The helping heroes in Overwatch can soon request help themselves. Will supporters be better protected then?
In the heat of an Overwatch battle, it gets wild. While Pharah’s rockets explode next to the player, Reaper approaches from the side with his shotguns, and Zarya fires her Graviton Surge, some information may get lost along the way.
Especially healers, the support heroes, suffer from the fact that their team often does not pay them any attention. When they are quickly taken out by an enemy, there is often criticism afterwards about why there was “no damn heal”.
Mercy calls for help, other heroes do not
The exception here is the healer Mercy. When she is shot at, she has voicelines that inform her teammates. This way, all team members know immediately that Mercy is in trouble and urgently needs some assistance.
Many fans have been wondering for a long time: Why can Mercy call for help while other characters cannot?
In the official forum, Michael Chu from Blizzard has now announced that such voicelines will likely be introduced for all support heroes in the future, as it has been “requested multiple times”.
With a future patch, all support heroes will therefore receive new voicelines. This way, Zenyatta and Lúcio, for example, will also be able to call for help when attacked – only to take out their opponents solo, as no one protects the healers.
However, there is still no specific timeline for the new voicelines. Therefore, we can probably expect it at the earliest in a few months.
Do you think this change will ensure that supporters are better protected?
Have you seen the speculations and hints surrounding the next (possible) hero Brigitte?
