In Overwatch the Year of the Rooster has begun. The new event is now live.
The last few days have been a leak festival in Overwatch: first there were skins to see, then more skins, finally a teaser trailer, and this afternoon already the Spanish version of the official trailer.
But now it is officially here. Since 8:30 PM the “Year of the Rooster” is active, a new event in the shooter Overwatch with which Blizzard wants to celebrate the Chinese New Year. In China, they are a few weeks behind us here in the West.
The event will last three weeks, until February 13.
How Blizzard celebrates the Year of the Rooster
The Year of the Rooster runs like the previous events in Overwatch: There is a new game mode and a collection of fresh items that can be found in loot boxes for as long as the event lasts. Once you have such an item, you can use it for the whole year.
- As a new game mode, there is the classic “Capture the Flag” as a Brawl, in Overwatch it becomes “Get the Rooster.”
- Over 100 cosmetic items in the style of the Lunar New Year promises Blizzard
- On the Lijang Tower map, you can now enjoy the firefight under fireworks
- In the loot boxes, there will be at least one “new” item from the Year of the Rooster collection each time, including player icons, sprays, victory poses, emotes, highlight intros, skins, and much more
