New survival MMO aims to bring cinema hit from 2021 to life – developer says: „Perfect setting”
Funcom is working on a new game in the Dune universe. Not much is known yet – but at least a few details have now emerged through an announcement from the developer.
What kind of game will it be? For the first time, the Dune game from the Conan Exiles developer appeared in 2019 when Funcom announced an “Open World Multiplayer” game in the Dune universe along with two other games.
Now there is at least a new step in the development of the game: Funcom officially announced on its website that they are looking to fill several positions for the game in the “Multiplayer Open World Survival Genre.” There is also a first piece of artwork:

(via funcom.com)
This also fits with the fact that the game is expected to draw inspiration from the Funcom work “Conan Exiles”. Dune could seamlessly connect there – as the setting of Dune fits perfectly into a survival world. The developer emphasizes this as well.
“Sand under the fingernails” – What kind of world does Dune offer?
Funcom describes in the context of the job offers that both the novel series by Frank Herbert and the new film adaptation excite entire generations of fans: “It is the perfect setting for the Multiplayer Open World Survival Genre,” the announcement stated.
The new game is set on the desert planet Arrakis, which is also the main setting in the 2021 film “Dune” with Timothée Chalamet. There, the planet is shown to be extremely hostile to life – not only due to the destructive climate and the desert itself but also the constant danger of attracting massive sandworms if one does not know how to navigate safely through the desert.
Such a constant threat presents itself indeed for a game where survival is at stake. Funcom explains in the announcement that the Dune survival game will be their most ambitious project yet. For this, they are now looking for numerous new employees in many areas of development:
Join us as we build a Dune for all fans to realize the dream of traversing the ever-changing landscape, with sand under the fingernails and spice in the air.
The Dune survival game would already be the second Dune title from publisher Funcom: The strategy game “Spice Wars” just debuted in April 2022.
When will the survival game come out? There is still no official date, let alone a hint. However, since the game does not even have an official name yet and is currently in the process of searching for numerous employees for the project, a release is likely still a long way off.
However, it is known that the German developer “Nukklear” is on board as a co-developer – the studio announced this in December 2021. Nukklear calls it an “ambitious AAA project” on its own website, so one should not expect a small game.

A new version of the PS5 has reportedly appeared – Sony’s secret weapon against the hardware shortage?
However, the “CFI-1200 Series” of the PS5 might just be the secret weapon needed to achieve the 18 million deliveries.
If you are still looking for a PS5 in fiscal year 2022, then check our ticker regularly: PS5 ticker 2022 – Where can you buy a PS5 now?
It is not excluded that the new series could be a possible PS5 Slim / Pro, but this is less likely. Currently, it indicates more towards a standard PS5 version, which will have some internal modifications.
Why is a new model needed? In a recent report on PS5 sales, Sony stated that they delivered around 11.5 million consoles in their fiscal year 2021. The fiscal year at Sony always ends in March.
For the fiscal year 2022, that is until March 2023, however, the manufacturer wants to sell another 18 million units. And even as graphics card prices slowly begin to fall – chip manufacturer Intel expects further shortages until at least 2024.
Sony sees a chance to revert to more readily available components through a change in its hardware. Or they see the possibility of involving other manufacturers.
This will not be easy. Many parts affected by the shortage are high-tech goods requiring a lot of know-how and extremely high standards in manufacturing.

Apparently, PlayStation manufacturer Sony has certified parts for a new model of the PS5. After ambitious announcements regarding the planned sales figures of the PlayStation 5, a revised model could be the secret weapon of the Japanese manufacturer.
What has emerged now? A certification for PlayStation manufacturer Sony has been discovered on a government website of the Japanese government. It concerns a revised radio module in the device (via tele.soumu.go.jp).
The registered type name is “CFI-1200 Series”. This aligns with the previous numbering of the PS5 models – CFI-1XXX and CF-11XX. An excerpt of the certificate can be found on Twitter:
What does that mean? Since there is currently no further official information about a new model, this could mean a lot. Already for the last new model in September 2021, Sony remained silent on the release.
At that time, cooling elements were exchanged, and the new console version was about 300 grams lighter.
However, there is a statement from Hiroki Totoki, the CFO of Sony, that raises eyebrows. He recently mentioned in a Q&A about Sony’s financial results in connection with a possible microchip shortage until 2024:
“[…] in various areas… we have changed our sourcing and among other things, we have also changed our design. So we were able to manage it. Therefore, for parts procurement, I think we have good prospects” – via videogameschronicle.com.
The senior Sony staff member Totoki did not directly refer to the PS5. However, combined with the discovery of the “CFI-1200 Series”, indications of potential changes to the console are intensifying to partially overcome the current hardware shortage.
It is not excluded that the new series could be a possible PS5 Slim / Pro, but this is less likely. Currently, it indicates more towards a standard PS5 version, which will have some internal modifications.

LoL: US team buys expensive star first, then young Koreans, fails with everything – now brings back old Danes
The US team Cloud 9 made a radical change in League of Legends: They focused on young players from South Korea and systematically sorted out the old veterans. After a disappointing season, they are now taking the exact opposite approach and bringing back experienced players from Europe, including a 27-year-old Dane.
Cloud9 has always been the modern, somewhat different team in League of Legends. With Sneaky, they had a colorful franchise player for years, who liked to try his hand at cross-dressing.
But lately they have been going a bit overboard with the upheavals.
3 completely different identities in 1.5 years
This is what the team looked like a year ago: A year ago, Cloud9 was a team with 3 outstanding players: They had acquired the Croatian Perkz for a lot of money. On the bot lane, the strong Dane Zven raged with his supporter Vulcan, who was considered a huge talent in North America.
Weak points of the team were jungle Blaber and top laner Fudge, who played solidly but not spectacularly.
Blaber once had such a terrible play that Zven apparently snapped and was then banished to the “Academy League,” where he went berserk.
With the team, Cloud9 finished second in the LCS – but that wasn’t enough, so they completely rebuilt the team. They had to, as Perkz escaped back to Europe after the chaotic year.
The perhaps most exciting story in LoL is about a “reformed” troll:
Cloud9 becomes an extension of Korea in the LCS
This is what the team looked like half a year ago: Before the spring split of 2022, the team radically focused on Korea: They had a boot camp in Seoul and hired an innovative coach who had trained in Korea, and relied on a young hungry team filled with Koreans:
- They replaced the experienced Dane Zven on the bot lane with the young Korean Berserker (18)
- on the top lane, Summit (23), another talent from Korea moved in – the Australian Fudge had to switch to the mid lane, where the European and very expensive star player Perkz had disappeared
- as a supporter, Winsome, an American with Korean roots, now played
They were radical overall, wanting to build a “10-man” roster with equal players to enable optimal training.

This is how it turned out: The team had a strong run in the regular season, with the South Korean Summit even being voted the best player in the USA on the top lane. But there were already cracks: the coach left the team early for unspecified reasons.
In the playoffs, Cloud9 fell apart and lost all 6 games.
MVP Summit left the team after only 6 months – just like Winsome. Allegedly, the players were even offered to all other teams in the US LCS for free.
What’s next? Before the summer of 2022, Cloud9 is making a complete turnaround:
- Only Berserker remains from the South Korea offensive.
- The support role will now be played by Zven (24), the trained bot laner with a penchant for penta kills will become the partner of Berserker.
- Mid laner Fudge is moving back to the top lane to replace Summit.
- For mid lane, they are bringing back Jensen, the 27-year-old Dane, who had already played for Cloud9 from 2015 to 2019. He was last released by Team Liquid and was left without a team in spring 2022.
After Cloud9 relied on young Koreans in spring 2022, now older Danes are expected to do the job.
With Jensen, there was already wonder two years ago why he still got so much money – a year later he was replaced by his then team:
LoL: Man at retirement age (25) allegedly receives a record contract worth $4.2 million

Why are USB ports so many different colors?
When buying a new USB device or a new gaming PC, you may have noticed: it seems that every USB port has a different color. But why is this and what lies behind the color code?
Nowadays, you connect pretty much every device like gaming headset, mouse, or keyboard to your gaming PC or console with a USB cable. However, if you take a look at the USB ports, you’ll notice that each USB port has a color.
Originally, USB was introduced as a universal interface (USB stands for Universal Serial Bus) to reduce the number of cable types needed for computers. But where does this color code come from, and what does it mean for all the devices? In practice, you can insert the classic rectangular USB plug (USB-A) into any port.
The colors have existed since the birth of USB, but not everyone uses them consistently
Who introduced the colors? Officially, the colors are industrial standards that are implemented broadly across USB devices. However, this sounds easier than it is.
What is the issue with the colors? The colors of the ports are not mandatorily defined in the USB specifications and are not always applied consistently. For example, the manufacturer Razer uses green USB ports for a uniform design. Other manufacturers opt for pink ports, as they match the overall design.
In the most frustrating case, you need to consult the manufacturer’s manual or pay attention to the symbols. Because the symbols and logos are standardized.
However, it can be noted that the first USB port was white and was introduced in 1996. We will now individually introduce the most well-known colors again. The colors white, black, and blue are likely already familiar to most. Additionally, there are other colors that are less known.
Specific colors have the same meaning for most manufacturers
What does white represent? White USB ports stand for USB-1.0 and are hardly found today. In inexpensive small devices like webcams, you might still find the white port. The speed is 12 Mbit/s.
What does black represent? Black USB ports stand for USB-2.0. This port first appeared in 2000 and is still found in many devices. You typically connect mice and keyboards via USB-2.0 today, as you don’t need faster performance there. USB-2.0 achieves speeds of up to 480 Mbit/s.
What does blue represent? Blue USB ports represent USB-3.0. The blue ports have been around since 2008 and signify “Super Speed.” Therefore, you often find a small “SS” on USB-3.0 ports. The speed is 5 Gbit/s.
What does purple represent? Purple or teal-colored ports represent USB-3.1. The abbreviation “SS+” stands for SuperSpeed+ and officially achieves speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s. This standard has been around since 2013.
What other colors are there? Besides, there are yellow, red, and orange. However, they do not represent speeds but rather indicate a specific function. These colors denote that these USB ports are permanently powered and can be used as charging ports.
You can plug all USB devices into any color, but in practice, you lose performance
Theoretically, you can plug the rectangular USB plug (USB-A) into any port. Initially, the colors do not matter, as you can easily connect a USB-3 stick to a USB-2 port. Your computer will not complain and will recognize the device.
In practice, however, you lose the advantage of the USB-3 device. Because the USB-3.0 device (5 Gbit/s) will then operate at a maximum of USB 2.0 performance (480 Mbit/s). The recommendation is to preferably buy devices with USB-3 or faster, as USB 2.0 is considered outdated especially for USB sticks and other storage devices.
Annoyed by all the cables? You have dozens of USB cables and are tired of crawling under the desk? Then do it like MeinMMO editor Patrick Freese. He bought a USB hub that makes cable management significantly easier:
A USB hub for 30 € saves my cable management for my gaming PC

Pokémon GO: New promo code gives you 8 items, hurry up
In Pokémon GO there is a new promo code on May 12, 2022. It gives you 8 items. We will show you the code and the items here.
What kind of code is this? Promo codes for Pokémon GO are released from time to time. You can redeem these codes either in the game or on a corresponding website to easily secure some gifts for yourself.
Today, on May 12, a new promo code appeared, which is being shared in the trainer community.
- KG6EWDZRBK49KAY8
- Redeem directly (via rewards.nianticlabs.com)
How long is the code valid? Update on May 12 at 19:19 – The code has apparently expired and can no longer be redeemed. Feedback from trainers who have the code marked as “already redeemed” is increasing. Here’s the original message:
You can redeem it immediately, and you should do so while you can. As it is unclear how long the code will remain valid, you should hurry. In the past, promo codes have been quickly redeemed by trainers and lost validity rapidly. At 16:35 on May 12, the code was still valid.
What items are available? After redeeming, you will receive 2 Super Incubators, 2 Incense, 2 Incubators, and 2 Lucky Eggs.
All promo codes in May 2022 for Pokémon GO at a glance
How to redeem promo codes in Pokémon GO
How you redeem the codes depends on your smartphone. In Pokémon GO, the procedures are a bit different between iOS and Android. While on Android you can simply redeem codes in the game, on iOS you have to go through an external website.
On Android devices: If you play with an Android device, you can easily redeem promo codes in the in-game shop. You just need to scroll down until you find the “Promos” field. There, you enter the code, confirm, and the items should already be added to your bag.
On iOS devices: On iOS devices, entering in the shop is not possible, as the corresponding field does not exist at all. Instead, you need to visit Niantic’s rewards website. You can find the link here: Redeem promo code (via rewards.nianticlabs.com).
Here, you must select your linked account and enter the code. If everything works, you should see a corresponding notification on the website. In the game, you can check the journal to see if the items have been credited to you via the code.

Lost Ark does almost everything right with the May update
The big May update for Lost Ark arrives on May 19th, coinciding with next week’s weekly update. It brings a ton of new content and gets almost everything right, but one thing MeinMMO author Mark Sellner thinks is not as well done.
What does the update bring? Every month, the MMORPG Lost Ark receives a major update. In April, for example, the new class, the Lancebearer, was released. Also in May, fans will be treated to another update that focuses entirely on new content.
With Valtan, the game receives its first Legion Raid, where eight players must face a particularly strong boss opponent in two phases, and with Deskaluda, the latest Guardian Raid, there is also new content for four players.
The new continent South Vern is also being further populated. Although it is already in the game, it still lacks Chaos Gates, Chaos Dungeons, boss enemies, and more. All this content is expected to be delivered with the May update on the 19th of the month.
Thus, the patch primarily targets players at the upper end of the current gear score, meaning above 1,415. In the hard mode, you even need an item level of 1,445 to face Valtan. However, you will also receive brand new loot there, namely equipment of the “Relic” rarity. This has not been available in our version of Lost Ark before.
There’s something for new players too: Although most content is geared towards players who have spent several hundred hours in the game, there are also exciting contents for new players. The next new class, the Destroyer, is also making its debut in the West with the latest patch.
It even brings its latest balance adjustments that it has already received in Korea. So the update seems to really do everything right, right? No, almost. At least that’s what MeinMMO author Mark Sellner says.
Personal conclusion: Balancing issues and anticipation
What else is there? After all the content announcements, further down in the original post are new skins, quality-of-life updates, and a small section on balancing, but this small section is actually much bigger than it looks.
It is described there that there will be some extensive balance changes that were just made in Korea. However, this doesn’t quite fit into our version. Because assuming we keep exactly the same balance package as what Korea recently got, it would be way too early.
Korea has many, many more contents than the western version of Lost Ark has at the current stage. Especially the number of classes plays a major role in this.
Why is this a problem? The balance changes of the Korean server are adapted to their meta. If these changes come to us one-to-one, the original balance plan will no longer hold. Even with the Destroyer, Korea still has 5 more classes that can fundamentally change the meta gameplay.
There are changes that also make sense for our version, such as the strengthening of the Scrapper or the weakening of the Madness Berserker, but other changes make less sense for us. For example, a content of the balance patch also included changes to some skills of the Lancebearer, which was just released here a month ago.
Furthermore, many players are still in the process of slowly mastering their class. The fact that a large part of the skills will be changed, new counter skills will be introduced, and some effects of certain skills will change could cause problems here.
An overview of all changes in Korea can be found at Onstove.com. However, note that it is still not 100% certain that we will receive all these changes in Europe.
The anticipation outweighs despite everything
Only small concerns: Nevertheless, Lost Ark is getting almost everything right with the May update, as the headline suggests. The communication with the community was exemplary and Amazon kept the players constantly updated.
After there were initially great discussions about the fast arrival of content with the first new boss Argos, the release of Valtan seems very deliberate. The developers promised that they would closely monitor the progress of the players before bringing a new endgame boss into the game.
The reason for this is that Smilegate wants to prevent fans from feeling that they can only keep up by investing real money. Whether Valtan really comes at the right time, we will only know at the release. However, the mood in the community is already much more pleasant and positive than it was at the announcement of Argos.
The uncertainty: However, the developers will only reveal what awaits us in detail next week. Whether all balance changes will be adopted exactly as they are in Korea is currently still not 100% confirmed. However, there will not be a power pass for the Destroyer, as was the case with the Lancebearer.
Perhaps my opinion, as well as that of some fans, will change when the final patch notes are available. Until then, however, it is a matter of waiting.
What do you think of the upcoming update? Are you looking forward to the May patch or rather to the upcoming summer roadmap? Feel free to let us know in the comments here on MeinMMO.

Absolute chaos with the German YouTuber ApoRed – insolvency and allegations of fraud and rip-off
The German YouTuber MiiMii has been making a multi-part video series about the alleged misdeeds of Ahmad Nadim “ApoRed” Ahadi for some time now. In the latest installment, the YouTuber accuses him of not redeeming contests for viewers and reveals that ApoRed is facing bankruptcy proceedings.
Who is ApoRed? The German YouTuber has released various pranks, vlogs, gameplay videos, and songs with other well-known influencers. He has also been frequently involved in dramas with Unge, KuchenTV, and other YouTubers. He played Fortnite but was upset that he received no preferential treatment from Epic simply because he was allegedly not “brand safe”.
What allegations are there against ApoRed? ApoRed filmed a bomb prank in which he pretended to have a bag with a bomb. He placed it down, warned nearby people about it, and ran away. He even had to go to court for it, and the victims reportedly have suffered from anxiety and sleep disorders as a result (via spiegel.de).
Additionally, he is said to have not redeemed several contests in recent years. These included a fan meeting, a live concert in a school, or physical prizes. MiiMii once again accuses him in the current video of not having redeemed contests and even shows that a bankruptcy procedure against ApoRed is ongoing.
ApoRed boasts about wealth – Is it all just a lie?
What is MiiMii discussing in the video? MiiMii highlights various issues in the latest video:
- The bankruptcy proceedings.
- Unredeemed contests.
- Sale of worn clothing that ApoRed never sent to the buyer.
Here you can watch MiiMii’s video:
What does MiiMii say about the bankruptcy proceedings? He pointed out that one should check Insolvenzbekanntmachungen.de and enter ApoRed’s last name Ahadi to find a listing dated March 29, 2022. It states that he is in debt and insolvent.
What does that mean? Ahadi owed money to people. After several reminders, the creditors went to court, which appointed an insolvency administrator after a review.
This insolvency administrator is investigating the assets of the YouTuber and has control over cash inflows, the account, and ensures that the individuals who contacted the administrator, and will contact, get their money back.
“Pretty ironic,” finds MiiMii, as ApoRed constantly talks about how rich he is, owning several cars and being a partner in businesses.
If Red isn’t making music, if Red isn’t uploading videos properly – the guy must be making or have made millions behind the scenes. I have to say, this theory is unfortunately wrong, because billions were made behind the scenes, friends, billions.
ApoRed (Source: excerpt from ApoRed’s comeback video in MiiMii’s YouTube video)
Furthermore, he boasts about making heaps of money through businesses and things outside of YouTube and sets some aside to travel abroad. He also showed in a XXL tour his huge new apartment, where he initially woke up in a bed full of Euro bills.
Both videos were recently deleted from his channel.
ApoRed allegedly scammed viewers – In contests and with sales
What kind of contests were they? In a contest, fans could win 20 prizes, including items worth a total of around 10,000 euros, including PS5 consoles, TVs, and iPads.
In the second contest, the YouTuber raffled off a diamond-studded Rolex, chains, glasses, and bracelets worth around 20,000 euros.
The winners were already announced in the first contest, but according to MiiMii’s research, none of them have received their prize yet. Instead, ApoRed allegedly deleted both posts from his Instagram profile.

What did ApoRed sell? ApoRed sold worn designer clothes in the “APORED STORE”, where a fan apparently purchased a pair of shoes in 2018. He sent 125 euros to the YouTuber, but apparently hasn’t received the shoes to this day. MiiMii showed the transfer receipt in the video, as well as the emails from the fan and the order confirmation.
The domain of the store was subsequently blocked, but ApoRed then opened a shop on Vinted.de. He was supposedly also blocked on Vinted, as seen in MiiMii’s video. However, when visiting the profile, there is no mention of a ban, nor are any products found there.
How much truth there is to the accusations and what is true only the YouTuber ApoRed himself knows. We at MeinMMO have already requested a statement from ApoRed, but have not yet received a response. If we get a reply, we will include it in the article.
Did you know that ApoRed started with Let’s Plays on YouTube in 2011? He is not the only one, as iBlali also began with gameplay videos back then: Aligator1024 was one of the first major Let’s Players on German YouTube – what is he doing today?

2 of the biggest releases for 2022 have been postponed – Starfield and Redfall will only come in 2023
With Redfall and Starfield, we were expecting two big hits from Bethesda in 2022. However, Bethesda has now announced that the release will be delayed.
Starfield is a new action game from Bethesda and the first new franchise from the makers of Skyrim in 25 years. A first trailer was shown at E3 2021; furthermore, Bethesda, along with Microsoft, announced that the game was set to release in 2022. After Elden Ring, Starfield could have potentially been the biggest and most exciting game of 2022.
Redfall will be a new open-world first-person shooter from Bethesda. In it, you fight against vampires with modern firearms, which are becoming larger and stronger due to a failed experiment. The game was supposed to be released in the summer of 2022.
What happened? Bethesda stated on Twitter that the two major games will be delayed:
“We have made the decision to delay the release of Redfall and Starfield to the first half of 2023.”
Are there reasons for the delay? Specific reasons were not provided as to why the two games are being delayed. They at least promise waiting gamers that they will receive the “best and most polished” versions of the games.
Is there a new release date? Bethesda did not provide a date either. Officially, the games are now set to be released in the first half of 2023. Here, the developers have a lot of leeway as to when the game will actually be released.
Both games will definitely be included directly in the Game Pass:
Starfield is set to be the next big single-player RPG after Skyrim
What is Starfield anyway? Starfield is supposed to be a single-player RPG in the Bethesda style, just like Skyrim and Fallout 4. It takes place hundreds of years in the future, and humanity has made the leap into space. However, there is currently no detailed information about gameplay and game content.
What is Redfall anyway? In the new shooter Redfall, you should travel to the eponymous city and work as vampire hunters there. For this, you choose your favorite from several characters and then shoot your way through your enemies in the style of a loot shooter. Similar to Borderlands, the co-op shooter is said to rely on humor but provide a modern look, thereby appealing especially to those who had no affinity for the colorful design of Borderlands.
So far, the developers have introduced 4 characters and abilities. When more information will follow is still unknown.

Destiny 2 changes the Gambit rules – Even cheaters are rewarded
In Destiny 2 the Guardian Games 2022 are currently taking place. However, it was revealed in the first week that some players are cheating for a rare emblem. Bungie has now released a fix, but instead of punishing the cheaters, they will even be rewarded at the end of the Guardian Games.
What are the Guardian Games struggling with? We had already reported on MeinMMO beforehand, that the Guardian Games are struggling with cheaters. Players shamelessly exploited an in-game mechanic to rack up a huge amount of points in the competitive playlists. With a high score, they positioned themselves among the top 10% of players who should have access to a very rare emblem.
However, these cheaters drove honest players out of the ranking, who were genuinely trying to achieve a high score just to barely qualify.
Bungie has caught wind of this and announced on Twitter that they have now addressed the problem. But instead of punishment or disqualification, the crafty Guardians will also be rewarded.
Rule Change – More Guardians Now Get the Emblem
What has Bungie changed? With other minor fixes from the new update, Bungie mentioned the following:
We have updated the Guardian Games community scores (including the top 10%) to ignore high scores achieved through repeated respawns of fireteam members. Everyone remains eligible for the top 10% emblem, inflated scores will not unfairly distort the “10%” threshold.
Bungie stated on May 11 via Twitter
However, that does not mean that the cheaters have been disqualified. Bungie means that players with such a “cheese score” will not be taken into account in the overall Guardian Games community scores. This gives them, with their extremely high score, an almost guaranteed chance to receive the emblem.
Do I still have a chance at the emblem? This means for you that the 10% pool of the “worthy” Guardians will be expanded. Thus, not only the cheaters benefit but also honorable players who have genuinely put in time and effort to obtain the emblem.
All you have to do is to be above the average of the overall score.
How high does the score need to be? The YouTuber “Cheese Forever” sets the minimum score at around 200,000 – 300,000 and states that this threshold must be reached or exceeded to secure the emblem.
What do you think about Bungie not taking a hard stance against the cheaters? Do you care or are you upset that they are being rewarded as well? Let us know in the comments what you think!

Final Fantasy XIV: A Twitch streamer freaks out and insults his viewers when he learns of a rule
Third-party tools are basically not allowed in Final Fantasy XIV. This was emphasized multiple times by the head of the MMORPG. Some players still use them. One of them is the streamer Pyromancer, who became angry when he was criticized for using the addons.
The situation in brief:
- Third-party tools and addons have basically been banned in Final Fantasy XIV for years. Players use them at their own risk and with the possibility of receiving temporary or permanent bans.
- On May 9, the head of the MMORPG, Naoki Yoshida, published a blog post in which he reiterated that third-party tools are not allowed. He also explained what types of programs fall into this category.
- Yoshida’s post came in connection with the world-first race for the kill of the new ultimate raid Dragon War (Fatal). Several participants used unauthorized addons to gain advantages in combat.
- As a result, several players received temporary bans for openly showcasing the use of addons in their streams or videos.
Yoshida’s post caused a significant uproar in the FFXIV community. Factions formed that represented different viewpoints regarding the regulation.
While some demanded strict enforcement of the no-addons policy, others defended some of the addons. A prominent defender was the well-known streamer Pyromancer.
“You are so fucking dumb.”
Pyromancer was one of the YouTubers and streamers who switched to FFXIV in summer 2021 because he was dissatisfied with WoW. The switch gave his channels an enormous boost in followers, active viewers, and subs, making him one of the largest FFXIV streamers in a very short time.
This is what happened: In his streams, Pyromancer openly used addons and mods that altered his user interface. His icons, windows, and text boxes looked different. Addons also indicated when he could move while casting spells without being interrupted, as the server does not register it due to lag, which is a DPS advantage.
In previous streams, the streamer claimed that the third-party tools he uses are not banned. He seemed unaware of the rule that no such tools are allowed.
In one of his latest streams, several viewers pointed out to Pyromancer that this type of addon is not allowed. The streamer defended its use because he “just wants to play the game with a nice UI that doesn’t look like garbage. That’s all I want.”
The conversation with the chat started calmly but escalated further. Pyromancer began shouting at viewers who contradicted him and banning them. There were also strong insults against individual users.
The video ended with Pyromancer telling his opponents to “go outside and interact with real people.” The Twitch clip of the video is no longer available, but it was uploaded separately on several YouTube channels.
What’s behind it: FFXIV viewers who know Pyromancer are aware that the streamer has a short fuse. He has previously blown up and reacted aggressively to criticism. This makes him an easy target for trolls.
According to the FFXIV streamer Arthars, a group of 5Chan users has targeted Pyromancer because he openly shows mods in his streams and argues for their use. This group is said to have organized to conduct mass reports intended to lead to the streamer being banned.
Some of these users also appeared in Pyromancer’s stream and argued with him until he blew up.
One day after his rage stream, Pyromancer went online again. In an emotional stream , he apologized for his behavior. He justified his extreme reactions with ADHD, which he suffers from.
The streamer explained that he regularly sees a psychotherapist and takes medication for it. However, the disorder cannot always be controlled, which leads to his outbursts or insulting comments.
He still wants to continue streaming FFXIV because he loves the MMORPG and knows that most of the community is friendly. Initially, he stated that the game is “like therapy” for him. He will stream without addons or mods in the future.
Yoshida’s post leads to a division in the community
This is what FFXIV players are arguing about: The post by Yoshida sparked heated discussions within the FFXIV community. The use of mods and third-party programs is officially not allowed but still relatively widespread.
- Players change the appearance of the UI, their characters, and the in-game clothing that can only be seen by them. Or they take the appearance of paid and partially unreleased items from the official store.
- They gain gameplay advantages through addons, such as being immune to CC effects in PvP or seeing AoE areas in PvE that should actually be invisible.
- They use automated bot programs that, for example, automatically craft their character or monitor the market board and immediately adjust the price of their items as soon as someone offers cheaper items for sale, and so on.
Director Yoshida has regularly warned in the past that the use of such third-party programs can lead to penalties or a permanent ban. Therefore, the use is always at one’s own risk.
After the last blog post from the boss, two large factions formed that are either for or completely against the use of addons:
- The opponents of the addons say that the use is unfair to console players since FFXIV has unrestricted crossplay. Addon users on PCs gain unfair advantages. Moreover, rules are there to be followed. Forbidden is forbidden.
- The supporters like Pyromancer justify their position by stating that these addons, for example, improve the interface of FFXIV and offer useful options that don’t disturb anyone but make playing more enjoyable.
Whether the boss’s warning will lead to less use is hard to assess. However, there will definitely be fewer streams in the future where the addons are visible, as the videos are evidence that can be used against the players.
What is your opinion on mods and addons? Do you think that Square Enix is overreacting here and should allow some or should they be banned entirely? Let us know in the comments.

The PvP in Final Fantasy XIV is finally fun; now it just needs to survive

Lost Ark prepared the big May update on May 12 – 4 hours server down
The weekly update in Lost Ark focuses today, on May 12, on some adjustments in the game’s backend. With this, the aim is to prepare for the big update next week. We at MeinMMO summarize.
What’s in the update? When it comes to the direct content of the patch, this week’s update is likely one of the smallest Lost Ark has received so far. Smilegate and Amazon are focusing more on backend adjustments this week.
Because in the blog post, it is confirmed once again that with the weekly update next week, on May 19, the big monthly update will be released. This will then bring a massive amount of new content and needs to be prepared accordingly.
In addition to the backend improvements, you can expect only a single bug fix this week. A bug that caused the PvP leaderboards to sometimes not load is no longer in the game. However, there are no further changes.
When is the server down? The “Lost Ark” servers will go offline as usual at 9:00 AM German time. The update is expected to require about four hours of server downtime, which means you can set off for Arkesia again around 1 PM.
We will keep you updated on the server status in this article.
Update 14:15: The servers are back online. We wish you good loot!
You probably shouldn’t expect a larger update on Steam either, as the changes appear to be rather minor.
The players are concerned
How does the community react to the update? This week’s update receives rather few reactions, to be honest, as it brings almost no changes. Nevertheless, a clear mood among the fans of Lost Ark can be seen.
While some are looking forward to the big update next week and thank Amazon for the good communication, a completely different topic is also taking the forefront in the comments on the update. The problem with bots seems to be increasing again and is causing despair among some players.
They wish that at least the roadmap regarding the bots could be communicated and not just kept silent. Nevertheless, the general mood towards the new content entering the game next week is a good one.
What do the fans say? Under the announcement of the update on Twitter, there are some comments that can reflect the mood in the community (via Twitter):
- luktro3 writes: “Bots are really destroying the entire game. They cause disruptions in the economy and ruin the leveling experience. The bots farm the maps empty like a swarm. When will you really do something about this? It’s exhausting”
- revora___ is looking forward to the new update: “Let’s go! I’m excited for the 19th and have 44 cans of Dr. Pepper ready to go all out.”
- Well writes: “Thank you! You guys are doing a great job”
What do you think about the update and the current state of Lost Ark? Are you looking forward to the update next week or are you just as annoyed by the bots, as many players are in the comments under the official postings? Feel free to let us know in the comments here at MeinMMO.

New monsters in Pokémon GO: How strong are Araqua and Aranestro
In Pokémon GO there are two new Pokémon from the Alola region: Araqua and Aranestro. We at MeinMMO introduce you to the new monsters and tell you how strong they will be.
Which monsters are they? Just in time for the currently ongoing Water Festival, the two Alola Pokémon Araqua and Aranestro celebrate their debut in Pokémon GO. But what kind of Pokémon are they, and how strong are they? We took a closer look at this and summarized it for you below.
Araqua and Aranestro – How strong are they
What kind of Pokémon are Araqua and Aranestro? The Pokémon Araqua is a Water and Bug Pokémon from the 7th generation. With the help of 50 candies, you can evolve it into Aranestro. During the Water Festival, you can find Araqua in the game for the first time.
How strong are the new monsters: Araqua’s stats are not particularly strong, which is why it has no use in the PvP league as well as in raids. The only exception is the smaller leagues of the GO Battle League, such as the Element Cup. However, this is not the case for its evolution, Aranestro.
The Water and Bug Pokémon can especially shine with a decent defense value. With a moveset consisting of Bug Bite, Bug Buzz, and Bubble Beam, it secures the 13th place in the Super League ranking on PvPoke. In the Hyper and Master Leagues, however, it plays no significant role.
And also for use in raids, Aranestro is not the first choice. Instead, rely on the best attackers in Pokémon GO.
Araqua – Locations, Appearance, and Shiny
Where can you find Araqua? Keep an eye out for Araqua in the wild. Alternatively, you can also get it from event field research as well as from the new limited research. You can recognize it by its spider-like body, the long neon green legs, and the large bubble around its head.
Can you catch Shiny-Araqua? No, the shiny variant of the small Alola Pokémon is unfortunately not available in the game at the moment. If it ever becomes available, you will recognize it by its purple legs.
Is it worth catching Araqua?
Since Araqua is brand new in the game, you should definitely try to catch one or two specimens to secure yourself the two PokéDex entries for Araqua and Aranestro.
Additionally, Aranestro is particularly worthwhile for trainers looking for a strong candidate for the Super League. However, shiny hunters will not find what they’re looking for with Araqua and its evolution for now.
What do you think of the new Alola Pokémon? Have you already secured a specimen? Let us know in the comments.
By the way: With a trick, you can complete both Rocket battles of the new special research for Poni at once. We will show you how it works.

A new game on Steam costs €3.99 and has 98% positive reviews – How is that possible?
On Steam, the horror game “Nightmare of Decay” was released on May 3rd, a retro-style first-person shooter. It costs only €3.99, but 98% of the 569 reviews are positive. Reviewers see the game as a tribute to Resident Evil 1, which was released 26 years ago.
What kind of game is it?
- Nightmare of Decay is a classic first-person shooter that is clearly heavily inspired by Resident Evil. The horror classic from Capcom was released in 1996 for the PlayStation and a year later for the Saturn and PC.
- In Nightmare of Decay, you wake up in a villa with zombies, psychotic cultists, and other things you’d better avoid. The player solves puzzles, collects countless keys, and is repeatedly startled by the damn zombies lurking and attacking him.
- With an arsenal of weapons but limited resources, you fight for survival: the constant scarcity is part of the game’s charm, as most of the time you try to avoid fights to conserve ammunition.
Twitch streamer runs wild with a burning pan – Almost sets her kitchen on fire
During her Subathon on Twitch, Kjanecaron decided to cook something. But the food caught fire and she tried to put out the grease fire exactly the way you definitely shouldn’t.
Twitch streamer Kjanecaron held a Subathon for her 93,000 followers on Twitch. A stream marathon whose duration can be extended by new subscriptions, bits, and monetary donations. Included in the program was also the point “cooking,” which barely avoided turning into a disaster.
When the pan caught fire, panic ensued. The attempt to put it out only made things worse, and the streamer called for help.
A narrow escape from the kitchen fire
This is shown in the clip: In her kitchen, Kjanecaron sets up a camera so her viewers can watch her cook. In the clip, you can see the food in the pan on the stove smoking heavily and smoke alarms going off in the background. She removes the food from the pan and has to cough. Then, the contents of the pan suddenly catch fire. With her attempt to blow out the fire, she fails.
She then grabs the pan off the stove and holds it over the sink, where the contents come into contact with water. A flame erupts, which Kjanecaron comments with “Oh shit, fuck, fuck fuck.” She puts the pan back on the stove and shouts to the chat, “I don’t know what to do, guys.” Then she leaves the room, loudly calling for help and repeatedly emphasizing that she doesn’t know what to do and that she doesn’t have a fire extinguisher.
A few moments later, the fire in the pan has become so small that the streamer is able to pick up the pan and blow out the remaining flames. Clearly relieved, she places the hot object back into the sink and runs water over it. We’re embedding the video of the incident here:
This situation could have ended much worse. A grease fire is not to be taken lightly, and water is the absolute worst idea in this situation. Even if you spontaneously associate “water” with “putting it out.”
“At a temperature of 100°C, water turns to steam. If a stream of water is directed at boiling or burning fat, there is a sudden vaporization of the water. This will turn one liter of water into 1,700 liters!! of steam“, writes the fire department of Kirchberg on their website.
The steam disperses the burning fat and increases the surface area by about a thousand times, which can directly lead to an explosion. This creates a fireball that can spread throughout the entire kitchen.
Furthermore, the text from the Kirchberg fire department states: “This process happens within a fraction of a second. Therefore, a person who is immediately in front of the source of danger is in acute danger to life. A grease explosion can lead to life-threatening burns or even death. Even if a complete grease explosion does not occur, extreme steam can arise, which can also cause severe burns and scalds.
WARNING: DANGER TO LIFE!
Never extinguish burning (and extremely hot) fat with water!“
In the video by Stiftung Warentest, it is shown how to properly extinguish grease fires, electrical fires, and burning curtains. Inform yourselves on the website of the Kirchberg fire department about how to avoid such grease explosions and what extinguishing agents are appropriate.
As you can see, such a situation can end much worse. The streamer Kjanecaron was very lucky here. Players on reddit report that she apparently suffered burns on one hand. She spoke about the experience on the stream and showed her hand, which is smeared with cream in one spot.
Elsewhere, a 15-year-old celebrates in his Twitch streams with controlled fire. Crossmauz streams with a flamethrower and disco lights, and his clips go viral. In the community, the young streamer is celebrated for his special broadcasts.

Godzilla Event disappointing expectations of CoD Warzone – Great monsters, but too great promises
All fan eyes were on the big Godzilla event of Call of Duty: Warzone. On the evening of May 11, it finally went online. Unfortunately, it falls short for many players. MeinMMO author Maik Schneider collects reactions and shows why you should still check it out.
What’s happening with Warzone? In the current Season 3 of Call of Duty: Warzone, the monsters are loose. The big event “Operation: Monarch” is currently online and in a time-limited mode, King Kong and Godzilla are rampaging on the map Caldera.
2 giant NPCs stroll across the island, causing chaos, destruction, and can even help you eliminate your enemies.
However, the reactions to the visit from the Titans in the free Battle Royale are not exactly overwhelming. And that’s not necessarily due to the event itself, but to the expectations raised beforehand.
MeinMMO summarizes some reactions and gives insight into why you should still watch the reunion of the beloved giants.
Marketing vs. Reality – Warzone has overdone it
Why are players disappointed? Warzone released trailers and promoted the event for a few weeks. Some images have created certain expectations that are quite far from the real event.
The biggest thread today in the Warzone sub-reddit highlights the issue:
In a trailer, it was shown how the two Titans go head-to-head. In the event mode, however, the two creatures act completely independently of each other. There’s no sign of a fight between them.
Also, the overall interaction with the environment falls short of expectations. In the trailer, King Kong can be seen pulling an airplane from the sky to the ground.
However, Kong actually just jumps from one point to another on the map, flailing a bit and throwing rocks.
Another point is a burning volcano in the trailer. This hinted at another map change or at least a map event during the Titan matches. But there’s no sign of lava or volcanic eruptions.
We embed the latest trailer for the event here again:
“The event can’t keep up with the hype”
What do the reactions look like? The fan account “Modern Warzone” launched a Twitter poll asking whether the event is a W or an L – W stands for “Win” and L stands for “Loss”. The result after 13 hours of polling is quite clear:
Of 17,755 votes, 70.8% voted for an L (as of May 12, 10:00 AM). The mood is accordingly rather against the event.
However, the comments under the poll are more divided. There are also many users who support the event. Here are some contextual comments:
- @hobo_nick: “Marketing has raised expectations that the developers have not fulfilled. The volcano should have exploded. The monsters should have fought. The skin bundles should have included meta weapons. A match victory should have brought more incentives. Overall a disappointment. These big crossovers need to BOOM. Disappointing.”
- @dNstreeeet: “It’s a W! I didn’t expect to see King Kong and Godzilla fight and I was still impressed by what technology in gaming can do these days. The graphics are really cool. I never thought I would see these two movie monsters in Warzone.”
- @EndyisBad: “I resist anyone who says the event is an L. These people just hate everything that comes from Call of Duty. This game mode is the most fun I’ve had since Caldera was released in December.”
- @Shadow_MW_: “The event can’t keep up with the hype in my eyes. It was quite cool. But the fact that the monsters don’t interact with each other and Godzilla doesn’t leave the water was strange.”
The mode itself is often described as a cool change and nice activity. But the first impression was often negative because the expectations of the monsters were higher.
This is partly due to things that other games in the “Battle Royale” genre have already done. Fortnite often makes Warzone look outdated in this regard. Thus, the assessment from Twitch streamer Nickmercs, who has been in Warzone for a long time, also comes:
Tweet translation: “The Warzone event is terrible. Maybe we are spoiled by the Fortnite event, but damn it, bro. King Kong and Godzilla don’t even fight each other.”
Godzilla’s atomic breath went across the entire battlefield. We managed to get away, but the opponents were torn apart.
It’s not a mode you’ll grind for the next 2 weeks because it’s so damn good. But the event is definitely worth an extended evening. A great change from the Warzone routine.
You can read here how the mode works in detail: The Godzilla event in CoD Warzone has started – All info on Operation Monarch
I’d love to hear your opinion on the event. Leave a comment with your thoughts.
Nickmercs refers to a Fortnite event featuring similarly large figures:
Personal conclusion – Definitely check out the nonsense
I went into the event with no big expectations, not even sure if you would actually see the two in all their glory on Caldera.
Accordingly, my mouth corners quickly turned up when I saw the first glimpse of the map. Godzilla and King Kong are indeed stomping!
This brings a very special gaming feel because the monsters really seem overpowering and add a very exciting gameplay element. The first time, goosebumps crept across my body.
If you stand near the giants, it’s simply impressive and gives a certain kick. Especially at the location “Peak,” there’s constant action, bullets are flying from all sides and then such a giant creature is pursuing you.
The tighter the play area gets towards the end, the more the monsters interfere. When there are only 20, maybe 25 people left in the match (out of 60), the attacks from the Titans are a constant danger.
This requires more flexibility compared to the normal Battle Royale, but also provides more chances since everyone has to adjust. Enemies constantly come out of their hiding spots and run panically into my crosshairs.
The highlight of the first evening was a victory with the help of Godzilla. We put the last opposing team under great pressure and my duo partner still had the S.C.R.E.A.M. device that allowed him to control a monster attack.
Godzilla’s atomic breath went across the entire battlefield. We managed to get away, but the opponents were torn apart.
It’s not a mode you’ll grind for the next 2 weeks because it’s so damn good. But the event is definitely worth an extended evening. A great change from the Warzone routine.

An MMORPG that many love is getting a new server after 21 years – A Touch of WoW Classic
For many MMORPG fans, “Dark Age of Camelot” (PC) is still considered the online role-playing game with the best PvP. The game was released in 2001 in the USA and established the three-realm combat system, which is still maintained in Guild Wars 2 and The Elder Scrolls Online today. In 2022, the game will receive a new server with classic elements and a restart: Such a classic version had already caused a resurgence for World of Warcraft.
What kind of game is it? Dark Age of Camelot is a classic MMORPG with some unique features that many veterans still highlight 21 years after its release:
In the game, 3 realms fight against each other:
- Albion (Arthurian Legend, Knights and Mages)
- Hibernia (Celtic Mythology, Elves and Fairies)
- Midgard (Norse Mythology, Trolls and Dwarves)
Each realm has different versions of certain classes that vary greatly, leading to crazy class combinations:
- “Shadowblade” is, for example, a rogue who can wield a two-handed weapon
- the Scout is a bowman who fights with a shield
- the Animist can summon numerous mushrooms that attack enemies
Above all, PvP is considered formative for the MMORPG genre: Players fought against each other for castles and relics. There were duels, small skirmishes, or massive battles.
If everything was so great, why is it then dead? Dark Age of Camelot experienced a relatively large hype in the early 2000s and released several expansions in rapid succession.
Then it became clear that “PvE” games like Everquest performed better on the market than PvP titles like Dark Age of Camelot. The DAOC developers, Mythic, tried to steer the game towards PvE with the “Trials of Atlantis” expansion in 2003, which worked moderately well.
The game also had ongoing balancing issues: Especially new classes that came with the expansions were considered “too strong” and “overpowered”: It was said that they were just that good to encourage many people to buy the new add-on.
Then the hype for World of Warcraft emerged, and Dark Age of Camelot disappeared more or less from the spotlight starting in 2005.
The leading minds of the game turned to other projects and the next generation of MMORPGs: The design chief, Mark Jacobs, developed Warhammer Online, and the production chief, Matt Firor, moved to Bethesda and worked on “The Elder Scrolls Online”.
New server with classic elements aims to be a restart and bring back old players
This is the idea now: As clarified in a newsletter summarizing a developer Discord chat, a new server is planned for 2022 to bring players back to DAOC:
- The server is to run a “modified version of DAOC” – the rest is on “strong classic elements”
- The server is to allow for a “restart”
- The server is to be launched in summer
The developers emphasize that the current DAOC on the Ywain server should not be negatively affected by this.
What’s behind this: DAOC is certainly one of the MMORPGs that has been most glorified 20 years later. Many debates continually arise about how great DAOC was – for many in Europe and Germany, it was their “first MMORPG”.
The attempt to revive the game and turn back the clock is certainly interesting.
However, it must be said that Dark Age of Camelot has aged significantly worse in terms of graphics compared to World of Warcraft.
For many years, fans of DAOC have hoped that “Camelot Unchained” will eventually succeed. This is an indie MMORPG from DAOC developer Marc Jacobs:
MMORPG Camelot Unchained has been in development for 9 years – the atmosphere is openly hostile

EA and FIFA part ways after 30 years – Will it get better now?
The negotiations between the football world association FIFA and EA Sports show a capitalistic power struggle that is temporarily over. EA Sports is parting ways with “FIFA” and the popular football simulation will soon be called EA Sports FC. What does this mean for the commercially most successful video game series in the world? This is what the MeinMMO editorial team discusses in the podcast.
For a long time, there has been a rumor that the FIFA video game series will soon change its name. This speculation is now a reality. FIFA 23, which is set to be released in 2022, will be the last game in the franchise to carry this name.
Here you can also listen to the podcast:
- Spotify
- iTunes
- Directly on Mein-MMO.de
- You can also use the direct RSS feed from Julep .
In the official statement regarding the separation, EA Sports made it clear that the important licenses for real players, leagues, and more will remain in “EA Sports FC”. This includes exclusive partnerships, for example with the Bundesliga, Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, and MLS.
But what do these changes specifically mean for EA and the massively successful football simulation? FIFA has long been accused of not offering any innovation and being focused on maximizing profit. Could the separation bring fresh air to the game or is it ultimately only about the opportunity to enter into new collaborations?
Exactly this question is discussed by editor-in-chief Leya Jankowski, editorial manager Gerd Schuhmann, and Max Handwerk, the FIFA specialist from MeinMMO.

Fortnite defeats cheat providers in a lawsuit – Donates the loot for a good cause
In Fortnite there are many providers selling accounts or cheats. These not only give you an advantage in the game, but may also be stolen accounts. Epic Games does not tolerate this and has taken action against a cheat provider with good success.
What has Epic Games done? Many cheat providers and fraudsters are circulating on the internet, selling you stolen accounts for a lot of money. Not only does this violate Epic Games’ guidelines, but it is also illegal.
In Australia, the cheat provider BlazeFN has now been dragged to court and held accountable. He was not only accused of violating the EULA, but also of disregarding the terms of service and infringing Epic Games’ copyrights.
Monetary penalty will be used for those in need
Who has been affected? Brandon Despotakis, also known as BlazeFN, sold cheats and accounts with already completed battle passes and rare skins for money. However, Epic caught onto him and sued the man in April 2021.
He was found by the court to have violated the EULA, the terms of service, and copyright laws, and must pay a fine. Brandon stated the following after his trial:
Until recently, I sold unauthorized Fortnite cheats and compromised Fortnite player accounts. I will not do this anymore because Epic Games caught me and initiated a legal proceeding against me in Australia.
Furthermore, I am subject to legal restrictions that prevent me from doing this in the future and must pay financial compensation that Epic will donate to charity.
BlazeFN according to PC Gamer
How much money did BlazeFN have to pay? It has not been disclosed how much BlazeFN had to pay. However, considering the violations and Epic’s goal of supporting a children’s charity with the “proceeds”, it could be a substantial amount.
The money will go to the organization “Child’s Play”, which aims to improve children’s hospitals.
Epic wants to make it clear that they do not tolerate such offenses and will pursue and hold accountable those responsible with all severity. Fortnite aims to provide every player with a fair gaming experience, and that can only happen if operators of such aim bots or hacked accounts are dealt with.
What do you think about Epic Games using the money for charitable purposes to help those in need? Do you think it’s a good thing? Or is it not that bad that stolen accounts were sold? Let us know in the comments!
