A group of “hackers,” Lizard Squad, claims responsibility for issues with Overwatch.
An alleged member of the group “Lizard Squad” sent a message via Twitter suggesting that he is responsible for the problems with Blizzard’s shooter Overwatch.
Hai there @BlizzardCS
Don’t mind me, just doing some preparations.

Blizzard is having problems with the authentication servers, which may lead to failed or slow login attempts. Blizzard tweeted that in turn.
We’re currently investigating an issue affecting our authentication servers, which may result in failed or slow login attempts. #BlizzCS

Whether “Lizard Squad” is truly behind these problems is hard to say. Just like the membership of individual people often remains in the dark. The group thrives on publicity, frequently demanding “Twitter retweets” to stop the alleged sabotage through DDoS attacks. This lures opportunists who pose as members to draw attention to themselves as well.
The group reached the height of its notoriety during the Christmas season of 2014, when it was able to bring the online services of consoles to their knees. A nasty dispute involving group members later led to the resignation of Sony Online Interactive CEO John Smedley.
