In Overwatch , there will soon be more freedom in customization. This includes the ability to make adjustments even during the round.
More Freedom During the Assemble Phase in Overwatch
Overwatch provides its players with numerous skins, voicelines, and emotes already, offering several ways to customize each hero. However, the more you unlock, the more useless the unlocks seem, as only one can be active per category. Jeff Kaplan revealed some time ago that they are considering ideas to allow players to activate multiple spray logos and voicelines.
Now, the planning is taking a step further. To create a better sense of belonging, players will in the future be able to choose their hero skins during their “Assemble your Heroes” phase (the preparation for the round).
Some players do not understand why this should not be possible throughout the match, to which Kaplan responds:
“We want people to change their skins before the match, but not during the match. There are two reasons for this:
- Your team needs you. Go out and help them.
- We do not want to hinder the “readability” of the round by having people constantly change their appearance.
This feature has been on our list for a while, and we really want to release it. However, it often gets pushed back because more important matters take precedence (like the changes for Season 2).”
So, it is not to be expected that we will receive this feature in the near future. But now, first of all, the start of Season 2 is scheduled for September 6, 2016.
