Blizzard has now revealed how many players participated in the beta of Overwatch .
It looks like Blizzard has a hit on its hands. 9.7 million players tried Overwatch in the beta, Blizzard reports.
That’s a powerful number even for a free-to-play beta from the makers of the Orcs. This number includes players on PC, PS4, and Xbox One during the open beta.

They played 37,000,000 matches and spent 81 million hours of playtime. The beta ran from May 5 to May 10. For some, it started a bit earlier.
With 9.7 million players, it is in the “Largest Beta of All Time” territory. Last year, Star Wars Battlefront claimed this title with 9 million players, as GameSpot knows. The Division attached the title “Largest Beta of a New IP” after 6.4 million players in its beta.
