The Sombra countdown from Overwatch has expired. But a new puzzle has already popped up – this time we’re counting up.

Yesterday we reported that Blizzard might reveal the new character Sombra through a forum post. However, when the corresponding countdown expired, nothing happened at first. Quickly, the concern among the “investigators” grew: Could it have been not a countdown, but a timer showing how long they had left to solve a certain puzzle? Were not all clues discovered again (as so often)?
That does not seem to be the case, because instead of a new countdown… Blizzard is now counting up. On the website “amomentincrime“, which is connected to the earlier announcement of Junkrat and Roadhog, a new message from Sombra has appeared.
Translated, that means:
“Connecting…”
“Protocol ‘Sombra’ version 1.9 initiated…”
“Transmitting data to active Omnics… 5%”
“Ending connection…”
Anyone who regularly refreshes this website will notice that the percentage display is slowly increasing. Since only 5% has been achieved since last night, most fans assume that it will take much more than a week to complete this process.
Furthermore, a comment from Sombra has been hidden in the HTML code of the page.
This means, translated:
“Well done, you have my key.”
“Hacking this channel was child’s play.”
“Wait for what is to come.”
The problem is: Players are slowly losing patience. Even among the “investigators”, voices are beginning to grow louder that Blizzard has stretched this scavenger hunt too far. Curiosity and excitement are slowly turning into frustration. Moreover, many fear that Sombra may no longer live up to the expectations built over months.
What is happening now?
The most common theory currently prevailing is that Sombra will be revealed in a few days in the form of a new cinematic. After all, that would also fit well “story-wise” with the previous events. After all, Sombra, with the help of the players, has now taken over a television channel and is currently transmitting data to “all active Omnics” – what could be better than playing a video on all Omnics so it is displayed worldwide? Is Sombra possibly the catalyst for the second Omnic crisis… and have the players given her this power? Hopefully, we will find out soon. Because patience is running low.
