Symmetra and Torbjörn from Overwatch should be buffed on PS4 and Xbox again – at least that is what the fans demand.
When Overwatch was released almost a year ago on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, it quickly became clear that different platforms needed different fine-tuning. Since aiming on PC is generally easier, some abilities were stronger in the console version than on the computer. Objects with an automatic aiming function – like Torbjörn’s and Symmetra’s turrets – were more powerful on PS4 and Xbox One than on PC, because they had hardly any delay in target acquisition.
This led to many teams simply packing 5-6 Torbjörns or Symmetras at the launch of Overwatch, making control points nearly unassailable. To prevent this, both characters were nerfed on PS4 and Xbox One – but now there is the hero limit: selecting the same character multiple times is only possible in special arcade modes.
The fans’ demand is clear: “Buff Torbjörn and Symmetra back to their former strength!”
In the official form, Jeff Kaplan commented on the topic:
“We are keeping a close eye on [Torbjörn and Symmetra]. Until recently, their performance [on consoles] was almost identical to that on PC. Recently, they have deviated a bit from that, and we will observe this for now and consider whether we need to adjust them.”
Additionally, the developers are currently working on enabling players to report disruptive players on consoles in the future. They hope to implement this feature “before summer,” but make no promises. Kaplan did not disclose why this feature is taking so long, as it has been implemented on the PC version for a long time.
