The Christmas event of Overwatch with version number 2.01 is live. We will tell you what you need to know about the Winter Wonderland.
For months, fans and data miners speculated about what Blizzard would present to fans for Christmas. Since 9 PM (December 13, 2016), we now know what to expect in Overwatch: the Winter Wonderland event!
The main attraction for players are likely the new loot boxes available during the event. In these boxes, apart from the usual loot, there may be one or more items from the special Christmas set, which is only available during this time. The loot boxes can be earned as usual in various game modes (Arcade is particularly rewarding) or purchased directly for real Euros in the shop. A complete list of all new skins will be available for you tomorrow morning.
Also new is the special game mode “Mei’s Snowball Fight”. As a temporary brawl, both teams have only Mei to choose from. However, she cannot use her normal attacks, but can only throw a snowball. This only has one shot before it needs to be recharged at a snow pile. The Ice Wall and Ice Block are still available. The ultimate has a special function – when activated, it allows the player to fire an unlimited number of snowballs for a short time. As each player only has one life per round, it often leads to exciting duels! However, this mode should not be taken too seriously.
All players have until January 2, 2017, to secure the new skins, emotes, and highlight intros, as the event will end then.
The patch also included changes for Symmetra – she now has two ultimates and a modified ability kit.
