With the Winter Wonderland 2018, many heroes from Overwatch received new skins and more. In one of the new victory poses, there is a hint about a hero that many fans have been eagerly waiting for: It is the Jetpack Cat.
This is hidden: With the Patch for Winter Wonderland 2018 on December 11th, new victory poses were added, including one for Brigitte. She received the victory pose “Skål,” where she is seen holding a cup.
The cup shows a cat with a face from earlier concept arts. On the back, a small jetpack is attached to the cup.
The hero that many are waiting for
Who is the Jetpack Cat? At BlizzCon 2017, Blizzard released some early concepts for heroes from Overwatch. One of these concepts, which was later discarded, was the Jetpack Cat.
The cat with the rocket backpack has excited many Overwatch fans who celebrate the hero concept. At the announcement of Brigitte in Spring 2018, the hype was reignited, as Brigitte is already seen with the cat in armor in her backstory.
However, the concept has been “too outrageous” for Blizzard to implement in the game. Additionally, there already exists an animal with a jump module (Winston). Since then, it has been quiet around the Jetpack Cat.
Is the cat coming after all? Blizzard is known for teasing in all their games. The cup that has exactly the face of the concept is certainly not a coincidence.
Colleagues from PCGamesN believe it is likely that the Jetpack Cat will be coming “soon”.
Now that Wrecking Ball, a mech tank-riding hamster is in Overwatch, the concept of the rocket cat doesn’t seem so crazy anymore.
At BlizzCon 2018, Jeff Kaplan already announced that six new heroes will be coming to Overwatch. During the Overwatch panel at BlizzCon, the Jetpack Cat was briefly mentioned by lead writer Michael Chu. All of this suggests that the concept of the cat is at least not completely off the table yet.
The character surrounding the incident, Brigitte, who received the pose, is currently not doing so well. Brigitte received a nerf with the Winter Wonderland event that is currently igniting discussions.
There is more to discover: In the Winter Wonderland 2018, you can currently unlock 7 new legendary skins. Additionally, there are:
- an epic “Gift” skin for Bastion
- emotes for Genji and Torbjörn
- a highlight intro for Wrecking Ball, in which he decorates his ball
All new content has been uploaded in a short video on the YouTube channel “HighscoreHeroes,” which deals with Overwatch content.
The Winter Wonderland 2018 lasts until January 2, 2019. During this time, you can stock up on event loot boxes and unlock cosmetics you desire using credits.
