewards like mount styles or collectibles.
Who is this event for? The midyear mayhem is primarily aimed at PvP fans who enjoy participating in Alliance Wars.
The Midyear Mayhem in ESO is aimed at PvP fans.
Pan-Elsweyr Festival
Period: July to August
Process: You will venture to Elsweyr, the homeland of the Khajiit. There, you will need to complete daily quests in the northern and southern regions to collect event tickets. You can then exchange these tickets with the NPC Impresario for unique rewards. Additionally, you can obtain the first part of a mount.
Who is this event for? In principle, all players can benefit from this event and its rewards. Especially if you collect mounts, you should not miss it.
Anniversary Event
Period: Summer
Process: The anniversary event celebrates the content of the MMORPG that was released in the first year after launch. Therefore, the activities will also take place in the areas that were introduced back then. These are Orsinium, the Imperial City, and Craglorn. You can expect a series of daily quests and you will need to defeat bosses and collect loot. During this event, you will get the second part of the mount.
Who is this event for? If you’ve been with ESO since the beginning, you can celebrate this long time with a nostalgic look back at the first year.
New Chapter Event
Period: Summer
Process: This event is meant to introduce you to the new chapter Blackwood of ESO. Special events and rewards will make the story appealing to you. The exact process is not yet known. The event will reward you with the third part of the mount.
Who is this event for? If you are considering getting ESO Blackwood, participate in this event. It could not only make your decision easier, but you will also receive some rewards.
With the New Chapter Event, ESO Blackwood is meant to be made appealing to you.
Witches Festival
Period: October to November
Process: The Witches Festival essentially represents the Halloween event of ESO. You will receive an EXP bonus and take on a special quest. Through this, you will obtain event tickets that you can use for items such as spooky decorations or skins. In this event, you will receive the first part of a special house.
Who is this event for? If you want a new house, then this event is for you. Additionally, if you enjoy spooky experiences, you should participate in the Witches Festival.
Celebrations of the Undaunted
Period: November to December
Process: As an Undaunted, you venture into this event in dungeons for four players. You can use the dungeon finder or travel directly to the dungeon. There, you need to defeat the leaders. This will earn you the Undaunted Reward Chest, which contains many valuable and useful items. You will also frequently obtain special versions of items. Additionally, here, you will receive the second part of the special house.
Who is this event for? Every player should participate in the Celebrations of the Undaunted. The dungeon runs are fun and provide interesting loot that is always useful.
Process: Through a scroll from the Crown Store, you will reach the New Year’s Herald Breda, who has a special quest for you. This way, you will receive rewards. Furthermore, there are additional holiday quests during which you can celebrate together properly. You will receive plenty of gifts that are very worthwhile, including usually crafting styles, recipes, collectibles, and furnishings for your houses. In this event, you will obtain the third part of the special house.
Who is this event for? If you are in a celebratory mood and want many gifts, you should definitely participate in the New Year’s Festival. This way you can end the ESO year properly with your friends.
If new events and activities, such as mini-events, are announced, we will update this article for you.
Which ESO events are you looking forward to the most in 2021?
Patch 9.1 of World of Warcraft brings a lot, but Cortyn from MeinMMO is especially looking forward to three things. They are small allusions and cool details that make WoW more colorful and simply create a good feeling.
Slowly, very slowly, the first major update of World of Warcraft Shadowlands is coming within reach. Patch 9.1 Chains of Domination brings some major content and improvements, but also numerous small things that may go unnoticed.
In my opinion, Patch 9.1 Chains of Domination may not be the gigantic patch with a lot of content, but rather a “feel-good” patch with many small adjustments that will improve the overall experience for me.
I want to introduce you to three things from Patch 9.1 that I am really looking forward to.
Glasses Transmogs
Even though World of Warcraft offers a fairly extensive transmog system with thousands of items, there are a number of shortcomings. Other MMORPGs allow players to dye armor at will or have other freedoms in customization. Here, WoW is still somewhat restricted, although the number of items is regularly increasing.
However, a tiny detail in all the transmog items has been missing for far too long: glasses.
To be honest, this is even my personal highlight, as especially on an RP realm, the look of my characters (in most cases) is carefully thought out. There just haven’t been reasonable, ordinary glasses. Until now, you could only get safety goggles from engineers or completely over-the-top sparkly glasses straight from the 80s disco.
With Patch 9.1, that will finally change, as numerous glasses transmogs have been found in the game data. Here are a few examples from Wowhead:
Whether it’s my well-read gnome mage, the storytelling draenei, or my sexy blood elf secretary in gothic style, who can’t escape simpering arcane mages – a pair of glasses rounds off so many of my transmog sets.
It finally allows the finishing touch for the appearance of many of my characters. A small detail that is extraordinarily important for the representation of my characters.
You see: I am excited.
Besides, there are certainly a number of players who would like to adjust their character a bit to the real-life model. A stylish selection of glasses offers just the right opportunity to refine one detail or another.
Reunion with Old Friends
Yes, for some grumbling players, this is just “reheated content” and “the developers just can’t think of anything new anymore.” On the other hand, there are people who find that the new stories are totally crazy and have nothing to do with the Warcraft they loved so much.
But I really like what I’ve seen from Patch 9.1 so far.
Ner’zhul, orc shaman and first lich king, also makes an appearance in the latest raid.
The dreadlords are back as well and finally it comes to light where they originate from.
Garrosh Hellscream appears once again.
These are all, admittedly, old characters whose story would normally have long been told. But the fact that the expansion takes place in the afterlife allows and necessitates these big characters to be met one more time.
Above all, it provides the opportunity to give the characters one last cool scene and a bit more personality.
After all, orc Ner’zhul is actually a pretty important figure, but after the end of Warcraft 3, he hardly played a role anymore. There, Arthas united with the Helm of Domination and the orc soul and the shaman never played a proper role again.
Meeting his soul one last time and getting a bit more information about him is enticing. Small details for which I still love World of Warcraft after so many years.
My last point is Tazavesh, the Veiled Market. A new mega dungeon that deals with the story of the mysterious intermediaries and reveals more about their culture.
Okay, a new mega dungeon is anything but a small detail of the patch. In comparison to the large raid, it is probably just a minor thing, especially since the dungeon is not directly available for Mythic+.
However, “mega dungeons” have had a very special significance for me since their introduction.
Tazavesh will be one of Cortyn’s highlights – that’s already clear.
Whether you think back to the Blackrock Depths in Vanilla, the revamped Karazhan in Legion, or Operation: Mechagon in Battle for Azeroth. Mega dungeons have always been a special experience for me.
While I forget my first visit to ordinary dungeons over time because you simply repeat them so often in Mythic+, mega dungeons are different.
I still remember very well how we jumped into the magical vortex in Karazhan for the first time, which made us shrink.
I can still hear my tank in Discord, who was nauseated when Karazhan was suddenly turned upside down and the perspective distorted.
I still remember how much I had to laugh when we completely messed up this electric dodge run with the 4th boss of Mechagon and were overwhelmed by where the dungeon even starts or ends.
Mega dungeons always bring back many of the “first times” that you can experience in MMORPGs. Memories that last long and do not fade easily.
I already know that Tazavesh will provide me with another such experience, even though I basically haven’t seen anything concrete from the dungeon yet. But when it comes to this kind of content, I have blind trust in the developers because they can do it.
In other areas, I am less optimistic and skeptical – but that is not what this is about.
What things from Patch 9.1 are you looking forward to? Is there a cool detail or feature that you’re really excited about?
The Korean company NCSoft has been one of the world’s most successful studios producing MMORPGs for over 20 years. They are behind Lineage, Blade & Soul, and Aion. In the West, they were responsible for publishing Guild Wars 2 and WildStar. A graph showing NCSoft’s revenue figures since 1998 now reveals why so few new PC MMORPGs are being released.
This is the situation:
NCSoft has been in the MMORPG business since 1998. They are one of the largest game companies in the world. With titles like Lineage, Aion, and Blade & Soul, they have shaped the Asian MMORPG market. They operate globally, having released Guild Wars 2 and WildStar in the West.
The last PC MMORPG they released was WildStar (2014), which failed despite all efforts and had to be discontinued. The long-awaited action MMORPG “Project TL”, which is set to be released on PC and consoles, has been in development for 10 years but seems lost.
Instead, NCSoft has focused on mobile games since 2017, such as Lineage M, Lineage 2M, and more mobile games related to Aion and Blade & Soul.
Why are there hardly any large PC MMORPGs anymore?
This graph shows why PC MMORPGs are dying out: In its quarterly report for Q1 2021, NCSoft displayed the revenue development since 1998.
NCSoft’s financial report shows the revenue development of the company since 1998.
Here you can see that the company grew steadily from 1998 to 2005 with its initial titles Lineage and Lineage 2. Between 2005 and 2008, revenue stagnated for 4 years until it rose again in 2009 with the new MMORPGs Aion, Blade & Soul, and Guild Wars 2, and continued to grow relatively linearly until 2016.
In 2017, Lineage Mobile was released, a mobile version of the 20-year-old PC MMORPG “Lineage.” Revenue exploded and remained at nearly double the level of before the mobile phase for 3 years.
In the pandemic year 2020, revenue skyrocketed even further.
This is how successful mobile MMORPGs are: Another graph from NCSoft shows: In the last 9 years, MMORPGs have taken over the mobile market and the Google Play Store at least in terms of revenue, replacing the previously dominant casual games.
NCSoft considers itself a leader in the MMORPG trend with Lineage M and Lineage 2M.
In their view, mobile gamers now demand “immersive gameplay” from their games, that is, games that captivate them.
Within 9 years, MMORPGs have become the most lucrative types of games in the Google Play Store.
An MMORPG for everyone – for casuals and pros, for smartphone, PC, and console
This is the way forward: NCSoft has stated that after the “PC phase” and the “mobile phase”, they now wish to tackle two more phases:
They want to bring their games to consoles, as there is a demand for MMOs there.
Ultimately, the endgame is that people will play the same games on PC, mobile, and consoles.
As the “new game” in the pipeline for PC and consoles, NCSoft currently has only “Project TL”: The long-awaited MMORPG has been in development for 10 years. In the second half of 2021, “internal tests” are set to take place.
This is how NCSoft envisions the future of MMORPGs: One game for PC, mobile, and consoles.
This is the problem: In South Korea, the future seems to be heading towards NCSoft creating an MMORPG that is supposed to run on mobile and PC – perhaps even on consoles in the West. The idea is that people will play the game on the go with their smartphones and run it at home via an emulator on their computers.
However, players of PC MMORPGs in the West have developed a strong aversion to mobile games.
Yet, based on the numbers, it seems at least in the medium term unlikely that NCSoft will develop another MMORPG focused solely on PC players after Project TL.
From NCSoft’s depiction of sharks for hardcore users, whales for mid-core users, and a school of fish for casual players, it is clear to see NCSoft’s mindset: they aim to reach as many players as possible since each one generates revenue. And clearly, revenue is primarily in the mobile sector.
The Elder Scrolls Online has been around for over 6 years now, and the game has changed a lot since then. This can be confusing for returning players. But with our tips and advice, you’ll be able to return optimally.
2021 is once again a great year for ESO fans. With the new chapter Blackwood, the realms of Oblivion finally make a prominent return to the game this summer. Unfortunately, there isn’t a new class, but now you can lead NPC companions into battle, who also have their own story. But when returning to a large MMORPG like ESO after a long absence, confusion can set in. You suddenly find yourself in the world again, with an inventory full of strange items and tons of messages pointing to all sorts of new features.
This can quickly ruin the fun or even prevent you from checking out an old game again. But don’t worry, it’s not as bad as it seems. We from the ESO team at MeinMMO have summarized our experiences in the game along with tips from the community from the German ESO Facebook group as well as the popular ESO streamers Alex0s and MiezeMelli here in a comprehensive returnee guide.

Old Hero or New Character?
As a returning player, you already have at least one character that you created earlier. Is it worth playing that character again or is it better to start fresh?
The Benefits of Starting Fresh with a New Character
Reasons to choose a new hero: Unless you already have a powerful character at max level, it would be a good idea to start over with a new hero. ESO thrives on its story and atmosphere, which unfolds especially when you are there from the beginning.
Start fresh or let the old heroine out again?
Additionally, this way you will get to know the many new systems and tutorials from the start and can optimally reap the new rewards as you level up. Once you are familiar with the game again, you can always bring out your old hero.
Here are all the advantages of a restart at a glance:
You get to know the game and the story properly from the beginning
You won’t be overwhelmed by numerous skills and passive abilities and can reintegrate optimally.
You can test the new, now changed racial bonuses and save yourself the expensive race change tokens (you received some for free).
You receive the newly introduced rewards per level, including a mount starting at level 10.
You can immediately focus on a role like DD, Support, or Tank.
You can play the new classes of the Warden (introduced with Morrowind in 2017) or the Necromancer (released in 2019 with Elsweyr). There is still no option to change classes.
What You Can Do to Reacquaint Yourself with Your Old Hero
How to get back into your old hero: However, there are certainly some of you who have an old, beloved hero whom you don’t want to give up. In that case, you’ll just find yourself lost in the wilderness and confronted with the following things:
Your old build and skills have probably become obsolete due to various patches and upgrades. It’s likely that all your skill points have also been reset.
Your mailbox is probably full of information about past events, so clean it up.
Make sure to check your notifications for received items. You may have received free stuff while you were away. And what’s better than starting the game with a few gifts?
If you are now no longer satisfied with your hero, you can still change your name, race (much has changed here as well), and appearance for a fee.
This is what the Champion system looks like.
Help, what happened to my veteran ranks? Those who were around much earlier and knew the good old veteran ranks will be surprised. Because they are now gone.
Now, when you level up beyond the max level, you instead receive so-called Champion Points (CP). The Champion Points were recently significantly revamped in Update 29. Instead of the previous 9 constellations, there are now only 3, and these provide you with access to passive bonuses, including a higher chance to catch fish or more damage for certain actions.
The respective skills in the constellations give you corresponding bonuses that noticeably accumulate over time.
More Useful Tips for Anyone Returning to Tamriel in 2020
Depending on how long it’s been since you last played ESO, the following advice will make your return easier.
Pay Attention to the Zone Guide and the Class Guide
This is how you find your way around the world again: One of the biggest problems in ESO was that you often got lost in the large areas and could even miss exciting quests.
But finally, in 2019, a solution to this problem came: the Zone Guide. You can find it in the group finder menu or on the left side of the map. There you will see detailed listings of quests, wayshrines, dungeons, crafting stations, and other things to discover in the selected region.
The Zone Guide makes returning and reorienting in ESO much easier and less confusing, so be sure to give it a try.
This is what has changed from the old system: In the past, you could only wander around in your faction’s areas and only play regions that were appropriate for your level. But thankfully, this was changed in 2016 with One Tamriel.
Everyone can now play with everyone.
Since then, you can go anywhere you want, regardless of race, alliance, or level. So you can truly play ESO like a typical Elder Scrolls game without a rigid framework that restricts your play style.
And yes, it really doesn’t matter what level you are. The game scales you, your companions, and the enemies to a common level, so theoretically, you can play with complete beginners and absolute veterans as a mid-level hero, and everyone can receive appropriate loot and experience points.
Join Guilds, Including Trade Guilds!
Here’s what guilds offer: In ESO, you can join not just one but up to 5 guilds. It’s best to find a beginner-friendly group that can assist you with questions. The ESO community is still one of the friendliest and most helpful in the MMORPG genre.
Once you have gained a bit of experience, you will surely also get invited to dungeons or even “trials” (that’s what raids are called in ESO). There you can earn special gear that scales optimally due to the aforementioned One Tamriel. So you can comfortably go into instances even before reaching the maximum level.
This is why guilds are essential for crafters: The guild is especially invaluable if you (still) don’t have ESO Plus. Without the crafting bag, your inventory will fill up quickly with resources. You need them for crafting dailies, but you can safely store them in the guild bank. And if you are missing a certain herb or material, your guildmates will surely help you out quickly.
Reasons for Trade Guilds: Trade guilds are especially useful if you find a lot of stuff that you just want to sell. You can utilize the trade system optimally through the trade guild and achieve better prices for your items.
This is the optimal distribution of guild memberships:
1 Raid or Dungeon Guild
1 Personal Guild (for the guild bank as extra storage, but you need to have 10 members to unlock this)
1 Casual Fun Guild, e.g. for roleplay – ESO is actually very suitable for this
1 Trade Guild with several different trading locations
1 additional guild at your discretion, for example a PvP guild or another trade guild if you want to sell a lot of stuff.
You Can Now Steal and Sell Expensively
This is how thievery works: Since the Thieves Guild addon, you can steal and sell items much better and more effectively. However, you must not be seen. Ideally, you should steal in secluded corners or sneak up from behind unsuspecting NPCs and pick their pockets.
In this manner, you can obtain valuable items that you can sell to special fences in every major city. There are also daily quests for heists in these thief hideouts, which can be quite lucrative. So you can quickly make a lot of money. But be careful not to get caught, as it can get expensive.
You can also be a thief and get rich now.
Complete Area Quests and Collect Sky Shards
Here’s why you should do this: Especially at the beginning, you should go hunting for sky shards to earn enough skill points. Additionally, always complete the respective area quests, as they also grant skill points.
You will always need them, especially since with Greymoor, the antiques system comes a new skill line for all heroes, for which you will again need new skill points.
On PC, you can find sky shards particularly well with mods and addons. We have linked some especially useful ones for you here. Don’t forget the best mods for the user interface:
This is why you should go there: Crafters in ESO have to walk a lot. Each craft has its own workbench, and you can only create, dismantle, enhance, and research there. In many cities, the individual crafting stations are often far apart, and you will frequently have to run quite a distance for profitable crafting dailies.
However, luckily there are places where the crafters are closely grouped together. You can craft particularly effectively in:
All of these places have no long walking distances, so the relevant crafting stations are all located in one place, and you can complete your crafting dailies in no time.
There’s Now Housing and It’s Even Free!
Here’s how to get your free house: You currently receive a nice house from the Elsweyr main quest line with unlockable additional rooms. This is the perfect way to get into housing.
If you don’t have access to Elsweyr, you can settle for at least a small room. This is also available for free through a questline that you can get from the Crown Store.
The housing allows you to create your perfect home and fill it with all kinds of knickknacks from your adventures. Additionally, you can place access points to the bank and crafting stations here.
These are house guests: Also cool are the new house guests. These are NPCs that you can place in your house. They will walk along designated paths and make your housing feel more alive.
You Can Now Change Your Item Attributes Under “Personalities”
This is why roleplayers love this feature: For some time now, you can not only use a ton of cool emotes, but you can also change the entire animation set of your hero. You do this by opening the menu where you find your costumes and selecting the “Personalities” tab.
This allows you to become, among other things, the heroic leader, the sly thief, the cold-blooded assassin, or the drunken bum staggering around with a full mug. Personalities are worth their weight in gold, especially for roleplaying. You can obtain them from the Crown Store or as rewards for certain actions and dungeons.

This is why you no longer need to farm equipment endlessly: Since the “City of Clockwork” DLC was released, you can change your equipment during crafting. So if you like the axe you just looted but want it with a different attribute, you can now easily change it.
Provided you have already researched the respective attribute for the equipment category beforehand. So if you want the axe to be “Precise” instead of “Infused,” you’ll need to have already unlocked the “Infused” attribute for axes via deconstruction. Then you just need the coveted transmutation crystals, which are obtainable through:
Dailies of the Undaunted
Raids
Arenas
PvP
Thanks to the transmutation system, you no longer have to farm new equipment every time a patch nerfs your previous attributes or if some aspects of the loot don’t suit you.
This is why ESO Plus is useful: You can play ESO with all your purchased addons at any time without restrictions. However, if you subscribe to ESO Plus, you get many useful benefits. If you intend to play longer, you should definitely consider at least a monthly subscription. Among other things, you’ll receive the following advantages:
You get an unlimited bag for crafting materials that would otherwise clutter your inventory
You can further indulge in housing because there are more placeable objects in the subscription
The subscription offers many benefits, especially for crafting.
Claim Your Daily Login Reward
This is why you should log in every day: For some time now, ESO offers you a small reward just for showing up each day. Log into the game and claim, for example, an XP booster scroll, tasty buff food, or other useful items for free.
Visit the Stable Master Every Day
This is the benefit of your daily visit to the stable: This simple trick was particularly recommended by the community. Because every 24 hours, you can buy a horse upgrade from the stable master at the local stable. Don’t miss your daily upgrade, as you won’t be able to claim it retroactively.
Speed: You ride faster
Carrying capacity: You get an additional inventory slot, the most useful upgrade.
Stamina: Your horse consumes less stamina when sprinting and you will be thrown off less frequently.
Play ESO at a Relaxed Pace, Don’t Rush Through the Content
This is why relaxation is important: This tip has also been mentioned frequently in the community. Because you should definitely enjoy ESO without pressure and stress. The game never forces you to reach a specific level quickly or to complete a certain quest line.
Rather, the vast world of Tamriel invites you to explore thoroughly. So don’t just run straight to the quest, but take detours, explore new areas, and occasionally do a small instance through the dungeon finder or the guild.
We had you vote on which Primals in Final Fantasy XIV are your absolute favorites. Here are the results.
What it’s about: The Primals play a central role in the world and story of FFXIV. They represent the summons from the Final Fantasy universe and appear in the game in the form of spectacular boss fights. They enjoy great popularity among players.
In a community survey, we at MeinMMO wanted to find out which of these Primals is the player favorite. You answered us, and here is the community ranking of the most popular Primals.
This was the vote distribution: As there are now many Primals in FFXIV, participants could choose up to 3 favorites. Therefore, the results add up to more than 100%. A total of 822 votes were cast.
Rank 25: Enkidu (0.97 %)
Rank 24: Zurvan (2.07 %)
Rank 23: Bismarck (2.19 %)
Rank 22: Ramuh (2.31 %)
Rank 21: Garuda (3.89 %)
Rank 20: War Goddess (4.74 %)
Rank 19: Phoenix (4.87 %)
Rank 17: Leviathan (5.84 %)
Rank 16: Ifrit (6.45 %)
Rank 15: Titan (6.57 %)
Rank 14: Odin (7.42 %)
Rank 13: King Mogul Mog (7.91 %)
Rank 12: Sophia (8.39 %)
Rank 11: Sephirot (8.64 %)
Here are also the Top 10 Primals that you chose in our survey.
Warning: From here on, there are heavy spoilers about the story of FFXIV.
Rank 10: Ravana
9.73 %
This is Ravana: The first Wild Tribe that players encounter in the Heavensward expansion are the Gnath. They are insect-like beings connected by a large swarm mentality. At the top of this swarm mentality is Ravana, their god and an absolute warmonger.
Ravana’s entire existence is geared toward combat and conquest. He believes that one can only survive by subjugating and plundering others. Accordingly, his love for battles is great, and he challenges the Warrior of Light to a duel, which he ultimately loses.
Why Ravana is popular: The battle against Ravana introduced a series of new fun mechanics that hadn’t been seen in FFXIV before. For example, he switches between three stances that influence his sword attacks and the damage he takes. Players had to pay close attention to when to use their strong burst combos.
At the same time, Ravana, despite his warmongering nature, is still honorable. After his defeat, he keeps his promise and withdraws his Gnath army, so they no longer attack the surrounding areas and leave the residents in peace.
Rank 9: Knights of the Round
10.22 %
This is the Knights of the Round: While King Thordan and his knights were worshipped as holy in Ishgard, they were actually power-hungry murderers. 1,000 years ago, they murdered the great dragon Ratatoskr and stole its eyes, in which the incredible power of the dragon was sealed.
By doing so, they unleashed the war that would last 1,000 years and cost countless lives. For Nidhogg, the brother and partner of Ratatoskr, went mad with rage and grief. He swore to avenge his sister and eliminate every single descendant of Thordan, whether they were guilty or not.
Why the Knights of the Round are popular: As the final boss battle of the first expansion Heavensward, the fight against the Knights of the Round is spectacularly staged. Although you mainly fight against King Thordan, his knights also come into play repeatedly. After all the events in Heavensward, the battle against them is truly gratifying.
Additionally, the Knights of the Round are an extremely popular summon from Final Fantasy VII, which holds a high nostalgic value for many fans. Seeing these knights in better graphics and even fighting against them was a cool experience for many.
Rank 8: Lakshmi
10.71 %
This is Lakshmi: Lakshmi is actually not an evil deity. Worshipped by the snake-like Ananta, she is the goddess of good harvest and peace. According to the legends of the Ananta, she brings life and joy. But not when she is summoned as a Primal to take revenge.
The leader of the Qalyana tribe of the Ananta was so angry and full of grief over the murder of her daughter that she summoned her goddess Lakshmi and asked for help. She wanted her daughter to be resurrected. But the distorted image of the benevolent Lakshmi made her and her fellow tribeswomen her slaves.
Why Lakshmi is popular: Lakshmi is one of the most beautiful Primals in FFXIV, and this is reflected in the fight. The setting is very oriental, and Lakshmi’s attacks look like large lotus flowers. During the battle, she tells you that she does not want to hurt you. You should surrender and live in joy in her realm.
Moreover, Lakshmi’s boss theme is very cheerful and sounds enticing. Additionally, Lakshmi was a source of memes in the community. Her name, for example, was often used as “Lakshmimimi”. Additionally, there was the phrase “If you want a lot, play with Vril,” which is a mix of the Pril advertising slogan and the Vril mechanic from the fight.
Rank 7: Alexander
Alexander Boss Fight
10.83 %
This is Alexander: In ancient times, the huge colossus Alexander was built as a refuge. In it, philosophers and scholars were to pursue the secrets of life and the world undisturbed. But his power to manipulate time fell into the wrong hands.
Power-hungry goblins wanted to use him to create a world where they would dominate everything. To prevent this, players must infiltrate Alexander and destroy him from within. A plan that the Primal itself has set into motion because its mere existence would annihilate the world.
Why Alexander is popular: When you first enter the new zone of the Dravanian Hinterland in Heavensward, Alexander is the absolute highlight. The gigantic Primal sits half-submerged in a lake, covered by a magical dome.
The sight definitely leaves a deep first impression, and as a player, you want to find out what is behind it. Moreover, Alexander comes in stylish steampunk look, which had been rather rare in FFXIV until then.
This is Shinryu: Powerful artifacts should not simply be thrown into any abyss to get rid of them. This bitter lesson was learned by the NPCs and the player character in FFXIV when the traitor Ilbert used the dragon eyes of Nidhogg in battle to summon the powerful dragon Shinryu.
After Shinryu was later captured by the Garlean and held on the roof of the palace of Ala Mhigo, the crown prince Zenos took an interest in him. He fused with the dragon to become even stronger and to defeat the Warrior of Light. However, that did not happen.
Why Shinryu is popular: The fight against Shinryu was the final boss battle of the Stormblood expansion and was correspondingly spectacularly staged. Players fight on a platform high in the sky and can be thrown off at any time by Shinryu’s attacks.
Moreover, the giant dragon ultimately destroys the platform, and players have to hold on tightly to his scales to avoid dying. The cool fight and top-notch music evidently left a big impression on FFXIV players.
On the next page, we continue with ranks 5 to 1.

In Pokémon GO the event “Illuminating Legends Y” featuring Yveltal will start in a few days. Accompanying this is a rewarding Rocket event and a challenge. We will show you the details.
What kind of event is this? In the last few days, you could battle Xerneas in Pokémon GO. A new Pokémon related to Xerneas will follow on May 18th. Then for the first time, Yveltal from Generation 6 will be introduced to the game. At the same time, an event that is divided into two parts will start.
The first part revolves around Yveltal, Pam-Pam, and Team GO Rocket
The second part focuses on Eevee, its evolutions, and the new evolution Feelinara
Here we show you an overview of what you need to know about the event and why it will be worth your while.
Yveltal Event Part 1
When does it start? It starts on Tuesday, May 18th, at 10:00 AM. The first part of the event runs until May 24th at 8:00 PM. Find out further down in the article what bonuses you can expect in the second part.
What’s in it?
New Legendary Pokémon: The major highlight will likely be the introduction of Yveltal in Level 5 raids. The Pokémon is of Dark and Flying type and originates from the Kalos region (Gen. 6).
Contents of the 12 km eggs: You can receive “Strange Eggs” from Team GO Rocket after a successful battle, for which you need to walk a distance of 12 kilometers. During the event, Pam-Pam will appear in it, which has been catchable in Pokémon GO since May 11th. The following Pokémon can hatch from the 12 km eggs during the event:
Pam-Pam
Baldorfish
Larvitar
Absol
Pionskora
Ganovil
Zurrokex
Gladiantri
Skallyk
Kapuno
Wild spawns: In the wild, you will encounter more Dark-type Pokémon such as Hunduster and Kanivanha. Additionally, Pokémon such as Parfi, Flauschling, and Viscora, which have been present in the game since the Xerneas event, will also appear.
Timed Research: During the event, you will receive a timed research revolving around Team GO Rocket. If you complete it successfully, you will encounter Dark-type Pokémon like Galar-Zigzachs. There are also special field researches that reward you with encounters with Galar-Zigzachs and Zurrokex.
What happens in raids? Dark-type Pokémon like Alolan Meowth and Xerneas will appear in raids.
The contents of the 7 km eggs: In the eggs you receive from friends, the following Pokémon can be found starting from the event’s commencement:
Alolan Rattata
Alolan Meowth
Alolan Grimer
Sniebel
Fiffyen
Skunkapuh
Felilou
The Challenge: Similar to the Xerneas event, you will face a challenge that all trainers will tackle simultaneously. If you complete it, you will unlock additional bonuses starting from May 25th. The task is to defeat a total of 25 million Rocket Grunts from the start of the event until May 23rd. If you succeed, you will receive triple catch experience points, the chance to catch shiny Galar-Zigzachs (which will remain available even after the event), and Galar-Zigzachs in Level-1 raids. These bonuses will last until May 31st, with the exception of shiny Galar-Zigzachs.
Yveltal Event Part 2
When does it start? It starts on Tuesday, May 25th, at 10:00 AM. The second part of the event runs until May 31st at 8:00 PM.
What happens there? The second part of the Yveltal event mainly revolves around Eevee. A few weeks ago, trainers discovered the name trick for Feelinara. Now this evolution of Eevee will finally become a part of Pokémon GO.
Feelinara comes to Pokémon GO – You can evolve Eevee into Feelinara by making it your buddy and earning hearts
In the wild, you will encounter Eevee, Trasla, Parfi, Flauschling, and other Dark-type Pokémon from Part 1 of the event
From 7 km eggs, you can hatch Eevee, Pii, Fluffeluff, Togepi, Azurill, Parfi, and Flauschling
In Level-3 raids, you will encounter Aquana, Blitza, Flamara, Psiana, and Nachtara.
Research will also focus on Eevee and its evolutions
Unlearning Frustration in May 2021
Why it’s worth it: Whether you are excited about the spawns and egg changes for the event or not, an important mechanic will be activated during Part 1 of the event.
You can use a Charged TM to make a Shadow Pokémon forget the Charged attack Frustration
This bonus is important for every trainer who wants to get the most out of their Pokémon collection. It is well known that Shadow Pokémon are stronger than the “normal” forms of Pokémon. Therefore, they should not be purified. To make them forget their Charged attack “Frustration”, events like this are necessary. This way, your Shadow Mewtwo can learn strong moves like Ice Beam and forget Frustration.
So make sure to take advantage of this event to strengthen your Shadow Pokémon even further.
How do you like the event with Yveltal? Have you discovered any highlights like unlearning Frustration that you want to take advantage of? Let us know here on MeinMMO in the comments what you like about the event and what you don’t.
The new Icon Swaps 3 in FIFA 21 impress with strong rewards that allow for good legends. “Finally,” many players feel.
These are the Icon Swaps 3: The third round of the Icon Swap was released on May 10 and presents players with a new set of tasks. Completing these earns “Icon Swap Tokens.” These tokens can then be exchanged for the various rewards, which are really strong this time. The list looks as follows:
Icons:
Prime Icon Moments Schweinsteiger (92) – for 6 tokens
Prime Icon Moments Stoichkov (93) – for 8 tokens
Prime Icon Best (93) – for 11 tokens
Prime Icon Puskas (94) – for 13 tokens
Prime Icon Ferdinand (91) – for 15 tokens
Prime Icon Vieira (91) – for 17 tokens
Packs:
81+ x25 Pack – for 1 token
83+ x25 Pack – for 2 tokens
84+ x20 Pack – for 3 tokens
Icon Moments Pack – for 5 tokens
92+ Icon Moments Pack – for 7 tokens
92+ Prime Icon Player Pick – for 9 tokens
Icon Moments Player Pick – for 10 tokens
92+ Icon Moments Midfielder Player Pick – for 12 tokens
92+ Icon Moments Striker Player Pick – for 15 tokens
93+ Icon Moments Player Pick – for 16 tokens
In total, you can earn 18 tokens, of which 9 are currently available. The second half will be added at a later date. The crucial point is that even 18 tokens are not enough to obtain all rewards – you will have to choose. And that is not easy for the players this time.
The rewards are really good this time
“Why couldn’t Icon Swaps always be at this wow level?”
This is different this time: The second Icon Swaps batch caused criticism among some players. The icons offered there were not strong enough for the effort put into the tasks compared to the packs that could be obtained for relatively few tokens.
This time, however, the Icon Swaps offer a strong mix of good icon cards, icon packs, and player packs, which give hope for strong cards. Essentially, there is something for everyone, which is well received, including in the FIFA subreddit (via reddit).
“Why couldn’t Icon Swaps always be at this wow level? Relative to the performance curve at release, of course. This looks incredible,” one user commented (via reddit).
“Compared to what we had before, this is absolutely great. Finally, a chance for casuals to actually get something,” another commented (via reddit).
“Oh my god, as an Arsenal fan this is great and heartbreaking. I have to take Vieira, but I’ll miss out on so many delicious options,” a third user saw a little dilemma ahead (via reddit).
Some players emphasize how difficult it is to decide this time. One can wonderfully take the strong packs for few tokens – after all, they currently offer a good chance for TOTS cards. But that can also backfire, resulting in just mediocre cards.
Then there’s the possibility of Icon Packs or Player Picks. Here, one has the chance to pull really strong icons that are even better than the “safe” icons from the swaps. On the other hand, there’s also a chance to get comparatively weak icons, and then to have spent a lot of tokens.
And lastly, there are the safe icons, which are actually very useful this time. Players like Puskas, Ferdinand, or Vieira are real top cards, and Best, Stoichkov, and Schweinsteiger can improve many teams.
Which options will you choose? Let us know in the comments. And if you’re looking for an upgrade for your team that costs no coins: Check out TOTS Isak.

It is official: Rambo comes to Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops Cold War. The taciturn action hero is starting a second career in CoD and comes as an operator or skin into the game. MeinMMO shows you the date, trailer, and what else you can expect.
When does Rambo come? Next week Thursday, on May 20th. The official Twitter account of Call of Duty showed a date with a fitting trailer:
Whether the popular film character comes as its own operator or as a skin for an existing operator is still not known. The only thing certain is that starting next week you can start your quest for revenge in Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops Cold War and have the license for vigilantism.
Rambo as “poster boy” for the Season Reloaded update?
Is there more coming on May 20th? There are no official announcements yet, but the date fits for the mid-season update:
Start of Season 3 – April 22nd
End of the Battle Pass – June 16th
Rambo update – May 20th
This could mean that besides the crossover, other content from the Season 3 roadmap will come into the game.
There are still two weapons missing from the roadmap in the game – the submachine gun “AMP63” and the melee weapon “Baseball Bat”. For Warzone, there are even three weapons: the ballistic knife is currently only active in Cold War and has already been announced for the mid-season update.
For Cold War, new maps could also come into the game on May 20th. The classic “Standoff” is ready to go and for the large Fireteam modes, “Duga” is likely to be added. Duga is currently only available in the Zombie mode “Outbreak” . Additionally, the “Multi-Team Elimination” mode could come to Cold War. This is a mode similar to “Battle Royale” (via GameStar).
In the bottom right, there is also another exciting tile on the roadmap – “MIDSEASON EVENT”. However, it is still not known what it is about. It might be related to the action heroes that are supposed to come into the game. In addition to the Rambo hints, there was also a hint about John McClane from “Die Hard”.
Warzone talks about “biggest season yet” and refers to mid-season
According to statements from Amos Hodge, the Creative Director of Raven Software, Warzone players can look forward to the mid-season update. Hodge revealed in an interview about the release of Season 3: “What we saw today was just the beginning. […] there is a lot of content in 3.5. This is our biggest season yet” (via videogameschronicle).
The map update of the large map Verdansk and the Adler event for the season start have set the bar. But to really become the biggest season yet, Season 3 would need to deliver more. So far, there are officially no concrete announcements – apart from the action stars that are coming as characters into the battle royale. As soon as there are news, you will find the most important info here on MeinMMO.
The alpha launch of the MMORPG Ashes of Creationin Junewill not work either. Creative Director Steven Sharif explained that the date is very unfavorable and that players will have to wait a little longer as a result.
What was said about the alpha date? Originally, the alpha of the MMORPG Ashes of Creation was supposed to start in 2019, but there were delays in development at that time. The subsequent date in autumn 2020 could not be met either, because important bugs needed to be fixed.
My friends, some recent developments have prompted me to reassess our upcoming testing schedules and make some necessary adjustments. I will move the NDA release and the launch date of Alpha One from June 1 to July.
ESO: Blackwood and WoW TBC Classic are tough competition
Therefore, Ashes of Creation would have two strong competitors to contend with. With an alpha, this is likely to be difficult, as it does not showcase the finished game, but many features are still in an early state and not all content is available.
Steven Sharif believes:
Several new expansions for other live games were announced that would have coincided with our testing launch on June 1. We estimate that about 25% of our current test pool are active players in those titles. This fact forces our testers to choose between participating in our testing environment (which will be a long and arduous task) or playing an expansion with their friends in other popular titles.
Additionally, several systems such as the sieges and battles of Ashes of Creation still need to be tested. Furthermore, staff will be returning to the office in June, which would have made it difficult to adequately monitor the test.
When will testing take place? Steven Sharif stated that a planned preview test weekend starting May 14 for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will still take place. This test will be followed by another preview weekend from July 9 to 11.
The actual alpha test will then start on July 14 and will last until August 13. There is no NDA for the alpha and the preview weekend in July. Players are therefore allowed to report about their experiences.
What does the alpha include? Steven Sharif announced what you can expect from the alpha:
It is a server stress test to check performance when many players log in.
The node system will be tested. You can improve the node in your zone and experience what effects this has – for example on culture, quests, crafting, NPCs, vendors, housing, the government system, taxes, and more.
You can improve your hero using experience points, experience the effects of death, understand how the inventory works, and test combat and classes, loot, party management, and more in an early state.
Trade caravans, general trade, mounts, raids, guild progression, bosses, spawns, recipes, crafting, sieges, dungeons, quests, and dialogues are included in a basic version.
Can you understand the rescheduling of the alpha of Ashes of Creation? Let us know in the comments and share your thoughts with other readers of MeinMMO.
The auction houses of WoW Classic are closing temporarily. If you still want to buy or sell something, you should hurry.
Big changes are coming soon to World of Warcraft Classic. The auction houses in all cities are closing, thus restricting trade. In preparation for the first expansion, players will have to rely on traditional trading – at least for a few days.
What will happen? All auction houses in World of Warcraft Classic will temporarily stop their services. You will not be able to sell your materials and weapons in the auction house, nor will you be able to purchase items for crafting or enchantments.
Instead, players will have to revert to old-fashioned trading and contact other players directly if they want to buy or sell goods among themselves.
When will this happen? The auction house will close on May 14 at 7:00 PM. Only about 5 days later, after the maintenance, the auction houses will be available again starting May 19.
Why is the auction house closing? WoW Classic is taking the step towards the first expansion Burning Crusade Classic in a few days. As a new addon is being implemented, the developers will create a “snapshot” of the player characters. This will allow players to clone their characters or move to a pure “Classic Era” realm.
Since items in the auction house technically still belong to the character, there will likely be a block of 4 days. After 3 days, all items will have been returned at the latest and will be in the mailbox, ensuring nothing goes missing.
So, if anyone wants to buy or sell items in the next few days, they should do it promptly. Because those who post items at the last moment are essentially throwing away their gold. After all, other players will no longer be able to access the auction house. The costs for posting items will not be refunded.
So plan ahead and stock up on everything you want to have before the big pre-patch.

Today, on Tuesday, May 11, the Fortnite servers are going down across all platforms (PC/Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, Android). Meanwhile, the new update 16.40 has been rolled out. What’s in the new patch?
What’s happening today in Fortnite? The update 16.40 has been announced by Fortnite Status on Twitter and will be rolled out today (via Twitter). The patch is expected to bring some changes to the game.
Update 11:50 AM: The update 16.40 has now been rolled out. We have gathered the most important new features for you and will summarize them here.
Patch Notes for Update 16.40
What’s different now? The update 16.40 brought some changes to the game that may not be immediately obvious. Here’s what to expect after downloading:
New Mythic Weapon “Spire Guardian’s Ancient Assault Rifle” has been added (via Twitter)
New location on the map “Isla nublada” – The misty island south of Flush Factory, home to a new NPC (via Twitter)
The new exotic weapon “Marksman Six Shooter” is now in the game
The update 16.40 brought new weapons and now another exotic weapon for Season 6 has been added. With the Marksman, you can shoot particularly fast – but you must aim well, as there are only 6 shots before reloading, and it does not deal as much damage per hit. The data miner iFireMonkey shows the stats of the new weapon:
Now, let’s continue with the original server downtime article.
Fortnite servers are going down – when and for how long?
Downtime start in the morning: The downtime for the update starts today at 10:00 AM German time. At 9:30 AM, you can join a new match for the last time, afterward the servers will be taken down and Fortnite will be down for a period of time.
How long will the maintenance last? Based on experiences from the past weeks and months, the work should be completed around noon.
Technical issues or other delays could lead to an extension of the maintenance. If that happens, you will find out about it right here on MeinMMO.
Before players can again enjoy the map of Season 6, the servers will first be taken down
When will the patch notes come? Based on past experience from the recent updates in the new chapter of Fortnite, there will likely be no or only superficial patch notes for the battle royale mode.
However, if significant changes are being rolled out, we will gather them for you and add them here in the article as a mini-version of the patch notes.
What new content does update 16.40 bring?
What new features will there be in the battle royale mode? Fortnite Status has highlighted some novelties and changes when announcing the update on Twitter. Here’s what you can expect after the downtime:
A new exotic weapon: “Marksman Six Shooter”
More summery scenery for Creative mode
A new “wild week” starting May 13
The shotgun “The Dub” is being vaulted
Additionally, today marks the end of the first wild week and thus also the opportunity to get a free pickaxe. We will likely see what the next wild week will bring.
In Creative mode mayhem, you could secure these 2 gifts this week
Fortnite does not seem to bring too many changes with update 16.40, but there are a few things to experiment with again – like the new mythic weapon. However, it is likely that several bugs will be fixed as well. It will be exciting, as Season 6 is coming to an end soon.
Apparently, you won’t have to wait much longer for the official reveal of Battlefield 6 – although it may be a bit longer than recent leaks and rumors suggested.
This was the situation regarding Battlefield 6: In 2021, the Battlefield series is expected to get a new installment – Battlefield 6. However, official information has been scarce so far.
Leaks and rumors speak of a modern setting, recently leaked alleged images support these claims. Moreover, there are supposed to be significantly larger maps, more destruction physics, and higher player counts in matches. The new Battlefield is said to be increasingly inspired by one of the best installments – namely Battlefield 3. And actually, rumors also mentioned that the game should be officially revealed in May, but lately, the supposed hints have intensified (through potential leaked audio lines from the trailer).
At least regarding the reveal timeframe, there is now official certainty.
Battlefield 6 will be unveiled in June
This is now the announcement: Recently, there has finally been official information about the highly anticipated Battlefield 6. The official Twitter account of the game revealed with a pun when the new title is to be presented. In June 2021, it will finally go “Boom”.

So, you won’t have to wait much longer for the official presentation; the reveal is indeed just around the corner. But it is a bit longer than the leaks that already mentioned May.
When exactly will the Battlefield 6 reveal take place? Currently, there is no more precise date from official sources. However, EA’s “EA Play Live” event is scheduled from June 12 to 15, where new games will be presented, among other things. It is quite likely and reasonable that Battlefield 6 could be officially revealed during this event.
Are you already eager for concrete information about Battlefield 6? What are your biggest hopes and wishes for the new installment? Let us know in the comments along with other readers from MeinMMO.
Multiplayer shooters don’t always have to be rated 18+. There are a number of titles that you are only allowed to play from the age of 16. Here, we present the 6 best of them.
In terms of the order of the list, we oriented ourselves to the ratings of the games on Steam as well as the ratings on Metacritic. Both together determined the placement.
In terms of genres, we generally focused on multiplayer shooters and include here, for example, hero shooters or loot shooters to present you with a wider selection.

Developer: Valve/Hidden Path Entertainment | Release: August 21, 2012 | Platforms: PC, PS3, Xbox 360 | CS: GO website | Rating on Steam: 88% | Rating on Metacritic: 83/100
What is CS: GO? The team-based, tactical multiplayer shooter essentially offers classic gameplay. This includes game modes such as Deathmatch, as well as hostage rescue and bomb defusal. Two teams compete against each other on various maps, trying to achieve their objectives or secure victory.
These game modes are offered by CS: GO: You can compete with others in CS: GO in these game modes:
Deathmatch: Both teams can respawn and have a quota of “lives.” The team that runs out of lives loses.
Wingman: In 2v2 fights, you compete for victory.
Flying Scout Sniper: In this 8v8 mode, reduced gravity applies. The team that wins 9 rounds first wins the match.
Gun Game: In this mode, you have to fight your way through to better weapons on the map.
Destruction: Both teams start with equipment and must take turns attacking a single point on various maps.
Danger Zone: This is a battle royale mode where 18 players compete in an ever-shrinking arena.
Competitive: See below “What is special about the game?”
Classic Bomb Defusal and Hostage Rescue
What is special about the game? CS: GO is primarily played in the “Competitive” mode. This is also where the professional eSports matches take place, with two teams of 5 players each competing against each other. A best-of-30 system determines the winning team.
Teamplay is extremely important. The players must work well together and know exactly how to proceed.

Through streaming, general organization, and also the public participation of fans, the whole thing has probably taken on more of an event character in recent years, where most guilds see themselves as participants. Logically – after all, they are not only fighting for a good place in the rankings but also for a good reputation and a positive impression in the community.
If you’re interested in more details from the German WoW pro scene, you should listen to the full interview because it’s worth it.
The raids in World of Warcraft have improved over the years. “Blizzard can just do it,” says the head of the best German Alliance guild.
The first professional guilds of World of Warcraft have already started preparing for the next raid in Patch 9.1 Chains of Domination. After all, 10 new bosses are waiting, and there is a lot to do. But what is raiding like in a German pro guild, and how do they view international competition? YouTuber Geezax was able to ask professional Lanyx about it.
Who’s speaking? The answers to the questions were given by Lanyx, guild and raid leader of the guild “ad hoc gaming.” In the realm of mythic raiding, “ad hoc gaming” is currently the best German Alliance guild, ranked 2nd overall in Germany behind the Horde guild Aversion. You also frequently encounter “ad hoc gaming” in the global rankings, where they currently hold 26th place (via raider.io).
The interview was conducted by Geezax. He mainly engages with guides, discussions, and analyses on his YouTube channel and on Twitch – or in this interview.
For many expansions, raiding has been getting better
Primarily, of course, the conversation revolved around the raids and thus also the quality of the game content. While criticism often comes from the community that the developers have run out of ideas or that raids today are simply not as fascinating as they used to be, many professional players see it differently. Lanyx adds:
Of course, there are things like Conduit Power, that you have charges to switch your conduits – that’s all nonsense and crap. But at the end of the day, the raids we get are really good. Ny’alotha, for example, was also a great raid.
The only thing that diminished the fun of the raid in Ny’alotha a bit was the Corruption system. That they tuned that in the content and brought hotfixes was all nonsense. But we really keep getting better raids. And that’s what makes it fun for me. (…)
So raiding has been getting better since I started playing the game. [Since Blackhand – Warlords of Draenor] I wouldn’t say that any raid has been really bad. It’s always getting better. They can actually do that.
Lanyx’s only major criticism of the last raid was the fight against the Stone Generals. The fight was extremely RNG-heavy at the beginning. So it could be that one had a good or worse attempt purely by chance, without the players being able to have a significant influence on it. Thus, the second-to-last boss felt more like a final boss, which slightly diminished the sense of achievement when defeating Denathrius. However, “ad hoc gaming” is not alone in this criticism – it has generally been criticized by all larger guilds.
Nevertheless, it remains to be concluded that raids in World of Warcraft have become better and more fun over the years. There is fundamentally little to criticize. Only the accompanying systems, such as Conduit Power, Corruption, or Titan Forging diminish the joy of playing. However, this has primarily little to do with the design of the raids.

In casual guilds, “more players play for themselves”
In recent years, it has become common for many guilds to have a 21st person observing the raid from the outside. They then have a clear head and can overview everything and give tips that other players may sometimes miss in the heat of battle. Sometimes, this role is also taken on by the raid lead, who then only assumes an observing and supporting role – even if that means they are not present with their own character during the first kill. Lanyx says:
For me, for example, it isn’t important whether I’m there with my own character during the first kill, because the well-being and success of the guild is what excites me about raiding. The success – together. So that you achieve something, have fun together, and set goals that you can actually achieve.
For some, however, it’s actually … they lead a guild and they want to be part of it, want to get the achievement the first time, and so on. (…) That is really something only for guilds that have the motivation to go further up. (…) That’s the difference to, let’s say casual or worse guilds, where people play more for themselves and not for the well-being or common good of the others.

“The German scene has always been very challenging”
When asked about competition with other guilds, especially in the German scene, Lanyx also provided some interesting insights. The climate seems to have changed in recent years. Previously, there were often jabs. Specifically, he states:
Competition in Germany was always a topic until recently. The German scene has always been very challenging because – I don’t know if it can be called competition, but there was a lot of jabs. This has changed due to all the streaming and Aversion, as they are also somewhat of an organization and do – it has changed a lot. I really feel that we are all supporting each other.
Through streaming, general organization, and also the public participation of fans, the whole thing has probably taken on more of an event character in recent years, where most guilds see themselves as participants. Logically – after all, they are not only fighting for a good place in the rankings but also for a good reputation and a positive impression in the community.

Call of Duty: Warzone has a huge selection of weapons and yet some new firearms manage to find a special niche because they bring unique values. The tactical rifle CARV.2 is one of them. MeinMMO shows you what makes the weapon strong and why it’s in a dilemma.
What kind of rifle is this? The CARV.2 is another tactical rifle from Black Ops Cold War for Call of Duty: Warzone. Like the AUG and the M16, the CARV fires 3 shots with a single trigger pull and is thus classified as a burst rifle.
However, unlike its burst counterparts that made Season 2 uncertain, the CARV.2 focuses on less range and offers more damage in return. This puts it in a previously unique position in the Battle Royale Warzone, but it also causes issues. Because although it is playable at all distances, it struggles at the shortest and longest ranges.
MeinMMO shows you in which areas the CARV.2 shines, which setups will help you advance, and its place in Warzone.
CARV.2 is unique – But that brings problems
What makes the weapon strong? The CARV.2 is a stable burst rifle that distinguishes itself from the competition through its fire rate. You can fire bullets at your enemies significantly faster with this weapon than with the range-oriented counterparts M16 and AUG – but it still requires only 3 bursts for a kill, regardless of the distance.
The high fire rate gives the CARV the best time-to-kill among burst rifles and makes it strong in an area where the alternatives struggle somewhat – at short to medium range. If you fire a bit slower and don’t utilize the maximum fire rate, the CARV remains stable enough to be effective at greater distances as well.
Thus, the CARV is a strong all-rounder and can be used at almost any distance. The good playability is supported by a pleasant high mobility – as is the case with most weapons from Cold War in Warzone.
In Warzone, it’s best to do this in the Plunder mode. Land in a popular spot (in Plunder, Storage Town in the west is almost always well populated), get your “double kill,” and exit the game. The kills must happen quickly one after the other, otherwise, the “double kill” won’t count.
Unlike in multiplayer, you don’t need to finish the matches. However, the final blow counts for the kills – simply downing an opponent is not enough. But you can also take down players who have been downed by other teams – that counts towards your “double kills” too.
Where does the CARV.2 struggle? The tactical rifle acts like a “specialist” for medium range, and that is a problem. You can only carry two firearms in Warzone – ideally one for close combat and one for long-range kills. But with the CARV, you have to decide: Either you support the weapon with a close combat weapon or you bring something for the range with you.
However, one area suffers from this, which is typically range. The CARV generally feels more comfortable here, and a secondary weapon for close combat makes more sense. But even though the CARV is very stable, hitting targets at longer distances becomes increasingly difficult, especially if you want to take full advantage of the fire rate.
A disadvantage compared to the burst rifles M16 and AUG is also their poorer headshots. While the two competitors only need one headshot to achieve kills with two bursts, the CARV requires two headshots to decrease the time-to-kill.
Pro
Special all-round rifle focusing on medium range
Best TTK of the burst weapons at range
Pleasant mobility
TTK remains the same at all ranges
Contra

CoD Warzone: CARV.2 Setup – Allrounder
Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
Barrel: 20.8″ Task Force
Optic: Visiontech 2x
Ammo: 45 Round Drum
Grip: Snake Wrap
What makes the setup strong? With this attachment mix, you support the role of the CARV as a specialist for medium range. The barrel maximizes your fire rate and improves the TTK potential of the tactical rifle. To strengthen the CARV in close combat, the Snake Grip helps, and with the Visiontech 2x, you have a strong optic for hits at medium range.
The Agency Suppressor is (as almost always) a must. The muzzle attachment increases bullet velocity, range, and provides sound suppression. This is rounded off with a larger magazine. To minimize setbacks on other values, choose the first magazine with 45 rounds.
What makes the setup strong? Due to its high stability, the CARV can also serve as a long-range rifle. Our second setup gives the weapon a bonus for distance kills.
Attach the Ulan barrel to the CARV – it gives you the biggest bonus to important bullet speed. Together with the Agency Suppressor, you achieve over 1,000 meters/second, providing a good value for distance kills.
Instead of a grip, the Field Agent Underbarrel is worthwhile. This makes the CARV even more stable – which it needs, as you zoom in a lot with the “Axial Arms 3x” optic, and the optical recoil increases correspondingly.
If you want to see gameplay of the weapon, check out the German YouTuber “Fantou.” We embed a video from him where he plays two matches with the CARV.2. Fantou gets the weapon for the first time at 4:00 minutes:

Conclusion: CARV.2 fills a niche that no one asked for
The CARV.2 is an exciting weapon for everyone who enjoyed the burst rifle meta in Season 2. It has less range, but more damage than the two overachievers in Season 2 – AUG and M16. This fills a niche, and Warzone now offers a tactical rifle with the CARV that generally caters to shorter distances.
However, it can’t truly convince you with that and is in a dilemma:
Together with a close combat weapon, you lose effectiveness at range
Together with a long-range weapon, you are weaker in close combat
For aggressive players, the CARV.2 can be a strong option if you are looking for a firearm that offers you easy kills at medium distance to complement your close combat weapon. If you like to press the pace and rush every team you see, the CARV can be an interesting tool. Most of the time, your combat distances will then be relatively short, and for all enemies that are too far for your close combat weapons, the CARV.2 is ready. When you aim the tactical rifle for firing, you also have something for longer distances.
However, long-range assault rifles also work very well as a secondary weapon to a close combat rifle and offer a better time-to-kill. Although the CARV shines with its accurate 3-round bursts, many players prefer automatic weapons, and the CARV offers a solution to a problem that no one actually has.
Strong players in FIFA 21 are often quite expensive. However, through the current challenges, you can get Alexander Isak, a dangerous striker – and without having to spend coins.
What kind of card is this? Bundesliga fans will remember the name Alexander Isak from BVB, but the Swede is now scoring goals for the Spanish club Real Sociedad. And he is doing so reliably enough that Isak received a Team-of-the-Season card during the La Liga TOTS event.
The twist: it is not available in packs or on the transfer market, but in the current objectives of Ultimate Team. This means you can earn the card without having to open packs or spend coins.
And if you’re looking for a really good striker, you should definitely check this out. The card’s stats are impressive: Isak combines speed with great dribbling, strong shooting, and decent passing. He also has good physicality, four stars for skills, and a full five stars on his weak foot. If you equip Isak with an Engine style, it won’t be fun for your opponents.
Moreover, the 1.92-meter tall forward has the body type “High & Lean”, which is extremely unusual. At the moment, you can find this combination next to Isak only with Anderson Talisca – and the Brazilian was a very popular meta card in the early days of the season.
In short: With Isak, FIFA 21 has released one of the best objective cards ever. And to get it, you don’t have to conquer particularly difficult challenges.
How to get TOTS Alexander Isak
What you need to do for Isak: Overall, you have to complete 5 objectives. All of them take place in the “LaLiga Connections” mode, so in friendly matches. You don’t have to worry about your players’ stats or contracts, as the matches do not affect your footballers’ contract status. This also means that you can use loan players unlimitedly as long as they have at least one game left on their contract.
In this mode, you have to complete the tasks
The tasks are as follows:
Crossing Art: Prepare 3 goals via crosses in the Live FUT Friendly “LaLiga Connections”.
Goal with the weak foot: Score 4 goals using players with at least 4 stars on their weak foot in the Live FUT Friendly “LaLiga Connections”.
Sociedad Scorer: Score 15 goals in the Live FUT Friendly “LaLiga Connections”.
Winning Streak: Win 9 matches in the Live FUT Friendly “LaLiga Connections”.
Sneaky Scorer: Score in 11 separate matches in the Live FUT Friendly “LaLiga Connections” with players that have at least 4-star skill moves.
Which players can I use? In this mode, you need 11 LaLiga players in your starting lineup, coming from at least 6 clubs and at least 4 nations. On the bench, however, you can use any players you want. So theoretically, you could also bring on three players who do not come from LaLiga.
It is advisable to include as many players as possible with at least four stars on their weak foot and skills in your squad. Then you don’t have to be too picky about which player you use to complete each objective.
Many players have completed Valheim by now and are still waiting for the first major content update from the developers. However, that will take some time. Nevertheless, there is new content, just no official one. Some mods finally breathe life into the previously unused areas of Valheim.
What is this new content? The mod “Forgotten Biomes” from modder Alree makes the northern and southern parts of the map more vibrant. At the poles of the disc world of Valheim are the Ash Lands and the Deep North.
Both areas are already in the game and accessible, but still empty. There are a few scattered standard enemies and an unusable ore, but nothing more. With “Forgotten Biomes,” both the Ash Lands and the Deep North receive new content, such as:
Ore deposits of various kinds
Resources like stones
Vegetation
Spawn points for enemies
Special locations like castles, ruins, and more
In addition, the biomes have special effects. Just like it always rains in the swamp, there is an ash rain in the Ash Lands. The rain and the area set you on fire continuously if you don’t use fire protection or stand in water. You can get fire protection from mead, for example. In our guide, you can learn how to make mead and wine.
The Ash Lands and the Deep North receive an overhaul with the mod. Image source: NexusMods.
Fire Dragons and Burning Skeletons
This is how the biomes become even more lively: If you want to find not only resources but also enemies in the biomes, the mod “Monsternomicon” will help you. This mod brings some new enemy types for the Ash Lands and the ocean:
Storm Herald Wyvern (Ocean)
Drowned Soul (Ocean)
Surtlings and Elder Surtlings (Ash Lands)
Ash Eater Nymphs and Ash Eater Tadpoles (Ash Lands)
Burning Bones (Ash Lands)
Fire Breather Dragon (Ash Lands)
The creator emphasizes that he has a lot of fun programming and wants to bring more enemies in the “not too distant future,” perhaps even for the Deep North.

You may need additional mods for the listed ones to work. More details can be found on the respective pages. In our guide, you can learn how to install mods for Valheim.
The two areas are unofficial content made by fans. The developers are still working on improving Valheim and fixing bugs. After all, the game is still in Early Access despite all its success on Steam.
Next up is the update “Hearth and Home,” which is supposed to improve crafting, building, and cooking. However, when exactly the update will arrive is still unknown.
Many players have now achieved everything they can or want to in Valheim. They are now eagerly waiting for more content. Some of this new content can already be explored now to prepare for what’s to come. However, you should have a certain resistance to disgust:
Elyon launched its first Closed Beta in the West on May 7. It has received some harsh criticism. MeinMMO editor Alexander Leitsch has spent over 20 hours in the new MMORPG. Although he sees no hit potential in the MMORPG, Elyon serves a particular niche well.
What is my first impression of Elyon? Quite mixed:
Especially at the beginning, I felt like I was playing a rather soulless Asia-MMORPG, primarily due to the generic visuals. This feeling was even reinforced by the quests starting at level 22, as grinding becomes the main focus from then on.
However, after switching classes and reaching level 30, I suddenly experienced a change in Elyon, which I will explain in the article. So don’t write it off too early!
Where does the comparison with Bless come from? Bless Online was a Korean MMORPG that came to the West in 2018. The game featured an action-packed combat system and PvP battles in an open world. Additionally, it aimed to impress with a special system for taming animals.
However, at launch, there were technical issues, some promises were not kept, and many players felt that the world was too empty and generic. All points that could also affect Elyon.
What is behind Elyon? The Buy2Play MMORPG Elyon comes from Korea and was developed by the creators of TERA. You can choose from 5 or later 6 different classes, which quest in an open world and experience a story.
As you progress through the game, you unlock various dungeons, housing, and PvP content. Starting around level 30, open-world PvP is also added, which is not optional. Right from character creation, you join one of two factions and can then be killed while playing and questing starting at level 30.
What does Elyon do well? After nearly 20 hours of playtime, I am particularly impressed by 4 things in the game:
The general combat system
The dungeons
The PvP arenas
The character progression
What makes the fights so good? Even in the first seconds of the game, I noticed the combat system positively. You have to aim your attacks dynamically, there is a dodge roll, and an automatic stun break included, so you can escape crowd control effects like being knocked down or held with just a key press. Plus, I have to stay on the ball constantly. Many enemies have heavy attacks that are well represented by animations and telegraphs.
A highlight for me is the abilities for which I first need to mark targets. Once I have selected the targets accordingly, projectiles are sent towards them that are guaranteed to hit. I have only seen such a mechanic in TERA before.
I marked 3 of the wolves, but not the others.
However, the dynamic feel is somewhat dampened by the long animations and sometimes clunky animations. Personally, I prefer the combat system of Black Desert over that of Elyon, simply because it is overall more dynamic and offers more action. Nevertheless, fighting in Elyon has been a lot of fun so far.
What is behind the dungeons? With level 28 (about 2-3 hours of playtime), the first solo dungeon is unlocked. In this dungeon, I fight in a mine against a gang of goblins and at the end against a giant troll.
It’s particularly fun to fight here because while the troll has powerful attacks, they can be recognized and dodged easily when the giant swings its paw slowly and tries to slam me into the ground.
By the way, Elyon automatically provides an integrated DPS meter when you are in the dungeon.
The first dungeon boss was not a challenge.
With higher levels, more dungeons become available, with the next two designed only for solo players again. Only at level 36 is the first dungeon for 3 players available. Elyon also offers an automatic group finder or a tool where you can specifically make a request for groups.
My group for the 3 player dungeon was found in no time. The objective of the dungeon is to defend a portal against hordes of enemies. After about 8 waves, a big boss appears, who summons waves regularly, so we mainly focus on the boss. However, the difficulty level is rather manageable, and we don’t lose a single life, but gain plenty of loot.
Additionally, there are specific leaderboards for each dungeon. You can become immortalized if you are fast enough. Besides the useful loot, it gives another incentive to revisit the dungeons later.
The Solo Dungeon Goblin Cave has already been completed by good players in under 2 minutes.
What were my first adventures in PvP like? Elyon offers 3 interesting PvP contents:
Arenas in 1v1, 3v3, and 5v5
Realm battles, where the two factions fight against each other on different maps
Open-world PvP
My first touches with PvP were when I reached level 32 in the open world. And it’s quite frustrating because sometimes I get taken down out of nowhere by players who are well above my level.
The arena PvP, on the other hand, was really fun. Here, I automatically face other players in a small arena. My first match only lasts 11 seconds, and then an Elementalist, who is 6 levels above me, has already defeated me.
In 1v1, Elyon shines in my opinion.
In the following matches, however, I have fairly balanced fights, and Elyon can shine through its dynamics. As a Mystic, I can often CC opponents and hold them in my AoE effects or keep melee fighters at a distance. This gives me a significant advantage. On the other hand, I have little defense, so just a few attacks are enough to take me down.
I defeat an Assassin who is 2 levels below me in just under 30 seconds. Against another Mystic, I experience a fight that lasts nearly 3 minutes.
The dynamics and the fights remind me a lot of Blade & Soul in the arenas. And again, there are leaderboards, through which you can compare yourself with other players. A definite plus for me.
How does character development work? Elyon relies on 4 things for character development:
An artifact system that allows me to modify abilities
Runestones that provide bonus attributes and special effects
Skill trees that are unlocked at later levels
An equipment system that works with upgrades, which can also fail
It is noticeable that in the midgame, the development has a very significant influence and is a lot of fun. In the endgame, however, it tends to lean towards pay2win if the shop remains as it is in Korea.
What else did I enjoy? During gameplay, I experienced two things that happened rather randomly.
On one hand, there are world events that appear randomly. Then you have 60 seconds to accept a fight invitation, and you are then teleported into an instance with other players. There, various world bosses are fought.
On the other hand, there are smaller riddle dungeons when you get a corresponding treasure map. I mostly dropped this treasure map by chance. This treasure map teleports me to different dungeons where I have to collect treasures:
One dungeon reminded me of Smaug’s cave from The Hobbit. A dragon lies on the treasure, and I must stealthily steal chests around him.
In another dungeon, the chests disappear again if you’re not quick enough. Additionally, I am attacked by giant soap bubbles that lift me into the air temporarily if they catch me.
The third riddle dungeon consists of coins that I need to collect. However, giant rolling stones continually come toward me that knock me down. Here, skillful dodging plays an important role, and I feel almost like in Indiana Jones.
Collecting loot while battling dragons or here against soap bubbles.
Another small highlight is the housing system, which I could only test briefly. Here, I will be teleported into my own instance that I can freely decorate. At the beginning, a house with furniture is already there, but I can make any changes.
There is also a farm system through which I can cultivate vegetables and other things. However, I can’t yet say how it works. If desired, players can also visit friends and strangers through the interface.
Those who wish can decorate their house as well as the surrounding area.
Elyon also offers plenty of other familiar MMORPG content, including:
Fishing
Daily quests
A collection system with sets similar to ESO
An auction house
Titles and achievements
The scope of Elyon is already impressive at launch.
Problems with onboarding, open PvP, pay2win, and the lack of soul
What does Elyon do poorly? I see the 5 major problems with Elyon as:
The general “lack of soul”
The weak onboarding
The open PvP
Daily limitations
Pay2win
What do I mean by “lack of soul”? Good MMORPGs have something that makes them special and gives them a certain recognizability. In WoW, it’s the special graphics and the extensive lore. Black Desert excels with graphics, the action combat system, and the economic system.
Elyon, on the other hand, looks optically uninspired and monotonous. It also offers few unique characteristics that could be specifically highlighted. The onboarding feels incredibly generic.
You run through random areas, kill random mobs, listen to a completely uninteresting story, and in the end, even many things in the game look the same.
Additionally, it becomes evident right away that there wasn’t even an attempt to be creative regarding the quests. There’s an NPC who immediately assigns 7 tasks, and then you move on. The story quests are minimally more varied but are constantly tied to new level-ups. And for that, you first have to grind.
An NPC immediately assigns 10 tasks that all play out exactly the same.
This sets it apart starkly from Swords of Legends Online, which, although also an Asia-MMORPG, specifically aims to tell an Asian story and has a clear structure in the game world. That may not be for everyone, but you immediately know what you are dealing with.
This also makes the onboarding in Elyon so slow. Cool content like housing, PvP, Realm vs Realm, or dungeons only become available starting at level 28, with some even only starting at level 36. For that, you have to invest several hours into the game that are hardly enjoyable.
The right class to start: Those who start with the wrong class also have extreme problems in Elyon. Because while the Assassin and the Gunner were a lot of fun for me, the Warlord was an absolute disaster and played out somewhat slowly and uninspired. As an Elementalist and Mystic, I each had a mixed start.
It’s important to remember that the Holy Trinity plays a role, and especially Warlords (tanks) and Mystics (healers) will have a more important role there. This makes them more attractive again in the endgame.
The 5 classes in Elyon – Warlord, Elementalist, Mystic, Assassin, and Gunner.
What is difficult about PvP? Both in open-world fights and in Realm vs Realm, I face a clear problem: I lose 5% of my collected XP if I die. And there is hardly anything worse for me.
This XP loss completely destroys my Realm vs Realm experience. Here, 100 players from both factions battle against each other on different maps. With my level, I could enter an arena where there were dozens of dragon pups attacking both factions and providing them with loot.
It thus combines PvE and PvP. But in the midst of a huge storm of effects, you sometimes die out of nowhere. And losing 5% XP for that simply wasn’t worth it to me.
Dragons, teammates, and the enemy faction. In this storm of effects, everything goes under.
As I try to reach level 35 for the PvP arenas with my second character, I am immediately taken down multiple times by players from the opposing faction.
As if dying weren’t frustrating enough, this XP loss becomes a real problem for me. By the way, there’s no XP loss in arena PvP. I would have liked that for Realm vs Realm and PvP deaths in the open world as well.
What can you do daily? To get good equipment, you can complete daily quests and dungeons. Both are limited. You can only complete 4 dungeons per day and only 20 daily quests. This can reduce the fun of the game if you want to grind for a whole day on weekends rather than just regularly for a few hours.
The remaining time can then be spent in PvP or grinding in the open world.
What about pay2win? This is still hard to assess. In Korea, there are some pay2win elements in the shop, including:
Materials for upgrading equipment
Items that can prevent equipment destruction
Pets that help with looting and provide small buffs
Premium buffs like more loot and more XP
Storage/inventory expansions
However, it is not yet clear whether the shop will come over 1:1 to the West. In the first beta, the shop was even completely disabled, so we can’t make a definite statement about it yet.
How is Elyon doing in Korea? Currently, Elyon is still among the top 30 most played online games in Korea (via Gamemeca). However, it ranks behind MMORPGs like Lost Ark, Black Desert, and Blade & Soul.
Elyon actually started strong with high player numbers, but some bugs and the mix of content seem to have not kept many players engaged in the long term. However, there have already been some major updates, including seasons for PvP and the new Slayer class.
Elyon has been out in Korea for nearly 6 months, and the initial hype has faded. We will definitely keep an eye on how player numbers develop.
Elyon works for solo players but only up to a certain point
Can Elyon be enjoyed as a solo player? Yes, and at least up to a certain level, it’s actually more fun to be alone, as Elyon works with various instances within quests. This can lead to situations where you suddenly can’t see each other when you’re with several players.
Additionally, there are solo dungeons unlocked starting at level 28 that can only be completed alone and the 1v1 arena.
However, with a higher level, you will increasingly encounter players from the other faction, making solo questing a risk. Solo players are easy prey for enemies who want to take you down in PvP.
For later dungeons, arena PvP, and Realm vs Realm, it will almost be necessary to join a guild.
Elyon will not be a huge flop, but also not a hit
Pros
Dynamic combat system
Cool dungeons
Varied character progression
Small highlights like riddle dungeons, world bosses, housing
Exciting arena PvP
Huge PvP battles
Cons
The onboarding is very boring
It feels generally a bit generic and soulless
Open-world PvP with XP loss
Daily limitations
Potential pay2win
This is what Elyon could best be: An MMORPG that finds a surprisingly large niche for itself. Because especially the leaderboards in dungeons, the arena PvP, and the housing can convince. If you enjoy mass PvP, you can have fun in Realm vs Realm.
However, for Elyon to be successful, Kakao Games as the publisher needs to make several changes, including adjustments to the shop and also removing the XP loss from other players. Ideally, they will even tweak the grind for equipment.
This is what Elyon could worst be: A total flop. And that is not necessarily because the MMORPG is so bad, but because it is arriving in the wrong year. Because 2019 and 2020 saw a dry spell, and many would have welcomed a game like Elyon back then.
But in this year, exciting MMORPGs like Swords of Legends Online, New World, Lost Ark, and several other titles are on the horizon. And since Elyon is not set to launch until Q4 2021, it could simply be forgotten by then. Especially if one of the other MMORPGs hits it big.
My Elementalist from the beta in Elyon.
This is what I believe Elyon will be: I believe the game will find a niche, especially for players who have previously played TERA and Black Desert and are simply looking for a new MMORPG. This target audience is precisely what the game caters to – action-packed fights, grind, dungeons, and PvP.
Anyone who has not previously enjoyed Asia-MMORPGs with grind will likely not develop a taste for it in the future either. But there is a niche that could eagerly embrace a new game and keep it running for several years.
From this niche, however, I believe Elyon will not emerge. It does not have the potential to become the next big blockbuster like WoW, ESO, or FFXIV. But I am equally sure that it will not be shut down like Bless Online after only a year. The sheer amount of content, the combat system, and the technical optimization in the first beta were simply too good.
How do you see Elyon? Have you written it off already, or are you looking forward to the release? And which MMORPG are you looking forward to the most in 2021? Let us know in the comments, but also in this poll: Which new MMORPGs are you most looking forward to in 2021?
