Out of the dream. Terry Crews is not the voice of Doomfist in Overwatch. Some fans do not understand this at all.
For many players, a dream came true yesterday when Blizzard finally announced the newest hero for Overwatch – Doomfist. However, for some, the joy lasted only a few moments, as they were deeply disappointed on another level.
The voice actor for Doomfist is not who one would have expected. For months, there has been a hype around Doomfist, with many wanting Terry Crews to voice the melee fighter. Crews himself has repeatedly confirmed how much he would love to voice and embody the new character. He has even encouraged fans to put a little pressure on Blizzard.
However, it seems that nothing came of it. A look at the English origin video of Doomfist or the PTR of Overwatch quickly reveals that Doomfist has received a different voice actor – namely Sahr Ngaujah.
On Twitter, fans have very little understanding of this. Some even demand that the responsible employees at Blizzard be fired for this.
What do you think about this? Should Crews voice Doomfist? Or is it Blizzard’s right to hire whoever they find most suitable for the role?
Cortyn says: Honestly, I find Sahr Ngaujah’s voice much more fitting to portray the villain Doomfist than Crews. Sure, Terry Crews is cool in a way, and all the hype around it has surely raised many expectations. But one shouldn’t completely write off Crews yet, as it is possible that he voices the “old” Doomfist Akinjide Adeyemi in a potential cinematic. Hope dies last, as they say. For that, alone.
