The latest patch of Overwatch is not running smoothly. Many bugs are disrupting the gaming experience and forced Blizzard to take action.
It should actually be the contemplative time of the year, where Overwatch fans can shoot each other in a festive environment. However, the revamped Christmas map “Blizzard World” has brought a bug with it, causing matches to never end.
What happened? The map “Blizzard World” has been festively decorated for the Winter Wonderland event. However, a bug causes the spawn room on both sides to not open, leaving players trapped in the match endlessly. This only allows the option to leave the match manually.
Blizzard is working on a fix: Developer Dan Maas has already commented in the official forum, stating that they are working hard to fix the bugs. Temporarily, the “Blizzard World” map has been disabled in all game modes, which also means that no modes are offered in the Arcade that include Blizzard World in the rotation.
Community is disappointed: The frustration in the community is high. There is disbelief about how such bugs could sneak into the patch, which actually only contains “minor things”. The fact that several game modes are completely rendered useless is considered embarrassing for Blizzard.
More bugs have appeared: The issues with Blizzard World are not the only points of criticism from the community. Numerous players complain about drastic FPS drops since the patch, even on high-end machines. The other Christmas mode, the Yeti Hunt, is also bugged. It can happen that the Yeti seemingly goes into a tantrum “randomly”, even if it doesn’t have the necessary energy.
The Winter Wonderland 2018 is thus facing some problems. However, it should not take long for Blizzard to roll out a hotfix.
