The latest season in Overwatch has begun. We reveal what changes in the hero shooter with Season 8.
With the start of the year 2018, a new beginning is also imminent in Overwatch – namely in the ranked game mode. The 8th season of Overwatch has begun.
As in previous seasons, it is again mandatory to complete 10 placement matches first. This gives each player a starting rating and assigns them to the appropriate division.
Overwatch Season 8 changes skill rating rules
However, with the start of Season 8, there have also been a few changes that should lead to a better gaming experience.
Overwatch now ensures that players within a team do not have too large a discrepancy in skill rating.
Previously, these restrictions already applied to groups. Players within a group had to be within 1000 skill rating points (for example, between 2000 and 2999).
These restrictions are now being expanded so that they affect the entire team. Thus, the entire team will now be within a certain range of skill ratings.
The ranges in skill rating are now as follows:
- Bronze to Diamond: 1000 skill rating
- Master: 500 skill rating
- Grandmaster: 250 skill rating
Blizzard hopes that this will improve the gaming experience for all players.
This time, rewards also include display images and spray logos when you complete the placement matches or reach the top 500 in a region.
A date for the end of Season 8 is not yet known.
What do you think of these changes? Is it a good thing that the skill rating range is getting smaller? Or is this adjustment unnecessary?
Have you seen the Overwatch fan map “Cairo”? Even Blizzard is impressed by it!
